It is well known that William Regal has had problems with recreational drugs in the past; ultimately losing his job two times over it (early 1998 from WCW and April 1999 from WWE), as well as a stint in rehab (early 1999). However, he has long since claimed to be clean. No one has said anything on Regal struggling to maintain his sobriety, so that the theory of him failing a drug test due to recreational drugs appears to be out.

Regal has been telling people that believes he took an illegal supplement by mistake, which led to his drug failure. However, a number of people are skeptical of that, mostly because so many athletes have used that excuse in the past and its rarely believed. While it may not necessarily be true, the belief backstage among a few people in WWE is that Regal started taking steroids again somewhat recently due to his renewed push after winning the King of the Ring tournament. Considering that he was being pushed as an active wrestler and not just a suited-up authority figure, the feeling is that he needed to get back on the gas to look his absolute best.

Obviously, Regal doesn't have the chiseled bodybuilder look that many people associate with steroid use, but he didn't have that look when he was nabbed for buying steroids online last August either. According to Sports Illustrated, Regal purchased a variety of performance enhancing drugs including stanozolol, somatropin, genotropin and anastrozole between November 2004 and November 2006 through Signature Pharmacy, an alleged illegal internet drug distribution network.

People say you need steroids to get a push in WWE, but with this it seems the other way around. IMO he could have worked out and he wouldn't have looked much worse then he did anyway.

I dont buy this whole accident thing.
It just seems a little too made up to me, and since hes had history with drugs before, it makes it more believeable.
I still dont know why the hell he took it htough, considering he was only the GM, lol.

The bottom line is that William Regal didn't learn from his mistakes in the past, used drugs and he missed a golden opportunity at a major push as an active wrestler.

I dont think he wouldve been active as a wrestler. He was the GM, I think he only wouldve wrestled on occasion, but none theless, as you said, he missed a huge push, something hes never had before...

Fuck you Regal :2up:

^^^What other kinds of "push" are there then?

...Of course it was as an active wrestler!

They'd increased his screen time, gave him KOTR, pulled 'the blackouts'... The heat he was getting was insane... All preperation and ground work for some fueds (Kennedy: Without a doubt, HHH: Rumoured title fued & they'd already had house show matches...).

He was in line for a major push, reports all over the internet were saying the same thing. And the creative department were going to throw him into the main event scene with Triple H and make him look all good before his retirement from wrestling in early 2009 which would probably be after WrestleMania 25.

As I said, he won the King of the Ring tournament, had some good matches and was slowly getting to be a star and was getting a spot weekly on the card of RAW but he messed up his whole career and now they are not going to give another chance to William Regal, missed the golden opportunity.... :y:

Fuck you Regal :2up:

x2, I have always been a Regal fan but now we're not seeing more of him as a wrestler, probably gets fired before Christmas :)

I really hope that it was a mistake on his part. I'm a huge fan of Regal, but I doubt that it was a mistake. Slip-ups happen, he'll be back and 2 months or so.

Yeah, probably 60 days for the suspension :disgust:

But even when he comes back to RAW, they aren't going to make him an active wrestler neither the general manager because he was associated with drugs. And after the Chris Benoit controversies they aren't willing to have such wrestlers on their roster, see the reason for which Chris Masters was fired from WWE forever?

He isn't going to make a name for himself now, it's the end of William Regal my friends, no more William Regal.

Regal is a dumbass. I mean come on, you are getting a push, and you want to look your best? You were getting the push even when you looked like crap, they accepted you then, why wouldn't they accept you now?

to me this sounds like an excuse...

if he says it was a mistake, Then why in the fuck did he have a hold of them..

lol at Regal's excuse, I'm sure everyone is going to believe that! Anyway, the guy probably started to get a little nervous about how he looked because he was actually getting a big push. I dont really get it though, I thought he looked fine. He wasn't that out of shape. Besides, why ruin the best part of your career so you can look more ripped, its not worth it

Maybe I'm just cynical, but after the whole Jeff Hardy thing, and his return, I don't think his suspension will hurt him at all.

As a matter of fact, I would be truly shocked if any wrestler who isn't on the level of say a Paul Burchill or lower was released due to the three strike program. Or at the very least they would be hired back like two months later.

Bingo.

I'm actually interested where Regal will come back though. I think SmackDown, but I'm not quite sure how they are going to use him.

But you can't really blame William Regal if he really was using performance enhancing drugs, this was like his first ever major push in the WWE and he needed to stay energetic, he wanted to have a well-built structure as well and the drugs were a quick way of getting the solid base! :disgust:

Every wrestler, no matter how much they deny the fact... they do take drugs at least twice or thrice in their career when they are being pushed to Main Event status, William Regal did the same.

You can still blame them for making the decision to do them. Nobody forced them to do anything. Quit mollycoddling them.
