SmackDown LIVE preview, Dec. 19, 2017: WWE Clash of Champions tensions spill over to Tuesday night
WWE Clash of Champions has come and gone, but not without its share of controversy. The bad blood from Sunday will spill over onto SmackDown LIVE during a huge Six-Man Tag Team rematch from Tribute to the Troops. What will happen when WWE Champion AJ Styles, Randy Orton & Shinsuke Nakamura join forces to battle Jinder Mahal, Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn? Find out on SmackDown LIVE, tonight at 8/7 C on USA Network!
This past Sunday’s WWE Network special has come and gone, but not without its share of controversy. While serving as Special Guest Referees for the battle between Randy Orton & Shinsuke Nakamura and Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn, Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon were unable to stay on the same page, and the friction led to a fast-count from The “Yes!” Man, resulting in KO & Zayn claiming victory and keeping their jobs. Plus, AJ Styles fought through the meddling of The Singh Brothers to retain his WWE Championship in a taxing bout against Jinder Mahal.
The bad blood will continue to boil over tonight in a Six-Man Tag Team rematch from Tribute to The Troops when Styles, Orton & Nakamura join forces to clash with Mahal, Owens & Zayn. What will happen when these intense rivals collide inside the squared circle?
"The WWE Universe wants to turn their back on me? The women want to turn their back on me? Well now I'm turning my back on all of you!"
Natalya didn't mince words after her disappointing loss to Charlotte Flair at WWE Clash of Champions, claiming that the Women's division and the entire WWE Universe has been ungrateful for everything she's given over the course of her decade-plus WWE career.
Despite having the majority of the women aiding her efforts in the SmackDown Women's Title Lumberjack Match, Natalya fell short of recapturing the championship from Charlotte as she tapped out to the Figure-Eight Leglock. Following the bout, the former champ went on an emotional tirade over what she felt was a blatant lack of support from WWE fans.
"I have carried this entire division for 10 years," Natalya shouted, "and all of you have treated me with nothing but disrespect!"
Without a doubt, this is the most bitter side of Natalya that the WWE Universe has ever seen, and now questions are swirling about what's next for an elite performer who has shockingly lost her composure.
Will she exhibit a more hostile, ruthless side in her tactics to climb back to the top of the Women's division? Or could this possibly be the end of the road for Natalya just four months removed from her resurgent SmackDown Women's Title victory at SummerSlam?
Based off her harsh rant at WWE Clash of Champions, one thing is clear: Natalya is done caring about what the Women's division and the WWE Universe thinks of her.
Dolph Ziggler celebrates his United States Title victory
Dolph Ziggler shocked the WWE Universe at WWE Clash of Champions when he walked out of a Triple Threat Match as the new United States Champion. The Showoff plans on rubbing that in the face of everyone who doubted him on SmackDown LIVE tonight, as he has a special celebration planned in honor of his big win.
Just what Ziggler has up his sleeve is unknown at this time, but The Showoff may have to deal with furious ex-titleholder Baron Corbin.
Chad Gable & Shelton Benjamin try to knock off The Usos
The Usos survived a grueling Fatal 4-Way Match on Sunday to hang on to their SmackDown Tag Team Titles, but their week won’t be getting any easier, as they’ll be facing Chad Gable & Shelton Benjamin on SmackDown LIVE. The duos collided for Team Blue’s tag team titles over a month ago, and Gable & Benjamin won by count-out and feel that they’re still owed a rematch for the championship. This is their chance to prove they deserve it.
Can Gable & Benjamin once again knock off the champions? Find out tonight on SmackDown LIVE at 8/7 C on USA Network!
