19TH ANNIVERSARY RECAP: FUTURE OF ROH REVEALED!

BALTIMORE (March 26, 2021) -- With rumors swirling in recent months, as the 19th Anniversary of ROH loomed, viewers got more than they bargained for last night when a huge announcement was made that stands to completely change Ring of Honor as we know it!

But last night’s PPV was anything but uneventful outside of this company-changing announcement. Quite the contrary. Multiple titles would change hands on the night, a new faction made its presence felt, and some landmark news came down about the revival of the women’s division within Ring of Honor!

Let’s lead off with the faction warfare that dominated the evening. Much of this show revolved around the ongoing struggle between La Faccion Ingobernable and The Foundation. It would be Tracy Williams of The Foundation who landed the first haymaker in this fight when he pulled off a victory against Kenny King, who was defending the World Television Title on behalf of the injured Dragon Lee, in order to add another piece of gold to The Foundation’s repertoire.

Far from done there, The Foundation would double down later in the night when Tracy Williams and Rhett Titus overcame Kenny King and Bestia del Ring to also take control of the World Tag Team Titles. In doing so, “Hot Sauce” would become the first man in ROH history to win two different titles on the same night. With tensions reaching a fever pitch, Kenny King and Bestia del Ring would prove the viciousness of LFI when they attacked their own manager, Amy Rose, following the loss of the tag match. We understand that Amy is in stable condition, but King and Bestia made it crystal clear in disturbing fashion that she is no longer a factor in LFI.

Following up on The Foundation’s string of successes, “The Octopus” Jonathan Gresham would conquer the towering Dak Draper in a grueling Pure Title defense. Despite the significant size advantage of Draper, Gresham’s proficiency with holds and submissions proved to be the difference maker as Draper ran out of rope breaks in this contest, leading to Gresham choking out “The Mile High Magnum”.

In the main event of the evening, the war between LFI and The Foundation came to a crescendo. Facing the possibility of suffering a clean sweep, World Champion RUSH managed to rise to the occasion and secure a win over “The Franchise” Jay Lethal, thanks in no small part to gratuitous interference by the other members of LFI. RUSH finished Lethal off with a second Bull’s Horns to ensure that the grandest prize in Ring of Honor remained in possession of La Faccion Ingobernable.

But the night wasn’t over for LFI or The Foundation just yet, as chaos soon descended upon the ring! Brody King led a group consisting of himself, Homicide, Tony Deppen and Chris Dickinson to swarm the ring and mangle members of both LFI and The Foundation in brutal fashion! Following the shocking display of savagery, Brody King procured a microphone to declare that violence had arrived in Ring of Honor, christening his new group of rogues “Violence Unlimited”!

Now, to address the two major announcements that transpired on the broadcast…

Firstly, we received an announcement from ROH Board of Directors member Maria Kanellis-Bennett that a tournament would be held throughout the following months to crown a new champion for the vacant ROH World Women’s Championship. Maria promised fans a crop of impressive female talents that would combine current Ring of Honor stars with special outside guests and the hottest free agents in the world! She also promised to provide fans with more details on the ins-and-outs of the tournament on the upcoming episode of Week-by-Week, hosted by Quinn McKay.

And lastly, the news that has been reverberating throughout the wrestling world for the past 12 hours since being made official during the 19th Anniversary Show: Ring of Honor is set to enter a new era as they are officially under new ownership!

That’s right. Insiders of the wrestling world have speculated for months about the possibility of Ring of Honor changing hands, and it is now a done deal. During last night’s PPV, Ian Riccaboni broke the news on air that as of this week, Ring of Honor has been acquired by Triller LLC! Recently, Triller has made headlines in the world of combat sports, having acquired long-time ROH partner FITE TV and promoting the high profile boxing match between Mike Tyson and Roy Jones, Jr. as well as the upcoming Jake Paul vs. Ben Askren fight under the Triller Fight Club banner. Now, Ring of Honor joins this expanding family, with the promise of continuing to deliver the highest quality of wrestling in the world, with the exciting prospects of reaching a wider audience base!

