Fans say they want change. Wwe change. Fans still don't like it. This whole year wwe have been trying to please the hardcore fans. It doesn't work.
"Catering to hardcore's" gives us 3 types of heels. The McMahons and the system they're fighting against based off the real perception of Vince, Baron Corbin or any talentless "big" being perceived as better than the internet darling faces, and whatever generic blonde is designed to get us thinking they have "special privileges". All three of these have one thing in common, they suck.
The heels who've been effective this year are an all-time great face in Bryan who's been a egotistical prick with a self-serving sense of purpose, a multi-layered character where his psyche and hypocrisy was understood... KO, who's just damn good at his job and betrayed the trust of the people who stuck their neck out for them, and Ronda, who just got good enough at talking shit and had enough cred as this MMA badass that Becky one-upped her on the shit talk and tried to overcome her in the ring.
WWE can lean into it when they catch lightning in a bottle, but like NXT showed us, don't worry about going after THESE fans. Hardcore, casual, whatever. Be the best wrestling company you can be. Many fundamentals still work.
