Sergio Pettis vs. Yaotzin Meza booked for UFC Fight Night 43 in Albuquerque
Bantamweights Sergio Pettis (10-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) and Yaotzin Meza (20-9 MMA, 1-2 UFC) have been booked for a meeting at UFC Fight Night 43 in Albuquerque
UFC officials today announced the bout.
The event takes place place June 7 at Tingley Coliseum. Broadcast plans haven’t been revealed for the card, though the main card is likely to air on FOX Sports 1 with prelims on UFC Fight Pass.
It’s not clear where Pettis vs. Meza will be placed on the lineup.
Pettis, 20, opened his career with 10 straight wins, including a decision victory over bantamweight Will Campuzano in his promotional debut at UFC 167. However, the former flyweight, who’s the younger brother of UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis, suffered a setback in his most recent outing when Alex Caceres submitted him at UFC on FOX 10 in January.
The Roufusport fighter looks to get back on track when he meets Meza, a member of the Arizona-based MMA Lab camp. The 33-year-old has rotated between wins and losses in his past six fights, which includes UFC defeats to Chad Mendes and Chico Camus (in his most recent bout), as well as a submission victory over John Albert, which marked the former featherweight’s bantamweight debut.
The latest UFC Fight Night 43 card now includes:
Benson Henderson vs. Rustam Khabilov
John Dodson vs. John Moraga
Yaotzin Meza vs. Sergio Pettis
Lance Benoist vs. Bobby Voelker