Accompanying this announcement was the announcement that Ring of Honor would be returning to traveling and presenting shows in front of live audiences beginning in the very near future with a supercard titled “The Return” scheduled for May 22nd at The Bomb Factory in Dallas, Texas! This will be followed by a special live episode of television from the historic Center Stage Theater in Atlanta, Georgia the very next night! From there on, Ring of Honor will continue to tour and bring the distinctly enthralling ROH product to fans across the country!

Here are the complete results from the action-packed 4 hour extravaganza:

-- Brian Johnson won a Four Corner Survival Match against Eli Isom, Leon St. Giovanni and Danhausen, pinning Danhausen after hitting The Process.

-- Shane Taylor Promotions retained the World Six-Man Tag Team Titles, defeating MexiSquad after Shane Taylor hit Flamita with a Cointel. After the match, MexiSquad argued, prompting Rey Horus to propose a triple threat match between himself, Bandido and Flamita to settle their problems.

-- Tracy Williams defeated Kenny King for the World Television Title, after Amy Rose threw the tag title belt into the ring for Kenny King to use, only for Williams to hit King with a piledriver onto the belt. King was defending the title on behalf of the injured Dragon Lee.

-- Flip Gordon defeated Mark Briscoe using the Flip-5, following an evenly matched contest.

-- In a rubber match, Dalton Castle defeated Josh Woods with a roll up, after Silas Young hit his own partner in the skull with a chair. Young had attempted to implore Woods to use the chair on Castle, but Woods refused, leading Young to hit Woods and then berate him for defying him.

-- Jay Briscoe won an intense battle with EC3. The esoteric EC3 had challenged Jay to prove to him that honor is still real, and attempted to play mind games with the temperamental Briscoe Brother throughout this contest. After weathering a furious storm of offense from Jay, EC3 offered up his hand for Jay to shake. Jay did so, before finishing EC3 with the Jay Driller. After the match, the Code of Honor was adhered to by both men.

-- Bandido defeated his fellow MexiSquad members Flamita and Rey Horus in the next contest. During the match, Flamita declared that there was “no more MexiSquad”, making his feelings known on where he stands with his old running mates. Bandido would ultimately get the win with the 21 Plex on Flamita.

-- Matt Taven and Vincent’s highly personal rivalry continued in an Unsanctioned Match that took place in PAL Hall in Fall River, Massachusetts - the two men’s old stomping grounds. After a brawl that spilled all throughout the building, a mysterious mountain of a man dressed in overalls knocked the two of them off of a balcony, down through some tables below. The man then picked Vincent up, and carried him out of the building to conclude the unbridled battle.

-- Jonathan Gresham retained the Pure Title when he put Dak Draper to sleep with a sleeper hold. Draper passed out in the ropes, after he had already used the allowed number of rope breaks and was unable to escape the hold.

-- The Foundation added more gold to their faction, when Tracy Williams and Rhett Titus defeated Bestia del Ring and Kenny King. The match fell apart when Bestia del Ring demanded Amy Rose hand him a chair, and was displeased when she slid it into the ring rather than placing it in his hands. While Bestia was preoccupied, Titus capitalized and would make Bestia submit to a crouching full nelson. After the match, there was an argument between Bestia, King and Rose. Rose flipped off King, but was coaxed back into the ring, where King directed Bestia to “finish her”. Bestia then hit Rose with a spear and she was left laid out by LFI.

-- In the main event, RUSH defeated Jay Lethal with a Bull’s Horn to retain the World Championship. It was a very even match where both men unloaded with their best stuff. As expected though, LFI interfered and even hit Lethal with a steel chair during the match. Todd Sinclair used his discretion and chose not to end the match though. The Foundation arrived to even the odds and fight off LFI, but inside the ring RUSH was just too much for Lethal, finishing him off with a second Bull’s Horn to keep his title.

-- After the match ended, the fight continued between the warring factions. LFI got the better of The Foundation, when Brody King and his new Violence Unlimited group arrived and laid out LFI. King then helped Lethal to his feet, only to blast Lethal with a clothesline and order Homicide to devastate him with the Cop Killer! As the show went off air, King declared that a new generation of violence was here to crush Ring of Honor!

