Sean Soriano vs. Andre Fili slated for UFC Fight Night 50 in Connecticut
A featherweight bout between Sean Soriano (8-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) and Andre Fili (13-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC) is the latest addition to September’s UFC Fight Night 50 lineup.
The booking comes via a report from providencejournal.com
UFC Fight Night 50 takes place Sept. 5 at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Ledyard, Conn. It’s a rare Friday night show for the UFC – and falls on the same night as Bellator 123 in nearby Uncasville, less than 10 miles away.
The bulk of the UFC Fight Night 50 card is expected to air on FOX Sports 1 following a few prelims on UFC Fight Pass.
Soriano recently made his UFC debut following an 8-0 start to his career, the final stretch of which came in the CFA promotion. The 24-year-old Blackzilians team member, who was a high school state wrestling champion, then fought Tatsuya Kawajiri as a late replacement at UFC Fight Night 34 and suffered a submission loss in the night’s co-headliner.
Fili, a top prospect out of Team Alpha Male, made his UFC debut in October and scored a TKO win over Jeremy Larsen. However, in April at UFC 172, the 23-year-old “Touchy†suffered a submission loss to fellow youngster Max Holloway. It snapped a nine-fight winning streak for Fili.
The still-developing UFC Fight Night 50 card now includes:
Michael Chiesa vs. Joe Lauzon
Andre Fili vs. Sean Soriano
