Several WWE developmental releases have been made in the last week, reports Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com.

Eli Cottonwood, who appeared on WWE NXT, requested for his release from the company and had it granted. Reports suggest Cottonwood received a job offer outside of the wrestling business and decided to take it.

Jiro, who was originally trained in Japan by TAKA Michinoku’s Kaientai-Dojo, has also been released, along with Benicio Salazar, a Mexican talent who worked under a mask in Mexico as El Hijo del Medico Asesino, and Sonny Elliot, a developmental talent from Australia, who have all been released from their developmental contracts.

I never liked Eli Cottonwood at all so I'm glad he left besides he requested it. Jiro was a decent wrestler and I thought he had potential and that's sad that he was released. The shocker out of this is Benicio Salazar who I strongly thought was going to be a massive star in WWE with Sin Cara.

Sonny Elliot being released, he'd probably come back to Australia and just wrestle here... Sucks he got released his gimmick was great.

WWE are pretty late this year with their post WM releaseathon.

Eli Cottonwood should have been released as soon as he was removed from NXT as it was clear that he wouldn't make it. Sonny Elliot being released is a shame since he is Australian but he was rarely used in FCW so it wasn't too surprising, he is still really young so he just needs more experience and maybe down the line he can try again. Jiro was okay but again not used too frequently in his time there.

Salazar being released makes no sense at all. They only recently brought him in, he is young, talented and they want more hispanic stars so they release him? It is also a bit unprofessional of the FCW writers to unmask the guy and then fire him, surely they would have know a week ago that he was going to be fired so no reason for him to be unmasked.

I think Sonny got released maybe because he wasn't as ready. Ah well... I just hope he comes back to Australia.

Salazar does my head in, the media reports spoke him up literally as the next biggest hispanic star. I hope he goes to TNA seriously.

I don't get it either, as you said he was being talked up as a big signing and a great talent yet the week after they unmask him they release him. Maybe something has happened behind the scenes to lead to his release.

Now that FCW and NXT is merging WWE must be clearing some space, plus they also have close to ten unassigned wrestlers that will need to be added to FCW in the near future. I expect a few more releases in the coming weeks to clear more space.

As always, here I am with pictures of what they all looked like:

Everyone knows what Eli Cottonwood looked like, so we'll skip him as he was shit and should've been released ages ago:

Eli Cottonwood should have been released a while ago, but I don't know much about the others, haven't seen a match of any of them actually.