ROH WRESTLING #497
MARCH 29, 2021
UMBC EVENT CENTER • BALTIMORE, MARYLAND

Following the standard opening of ROH Wrestling, we cut directly to a video package from the 19th Anniversary Show last Friday.

The video highlights the match-up between Jay Lethal and RUSH over the World Championship, including the multiple interferences from La Facción Ingobernbale and the arrival of The Foundation to chase them off. We see RUSH kicking out of the Lethal Injection before hitting Lethal with The Bull’s Horns TWICE in order to pick up the victory. It shows LFI returning after the bell to continue the beatdown on Lethal, and then laying out The Foundation who try to come in for the save once more. There’s a shift in the tone of the video package as Brody King arrives with a microphone, telling RUSH that ever since RUSH returned with LFI, he has had the numbers advantage on King, but now… King has numbers of his own.

Business suddenly picks up with the arrival of Tony Deppen, Homicide and Chris Dickinson who take it to LFI and quickly dispatch the domineering faction. Lethal stirs awake and finds himself alone in the ring with King, Homicide, Dickinson and Deppen. King offers Lethal his hand and Lethal accepts, only for King to suddenly decapitate Lethal with a huge lariat! Not finished there, King directs Homicide to finish the job, so Homicide lifts Lethal and drives him into the mat with a Cop Killer! The video package ends with this new faction known as Violence Unlimited standing tall over Lethal’s battered body, as the show faded off air.

This scene dissolves to find Jay Lethal, along with the rest of The Foundation, standing backstage with Quinn McKay.

Quinn McKay: Jay, what we just watched was the final moments of ROH’s 19th Anniversary Show where Brody King debuted his new group in ruthless fashion and seemed to target you specifically in order to make a statement. Coming off of the disappointment of your title match with RUSH and being brutalized by Violence Unlimited, where is your mind at going forward?

The Franchise of ROH takes a deep breath and looks around at his stable mates, before turning back towards the camera.

Jay Lethal: Friday night I said that the most important thing in my life was me and my brothers in The Foundation defeating LFI and taking their belts in order to set ROH right. Look around me, Quinn. You see Tracy “Hot Sauce” Williams carrying the Television Title, and you’ll also notice that he and Rhett Titus are holding the World Tag Team Titles. We took those belts right off the waists of those LFI scumbags! Gresh, well, he survived an amazing contest with Dak Draper in order to keep that Pure Title. As far as I’m concerned, he is THE top guy in ROH right now. But what about me, Quinn?

Quinn McKay: Well I-

Jay Lethal: All I left the 19th Anniversary Show with is a sore neck and a bruised ego! Push all those excuses to the side, the bottom line is that when the chips were down and it was time for me to finish the job, I didn’t get it done! RUSH pinned my shoulders 1-2-3 right there in the middle of the ring, and because of that, LFI are still at large! We put a dent in their armor but let’s not kid ourselves - they’re going to bounce back. And now…

Lethal clenches his fists and grits his teeth. He has to walk off screen for just a second, before coming back into the frame and pointing into the camera.

Jay Lethal: NOW, Brody King has decided to insert himself into this situation! Brody, trust me, if anyone can relate with you when it comes to dealing with LFI’s BS, it’s me! The Foundation has been fighting relentlessly to get this trash out of Ring of Honor for months, but now you’ve shown up while we have LFI on the ropes, and you’re going to try to derail all of our progress? Why!? To soothe your own ego? To keep your own name in the headlines? Whatever the reason, let me make something crystal clear to you and your boys - there isn’t a stronger, more unified force in all of Ring of Honor than The Foundation! We stand as one, we fight as one, and we do it all in the name of maintaining the reputation of the company that we all love to our dying breath! So let this be a message to both the LFI and Violence Unlimited that The Foundation is going to reclaim this company in the name of honor come hell or high water, and there is nothing… NOTHING… that you can do to stop us!

