I'm going to the Long Island show tomorrow, and it looks like a solid show considering their biggest show is the next day.

Main Event #1- Tag Team Challenge

===================================================

I hear ROH is looking to move to the Hammerstein Ballroom on May 10th. That holds 2000, and ROH generally pulls in 1300 at the manhattan center. The NY shows are generally very packed, but htey do not turn anyone away.

Thoughts?

I would buy the DVD of ROH in the Hammerstien Ballroom. Those NYC fans are finally getting some good wrestling, first the amazing TNA house show and now Ring Of Honor is going to put on an amazing show. The Dragon/Nigel match is going to be match of the year, I am predicting ***** stars.

EDIT: I live really close to NYC, I'll try to get some tickets

I dont know why, but i think they may go a long time. Like 40 minutes +. Perhaps even a one hour draw.

I get the feeling they'll sell place out. The card is will likely be STACKED for that show. And here's hoping that there's not more weather problems tonight.

Also, PREDICTIONS!!

ROH World Title Match
Nigel McGuinness defends vs. Bryan Danielson

No DQ FIP World Heavyweight Title Match
Roderick Strong defends vs. Erick Stevens vs. The Necro Butcher

ROH World Tag Team Title Match
Rocky Romero & Davey Richards defend vs. Ruckus & Jigsaw with Julius Smokes

First Time Ever
Austin Aries vs. Go Shiozaki

Grudge Match
El Generico vs. Brent Albright

Special Challenge Match

Edit: There's some early speculation about bringing in RVD and Sabu to team up at Hammerstein to take on the Briscoes. Again, its just speculation up until this point.

2/23 ROH in Deer Park Results & Thoughts

Nigel McGuiness, Davey Richards, Brent Albright, Tyler Black, Erick Stevens and Roderick Strong were announced as not showing up. Joey Matthews didn't wrestle either, but wasn't announced. It was a really small venue, but it was packed. Hopefully ROH upgrades to a bigger venue next time they go to LI (if my high school gym is bigger than where they have a show, it means they really need to improve).

First Round Tournement Matches:
Block A
(1) Bryan Danielson d. Rocky Romero.
A really technical, almost shoot fight type of match. Was pretty good if you're a fan of submission wrestling. But the people that don't know what it is got bored watching it. Romero's kicks are STIFF and he worked over Danielson's taped leg. Danielson advances by making Romero tap to an armbar. The crowd was hot and someone yelled "4-4-4-8" to Romero, classic.

(2) Kevin Steen d. Delirious.
The first 3 or 4 minutes were comedy spots, and they were pretty good, with Steen and Delirious messing with the ref and each other. Rest of the match was pretty good, and Steen wins via Senton Bomb.

Block B
(3) El Generico d. Austin Aries.
Crowd was mostly behind Generico. A good, solid match with both men getting their spots in with lots of false finishes. Aries was busted open from a boot to the corner. Aries hit the brainbuster, but then went for the 450. Generico knocked him down and rolled him up for the win. I had a feeling Generico was going to win, so Aries wouldn't have to wrestle Go.

(4) Go Shiozaki d. Necro Butcher.
Most people didn't who Go was, but he grew onto the fans throughout the night. This was one stiff match, with the use of chairs (3 dented), the guard rail and the announcer's shoe. Go's chops are brutal and he really lit Necro up.
Go won,with a moonsault.

- Larry Sweeney held the first edition of his talk show. Shane Hagadorn was his guest. Just a segment to further the Bobby Dempsey stuff and to make fun of the crowd.

Second Round Tournement Matches:

(5) Kevin Steen d. Bryan Danielson.
Upset of the night, but like I said before, Danielson vs Go would be for later. Steen worked over the leg like Romero. Steen started to sell his left ear legit, I guess from one of Dragon's forearms. Not that many big spots, and the finish came when no one thought it would.

(6) Go Shiozaki d. El Generico.
My favorite match of the night, Shiozaki overpowered Generico and chopped him up pretty good. Lots of back and forth action and selling. A huge change of pace from Go's first match. He won after 2 Suplex to Powerbomb's.

