Ok. I dont know how you guys feel about this. Its late and I just logged onto ESPN to see yet another rookie bitchfest. Ok, so first off. To explain, the players you watch in college and watch grow. You watch them on TV, you think they are humble, not greedy, and that they are playing for the love of the game. The once they are drafted it all changes, they hold out for more money, or demand trades. I remember when Eli Manning was drafted to San Diego, he demanded a trade because they sucked. Look an Eli now, he is on a Giants team that hasnt gone anywhere because Eli hasnt had the NFL QB vet to learn from. Like Phillip Rivers in San Diego had Drew Brees. I think looking at it now Eli made a career long mistake, first off I dont like him now because we know that he is not playing for love of the game, and Phillip Rivers has already had more success than Eli and has played yet. But anyway I digress. To the season at hand.

The draft turned out to be a flop for some teams and a gold strike for others. This is what leads me to my next point. As we all know JaMarcus Russel went no 1 overall. And Calvin Johnson went no. 2 or whatever. Then that OL lineman went early to the Browns. We also all know that Brady Quinns talking about the draft situation before hand was quite unprofessional and may have been what landed him a lackluster no. 22 overall. I just logged onto ESPN as I said to find that JaMarcus and Brady have not come to terms and are holding out. Now I dont know how all you guys feel, but I find this disrespectful to the game. The Browns have told Quinn that he went no. 22, and thats the way it happened. They do not feel he should be paid more than a no. 22 pick, which I agree with. I also believe that all rookies should start at one generic salary and work from there. Because these guys that get pressified as I am calling it, are trying to get money that they dont deserve, that they havent proven themselves for. And if I was a GM on any NFL team and I got word that a rookie was holding out, I would stop negotiations right there. I know that would probably cause more harm then good because some other greedy GM would scoop him up. But I believe that in football you need a drive, a desire to win, and if all you desire is money, you arent going to make it very far.

Let me know what you guys think.

The money going to the rookies are crazy. Laundry is set to become the top paid safety and he haven't even played a game yet. There should be a rookie salary cap like in the NBA where they start with rookie contracts and can get a better deal after proving their worth.

And about the Brady situation, he's just a greedy dick and hopefully doesn't get his way.

There's a reason why 21 teams passed on him, its wrong for him to think he's better than any of the 21 players drafted ahead of him and demand more money.

^Actually, the teams from 10-21 didnt need a QB, thats why he dropped....

Im not arguing with you that he is kinda greedy, but hey, hes a good QB, and he proved that at Notre Dame

College is totally different than the NFL. I saw some of his interviews on ESPN before the draft, I wouldnt have drafted him either. But that safety getting that money, that is whack. Last I heard Polomalu was the top paid saftey. But I think paying all this money for a guy who hasnt proved his worth in the NFL. Is out of control and it pisses me off!

It is crazy money. And I'm sure that when Polomalu heard the Laundry news, he'll be pissed. When it comes to their turn to free agency, the caps will really explode. Something needs to be done

Its like any industry. How would you feel if an intern gets paid more than you? That is how the senior players are feeling.

Brady Quinn was lucky to have been drafted in the First Round. If one of the top 5 picks decide to hold out, that's ok. But a QB who was passed over and over again?

Its not like Quinn is going to be that good in the NFL anyways. He was good (maybe great) in College. But I see him as a career back-up. As for Russell. he'll sign eventually and if he doesn't, Culpepper will take his spot on at QB and will probably leave Russell on the bench for a couple of years.