With that, Lethal takes off and his compatriots follow close behind, leaving Quinn standing nodding her head.

We then cut to the ringside area where our commentary team of Ian Riccaboni and Caprice Coleman welcome us to ROH Wrestling in the still-vacant UMBC Event Center in Baltimore! Ian says we are in for a great night of action, as Eli Isom will take on Silas Young in a bid to prove himself and take the next step in his career. Caprice adds that the main event of the evening will be Fred Yehi and Wheeler Yuta battling Bestia del Ring and Kenny King in tag team action. Caprice talks about how at the 19th Anniversary Show, King and Bestia dropped the World Tag Team belts to Tracy Williams and Rhett Titus, and will be looking to avenge that loss by gaining a win over two of The Foundation’s apprentices in Yehi and Yuta.

Ian then broaches the subject of Ring of Honor’s recent acquisition by Triller, LLC. He puts over the exciting prospects of the future of ROH, saying that in the coming months, Ring of Honor will be welcoming fans back to live shows and are excited to unveil a number of surprises! Ian says more details are to come in the near future, but for now - it’s time to get down to the action!

SILAS YOUNG vs. ELI ISOM

In the night’s opening contest, it will be the upstart Dojo graduate Eli Isom taking on the gruff vet Silas Young, who just days ago pulled a shock turn on his tag team partner Josh Woods on account of a perceived disrespect. Young is the first one to make his way to the ring, and naturally he does so without much flamboyance. Isom enters next, wearing his signature jacket and futuristic black mask. Isom is prepared for a war with one of ROH’s most respected, but apparently he isn’t quite prepared enough as Young ambushes him mid-entrance!

Silas clobbers Eli as he is coming between the ropes and kicks the middle rope up into Eli’s groin. Eli falls into the ring, gripping his injured pelvis. Silas removes the mask Eli wears for his entrance and just disrespectfully flings it deep into the stands. He puts the boots into Eli as the referee pleads for him to back it up. Silas finally relents once he’s gotten his fill, backing up into the corner and posing dispassionately. Eli struggles to his feet, selling the effects of the attack, as the referee asks if he wishes to continue. Eli defiantly tells the referee “hell yes” and so he calls for the bell.

Silas rushes across the ring to take advantage of the situation, but Eli is quick on the draw and pulls Silas into a schoolboy, gaining a quick 2 count to Silas’ surprise. Silas slows it down, and propositions Eli for a collar-elbow tie-up. Eli’s youth betrays him once more, as it turns out to just be a trap by Silas. Silas smears him with a vicious uppercut and proceeds to batter the young gun. “The Last Real Man” displays some of that signature aggression, just wearing Eli down for several minutes with a variety of holds, before throwing him into the corner and unleashing some sharp knife edge chops on him. He drives Isom down with a Michinoku Driver, but only gets a two count. Isom attempts a comeback, and is able to secure a couple of offensive moves, until Silas retakes control by knocking Isom’s feet out from under him on the top turnbuckle. Silas climbs up to join Isom and delivers a huge superplex down to the mat. He again hooks the leg, but Isom refuses to go away, kicking out at 2 once more.

Silas lays some crossface strikes in to punish Isom before sending him into the corner. He follows him in but Isom gets the boots up into Young's mush. Isom hops to the middle rope and comes soaring off to catch "The Last Real Man" with a tornado DDT. Eli is now firing up, while still milking some of his injuries. He calls for Silas to stand up, and as Silas does so, he comes rushing across the ring. Silas ducks and sends Eli over the top rope, but Eli is able to land on the apron. He socks Silas with a big forearm before heading to the high rent district. "Infinite" Eli comes soaring down onto Silas with a big crossbody - he's swinging for the fences! Isom looks to make the cover on Young, but the wily veteran rolls out of the ring to save his own skin. Eli slams the mat in frustration but hurries to capitalize on his momentum. He lines Silas up, and when Silas turns back toward the ring, Eli comes crashing down on him with a plancha! Eli again summons fire from deep within and lets out a primal growl. He looks to continue his flurry but as he bends over to grab Silas, Silas grabs him by his dreadlocks and yanks him down, sending him careening into the steps!

