The Grand Final will be played this Sunday at the Barclaycard Arena in Madrid, starting at 9 PM.
It's about time my country wins the gold once again, the last time we won was 12 years ago, in 2002, at Indianapolis, and back then we were known as Yugoslavia.

It's gonna be a fun game against the US, really looking forward to it!

Just curious, why is the Yugoslavian nations; Notably Serbia so successful with basketball?

I've known they are for a while but I find it funny in America that the stereotype is blacks while Serbia is seemingly polar opposite of black

- It's because we suck at football (soccer) and pretty much at everything else. We're pretty good at basketball, waterpolo and tennis, though (it's more of an individual game, but Djokovic's the best in the world, so fuck it).

- To answer the second part of your post...
We don't have black people (of African origin) here in my country playing for our national team (yes, some of them are playing in Serbia's basketball leagues), so that's why our basketball team has only white players, it's not like there's a rule or something. (if that's what you wanted me to give ya as an answer).
Speaking of the stereotypes.... We have those stereotypes in Serbia, too. Those 'blacks' are called gypsies here in my country, and they are not of an African origin, btw... They're pretty much the lowest class in Serbia and are 'cast outs' of our society, which is sad... But gypsies are probably the only people who like us on this planet Earth (lol), yet they are so dismissed by our society.

Why not? The US has always had a great basketball team.

On the other hand, my country has pretty much sucked at basketball ever since we won the gold back in 2002, and that was when we were known as Yugoslavia.
In 2010, we started getting back on our feet a little bit, and now in 2014, we have solidified as a team and came back strong.
Our coach has said that we're just happy to be where we're at, it's a huge accomplishment that we've got this far, and the boys will head into the finals with cool heads come this Sunday.

I honestly never knew anyone played basketball bar the Americans on a wide national scale. I thought it was like the NFL version of football where it's majorily a fringe sport elsewhere . I'll back Serbia because it would be fun to see someone beat America.

It's gonna be a fun game, that's for sure.

IIRC, the last time Serbia and America played against each other was back in 2002, in quarter-finals of the US World Cup... My country won by 81:78.
I'm really looking forward to the game tomorrow night.
