What ROH match do you feel was the biggest let-down, or didn't live up to the hype?

I say Joe vs Kenta Kobashi didn't live up to the hype. It was a great match but is completely overrated by fans...but no match could live up to the hype this match had, but thats just my opinion.

Another match that was a big let down was CIMA vs AJ Styles, I expected much more than what we got...this is the famous match where AJ styles calls a fan a "smurf".

Honorable mention: Low-Ki vs Austin Aries ASE2

I don't agree with Kobashi vs Joe being overrated. I do think that CIMA vs Styles would have been better, even more so when you see that all the other matches CIMA has had in ROH have been great.

My biggest letdown wasn't a match, it was Xavier's run as ROH champ. I don't know why it was done, he was just decent in the ring and when you compare him to other ROH champs, he's crap.

This might just be me, but i want see Nigel Mcguiness win. I mean, he crushes all the midcarders, and when its finally time for him to step up he loses. Most noticably: vs Danielson for the unified belt. vs Somoa Joe in liverpool, and vs Morishima. Personally i think he's kinda their franchise player and should be winning some of these matchups.

I'm not saying the match was a complete letdown because it was a very good match, but you must admit, the hype surrounding this match was overwhelming, and nothing could've lived up to that hype...besides the hot crowed and stiffness of both guys, I think it was a bit above average match...

I feel The Briscoe's vs Davey Richards & KENTA was a bit of a letdown as well

well Kobashi is a little old and cant wrestle like he could when he was younger but it was a decent match and well worth the ***** it was given. i cant really think of a letdown except for the danielson and Joe match from fight of the century. people said it was the best hour draw in ROH history but it didnt live up to the hype.

For me it was Danielson v.s. Homocide at Final Battle 2006, just was not as good as homocides winning moment should have been.

Quoted for Truth. Dream matches will always be overhyped unless both participants are in their prime, which is almost never.

This is exactly what I was thinking when I wrote in Nigel as one of my favorite indy workersin that thread. I luff Nigel. I wish Gabe had a hard on for him instead of this foreign talent. I know that they're great, it just kind of turns me off though. I'll watch Puro when I need my fix, I want to watch ROH when I need my American fix. I don't want to see the world title focused on foreign talent.

The Best of americans super j tournament

That it was run by NJPW...

But i thought this was going be awesome.. but i was dead wrong

you had Danielson vs Spanky the Match of the tournament by far 25 Min match 9/10 great match

Dragon soldier B (this guy flat out sucked) Vs Sydal 8 min 2 stars

shelley vs Black tiger.. Tiger impressed me in this tournament but another too short match about 9 misn 6/10

Gibson vs Strong the 2 best match of this tournament very good match.. well JG vs RS you cant go wrong 8/10.. Gibson got a back injury unsure if it was real or not.. But if not JG sold it very excellent

Gibson vs DSB match flat out sucked 4:00 1.5 star

Danielson Vs Tiger another good match 3rd best of the tournament 8/10 went for 14 mins... great match fans were liking Tiger n so was i...

Final

Tiger Vs DSB 7 min match another pretty crap match for DSB 2 stars...

Guess who Won
Dragon soldier B..... He was the least favourite in this, he cheated and was crap in ring.....

The crowd filled with "don't Come Back" chant.. the guy didn't like that one bit.

but yeah this thing was one of the things that ROH hype a bit for and it's didnt' eveliery very well except for 3 matches out of the 7 Matches......

I knew not all of them be good/classic but i didnt thought 3 matches would be between 1.5-2 stars rating..

the main event on the show is freaking awesome Austin Aries vs Homicide

I was there live for Joe/Kobashi and thought it was amazing.

Was there live for both Aries/Ki matches and also thought they were great.

CIMA/AJ Styles had no hype whatsoever. I didn't think it was horrible. I thought it was an average match on both guy's standards. BTW, AJ calls people smurf all the time.

I still want my money back for Best of American Super Juniors.

Hero vs. American Dragon at Hell Freezes Over is my pick for biggest let down.

^ I forgot about that match, it had hype as it was the first huge CZW vs ROH match and I guess both guys were unfamiliar with each other because they really put on a bad match. Dragon vs Hero was completely overshadowed by Styles vs Sydal, and I think it was a hard match to follow. If it was a lead in match, I probably wouldn't criticize it that much, but I expected a lot more from both men.