Having bought himself some time, Silas sneers, looking over at Eli, almost as if to say "you've got some nerve, kid". Silas is back to his feet and decides to break the referee's count, rolling in and then back out of the ring. At this point, Eli is slowly staggering back up. Silas is quick to put an end to that, cutting Eli down with a chop block. Silas slaps the upstart on the back of his head, displaying pure loathing for his adversary. He pulls Isom up and with pure disregard for his opponent's wellbeing, he delivers a devastating shin breaker onto the steel steps! Eli immediately hits the floor, grasping at his low leg and wincing in pain. Referee Joe Mandak reprimands Silas and does his best to convince Silas to bring the match back into the ring, but this isn't Young's first rodeo and he's looking to send a painful message.

Silas takes the steel steps apart, tossing aside the top half of them. He grabs Eli by the foot, puts a couple of stomps to the back of his knee, and then drags him over so that his lower leg is placed on the base of the steps. At this point, Mandak drops out of the ring to plead with Silas. Silas places one boot on Eli's ankle to hold his leg in place and prepares to stomp down on the shin bone with his other boot, but then Josh "The Goods" Woods emerges from the back and rushes down to ringside, yelling at Silas to cut this out. A dastardly grin comes across Young's face seeing Woods out here trying to save the day. He steps off of Eli's leg and walks up to Josh, getting right in his face as the two chirp back and forth. Josh is careful not to lay hands on Silas due to the match still going on, but Silas has no qualms about shoving Josh and daring him to take a shot!

It's just at that moment that Eli Isom bursts back into frame, ramming Silas from behind and sending him head first into the post! Woods backs away with a smile as Eli desperately looks to take advantage. He grabs Silas and pulls him up, although Silas is so dazed he can barely keep his legs under him. Eli sends him into the ring and follows close behind. He doesn't give Silas a second of reprieve, immediately pulling him up, lifting him into a vertical suplex and dropping him straight down on his cranium with a lethal brainbuster he's dubbed The Promise! Eli hooks the legs of Young and makes sure to put all his weight into the pin as the referee drops down and counts the 1-2-3!

Eli rolls off of Silas and onto his knees. He throws both fists in the air, basking in this win - the biggest win of his short career. Ian and Caprice don't hide their excitement either, as Ian puts over how Eli had to overcome some less than commendable tactics by Silas to eek out the win. Caprice says it's just a good thing that Josh Woods showed up to prevent Silas from taking things too far or else Isom would have been on ice! Eli rolls out of the ring where Josh Woods is there to congratulate him, patting him on the back and raising his hand. We conclude the segment with a shot of Silas lying on the canvas, holding his head and staring daggers at Woods and Isom.

OFFICIAL RESULT: Eli Isom defeats Silas Young by pinfall (9:55)

From the match, we flash over to the announce desk once more where Ian and Caprice inform us that earlier today, ROH received a tape from Vincent and we’re going to take a look at it now.

Firstly, we see distorted clips from the 19th Anniversary Show where Vincent and Matt Taven took part in a brawl at their old stomping grounds of PAL Hall in Fall River, Massachusetts. The eerily warped video is backed by some gloomy ambient music. It wraps up with the end of the match, which saw a husky and unkempt man wearing a pair of overalls knocking both Taven and Vincent off of a balcony and through a set of tables, before picking up Vincent and carrying him away.

We then cut to a darkened room, where there's some smoky blues playing in the background. As the camera distorts, there's mild chatter. Jump cut - we are now looking upon a bright lamp on a small wooden desk. The audio is still unclear but we can see a burly figure standing in the background, however the camera is too low to identify them. A second figure walks on camera and drags a chair from behind the desk. It makes an uncomfortable screech as the figure lowers to reveal Vincent, who stares down the camera with a smile.

