Santino Marella retires

Last night at a house show in Toronto featured an in ring "promo" from Santino. Santino gave a speech about being introduced from Canada just this one time since he never has the opportunity due to his character being billed from Italy. He also said that he had suffered his third neck injury a few weeks ago, and noted that he wanted to mention his roots as he doesn't think he'll have another chance in the future.

Essentially, Santino has all but confirmed that his third neck injury has brought a close to his in ring career.

I do feel sorta sad about this one because he was one hell of a talented guy. People can talk about how his comedy sucked or whatever, but the fact is the guy took everything handed to him and ran with it, usually to success. He retires a former 2x Intercontinental Champion, 1x United States Champion and a former Tag Team Champion. Not bad for a comedy gimmick huh?

I was a huge santino mark. The guy was in the top 15 of the greatest wwe superstars of this era. He was funny and talented with lots of charisma. I'm sad that this had to happen.

I despised him. He was only good for 2 years. I liked his debut. He wore out his welcome pretty quick. I'm glad he's gone.

This is sad because just a few days prior to this he said that he could see himself with the WWE for another 20 years.

Bummer for sure because I always liked Santino and found him very amusing. I'm sure he'll stick around WWE as an agent or trainer, and make random one off special appearances.

I hope he does something with commentary because he's really a good wrestler on the microphone. I can see him being an excellent commentator.
