Well, if you don't know, I am big into the Drama department at my school. I have been in 5 plays, with a lead in 1. I love it. Nothing better. This next school year coming up though, I will be taking part in the Student written, student directed One Acts. Basically 4 Actors are chosen to Write a play, a one act, and direct themselves. I am one of those lucky 4 this year. I have until about October to get it finished. It's going to be 1 Act, and 5 scenes. It has to be kinda short. I'm still working on a title for it, but I want to post the first scene here to see what you guys think. Kinda childish, but it's what I'm aiming for. I want to appeal to the kids. What better way? Super Heroes. Enjoy.
Act 1 - Scene 1
Channel 84 news station in down town Los Angeles. Andy is sittting behind the news anchor desk just finishing up the 11 O'Clock news.
Andy: And that's the 11 O'Clock news. Stay safe L.A. Good night.
Andy stands up from the desk as the camera gets off him.
Andy: Hey! Frank! When am I going to get to cover a REAL story for once? I'm tired of doing these little local nothings that no one cares about.
Frank: I told you Andy, you're just not ready. Sorry kid.
Frank sempathetically pats Andy's shoulder, then walks off the set. Andy looks down shaking his head. Just then a girls scream is heard off in the distance, off stage. Andy runs in the direction quickly.
Grace: Oh thank goodness, I need help!
Andy: Uh, don't worry....HELP...I NEED, I MEAN, SHE NEEDS...HELP! Ugh, this is gonna take to long, HOLD ON!
Andy emerges from the back with a girl in his arms. He sets her down by the news desk.
Grace: Oh think you mister! I'm Grace. What is your name?
Andy: Me? Oh, I'm uh...Andy.
Grace: Well thank you so much for saving me. I don't know what I would have done if you didn't here my cry.
Andy puffs out his chest and talks in a more "manly" voice.
Andy: Well, Pretty little lady, it's what I do.
Grace: What do you mean?
Andy: Don't make a big deal out it, but I'm kind of a super hero.
Grace giggles a bit to herself.
Grace: And then what should I call you, oh super hero?
Andy: Uh..I'm Illusion-Man. Not everything is what it seems. Now, it's getting late. You should go home.
Grace: Yeah..well, good night Andy..Illusion Man.
Andy: Good night.
Grace walks off the set as Andy sighs and looks down. He starts to talk to himself.
Andy: Illusion-Man? What was I thinking. Might as well just said "Hey, I'm a desperate nerdy kid who still reads comics and truely deep down in his heart beilives super heroes exsist. Silly me. All of them are lies. But not anymore. Not this time Andy. You want this, you have to fight for this. If she thinks I'm a big super hero, then a big super hero I have to be! Which means I need to go fight crime! But what kind of crime can their possibly be in Los Angeles in the dead of the night...Well, it doesn't hurt to look. I bet I find something. I just hope it's not an old ladies cat stuck in a tree. I really hope I'm not in over my head this time.
Andy walks off set as it blacks out.
