Ronda Rousey defends her UFC Women's Bantamweight Championship against Alexis Davis at UFC 175, which takes place Saturday July 5th from the Mandaly Bay Event Center in Las Vegas as part of a two event weekend. And according to The Great MMA Debate Podcast, that'll be the last we'll see of Rousey in the octagon for a while.

She went on to say.

Ronda Rousey said:
I keep talking about how I’m going to take a break. I really do say every time I’m in camp, ‘oh man, I can’t wait to take a vacation,’ and I really need it this time. I think I’m really going to do it this time. I think I’m going to take a vacation in August, probably like the end of August or beginning of September. I might even go somewhere for like a month just to break it up a little bit because I have been constantly on the go, charging it since 2010 it feels like. I work in quadrennials. So it’s 2014 now. It’s like I’ve gone through a whole Olympic cycle. I’m ready to take a little bit of a break after this one. I can’t go forever, or I will end up burning the candle at both ends at some point. So I’m just going to beat Alexis, I’m going to promote this movie, and then I’m really going to take some time to rest a little bit.

Certainly the champ has a lot going on between both fighting and movies, her most recent title defense against Sara McMann was the shortest break any champion had in between fights since Jon Jones defeated Shogun Rua to capture the UFC Light Heavyweight championship, and she certainly has done well for himself since.

Rousey defeated Miesha Tate for the Strikeforce Women's Bantamweight Championship back in March 2012 and defended it against Sarah Kaufman. When the company was absorbed to the UFC, Rousey became the promotion's first women's bantamweight champion and has defeated the likes of Liz Carmouche, Miesha Tate (again), and Sara McMann.

Certainly sounding a little over confident heading into the Alexis Davis fight. However, I don't see Davis possessing the style to defeat her.. even if she is from Ontario. :(

Between this and the Carano thread, these are some sad news stories. Guess we're never getting that Rousey/Carano match.

She really may be overlooking Alexis and I don't think she should. Alexis is well-rounded enough that she might just be able to cause Ronda some problems.

She may be well rounded but I don't think she possesses the style to pose a real threat to Rousey, and with me not being the biggest fan of Rousey as well as Davis coming from not only my home country but my home province, I can't be anymore objective on that.

The only person that could give Ronda Rousey is a well versed striker, the second Tate fight really showed that Ronda doesn't like being hit in the face 'cause Tate washed that sour look off Ronda's face when she found her rhythm. Somebody with a better striking pedigree like Gina Carano or Cyborg would be the biggest threat to Ronda.