Intermission - Moustache guy is awesome.

(7) Jason Blade won a 4 Corner Survival d. Pelle Primeau, Mitch Frankin and The Human Tornado.
Nothing special here, with Tornado and Blade had most of the spots. Blade is a good heel, but his in ring skills are decent. Tornado did his spots and the crowd loved him. End of the match, Tornado did a pretty flip dive to Pelle, and with both out of the ring, Blade finished off Franklin.

-Tornado got on the mic and said he wanted to bring more women out. He was way over. He called out Lacey, she came out and did her b****ing, Jacobs ran in and tried to attack him, and he left. Jacobs introduces Zach Gowen and starts the next match.

(8) Ruckus & Jigsaw d. Jimmy Jacobs & Zach Gowen.
Julius Smokes was really over, wearing a Giants jersey. Jigsaw and Gowen did most of the work, and Ruckus and Jacobs got the hot tags. jacobs slowed down the match, and was getting tons of heat. Standard tag match, and Gowen busted his a**.

Tournement Finals:
(9) Kevin Steen d. Go Shiozaki to earn a shot at the ROH Title.
Another very good match. They worked stiff and Steen was still selling his ear. When they fought to the outside, Steen did a frog splash off the guard rail, which was LOUD. Go kicked out of a few signature moves, including the Package Piledriver. After the second Piledriver, Go was pinned. Another upset, bot I was satisfied with the win. Generico and Steen celebrated and said that they'll have gold soon. Go almost refused a handshake, so I thought he was a heel, but he finally shook.

Final thoughts - Great Show. I think it was a blessing in disguise for all the absences, probably better than what would have been. The idiot fans were probably at TNA, and the crowd was into it. Kevin Steen and Go Shiozaki are now on my "favorite wrestlers" list. You should pick it up on DVD.

-Ticket guy spilled the beans on the Hammerstein Ballroom show, hopefully they'll come back to LI again.

Results from Last night's 6th anniversary show which included a FINALLY HEEL NIGEL MCGUINESS!!

1) Zach Gowen pinned Pelle Primeau with a Moonsault.

2) Nigel cuts a heel promo and teases no defending the belt at the show until Danielson comes out and puts over the legacy of the ROH title, lots of boos for Nigel.

3) Brent Albright defeated El Generico following a ref's stoppage due to repeated knee strikes to the head by Albright.

4) Stuff with Sweeney, Dempsey and a returning Allison Danger happened. Sweeney announced a hostile takeover of ROH by Sweet and Sour Inc.

5) Kevin Steen defeated Joey Matthews after making him tap to the Sharpshooter.

6) Aries defeats Shiozaki with a brainbuster/450 combo for the win.Post-match Tyler Black and Jimmy Jacobs are up in the balcony trying to persuade Aries to join The Age Of The Fall. Tammy Sytch comes out and interrupts the recruitment. Tammy recruits Aries. She offers him "more". Aries says that he will take some time to decide and leaves.

7) Sara Del Ray defeats Daizee Haze to retain the SHIMMER Title.

8) Davey Richards and Rocky Romero def Jigsaw and Ruckus to retain the ROH Tag Titles. Richards and Romero win when Davey hits a sitout powerbomb for the win on Jigsaw. After the match Jigsaw refused to take off the mask and left.Kevin Steen and El Generico are in the crowd with a mic.Steen and Generico challenge the NRC to a fight and want a title shot. The NRC accept and then run when Steen and Generico hit the ring and Steen and Generico chase them to the back.

9) Roderick Strong defeats Erick Stevens and Necro Butcher to retain the FIP Title. Strong retains the title when he pins Necro. Match is said to be a brutal brawl.

10) Nigel McGuinness defeats Bryan Danielson to retain the ROH Title. Nigel hits the ref and gets DQ'ed. Aries and all the babyfaces come out and demand Nigel wrestle or go through all of them. The match is restarted. McGuiness wins after Danielson blacked out in the London'd Dungeon (Nigel's new submission). The match was said to have been good, but not as good as their match from Driven. Nigel is a full-blown heel now.