Vincent: Sometimes I sit and I think to myself, 'what has it all been for, Vincent?', 'what have you to show for it all?'. But for me, this has never been about glory or gold, it's just been about him. I like to think of myself as the man with the plan... I have to, I have people who look up to me. I have you... but what can I say? Somewhere along the line, I just got caught up in the madness and the hysteria of it all, and I'm left infatuated.

He turns his head to the figure behind him.

Vincent: Now everybody's looking to me for answers and...

Vincent shrugs before looking back to the camera, scoffing.

Vincent: I don't have them. How can I give you answers I don't have myself? I can't tell you what it's all been for, but what I do know is that after two years of this merry dance, that final tango in Fall River… isn't how it ends. You've burrowed into my mind, Matt. I know you think about me too… as a brother, as a friend, as a powerful enemy… but I think about you more. Isn't that odd? I guess you could say, I've tasted blood and I want more.

There's a slight chuckle.

Vincent: We've shared so many moments over the past two years, Matt, it would almost be an insult to the universe to stop it now. Of course, you have your pride, you'll say that you're finished with me but I know you better than any man or woman in Ring of Honor! Better than Mike and probably better than you know yourself. There's a reason for that and that's why you still dance the dance with me. I'm the only person who knows the true Matt Taven, underneath the façade of “The Trend”. It's pungent, it's disgusting. You smile and wave like you’re Miss California but underneath the razmataz, you're utterly bankrupt. If pride was an ocean, you'd be drowning, and I'm the one person who has witnessed the ugliness that lurks beneath. I have to end this, Matt, otherwise it really will be all for nothing. You can ignore me, you can appease me, but even when I'm not around I will continue to consume your thoughts as you do mine!

“The Righteous One” looks off camera and raises his hand, bringing us forward as the camera zooms in.

Vincent: The Board can only guard you for so long Matt. It's time to think about what's really best for you. I know that the egomaniac Matt Taven won't be satisfied with how it ended before, so it's time to make it right and if you won't take my hand… well, I have ways and means of making that happen. Ya dig that Dutch?

The camera zooms out, flickering as Vincent looks behind him. The very same man we had seen carry Vincent out at the 19th Anniversary Show steps forward. The brute looks unwashed and untamed but does not make a sound. Vincent stands up from his seat, pats Dutch on the back and walks off-camera. Dutch, meanwhile, continues to stare down the barrel of the camera. Off camera, we can hear Vincent call towards the cameraman.

Vincent: Make sure you get that sent, I want you to make sure he receives it!

As Dutch continues to stare menacingly into the camera, the feed cuts to blackness after a quick and sudden burst of static.

We flash to the back where La Facción Ingobernable is standing by in a dimly lit area with a LFI banner hanging in the background. RUSH stands at the front of the group in his signature all-white suit, with the ROH World Heavyweight Championship over his shoulder and his head down so that his long black locks cover his face. His father Bestia del Ring and his right hand man Kenny King are standing with their arms crossed behind him, staring down the camera. After a moment, RUSH raises his head and stares menacingly into the camera. He speaks in his thick Spanish accent.

RUSH: The 19th Anniversary show was supposed to be the night that La Facción Ingobernable cemented our position at the top of Ring of Honor!

He pauses, and looks over his shoulder at the rest of his group. He turns back to the camera.

RUSH: Well, things didn’t quite turn out that way. So now, we regroup. We get our heads on right…

Again, he leers at King and Bestia.

RUSH: ...and we come back STRONGER!

Kenny King: That’s exactly what we’re going to do!

RUSH: Cierra la boca!

RUSH puts his hand up, ordering King to pipe down. King begrudgingly complies.

RUSH: We showed the world that weakness would not be tolerated in LFI when we kicked Amy Rose to the curb. Now, we begin the process of rising back to the top! That all begins tonight when La Bestia and Kenny make an example out of The Foundation’s little pelagatos! And then, it’s up from there. Let me remind you all that El Toro Blanco is still the Ring of Honor World Champion, I am still the man to beat in this company and until someone wrestles this title away from me, La Facción Ingobernable are still the top dogs in Ring of Honor!

RUSH and his faction-mates leave the scene, and we fade to ringside.

Back at the announce desk, Ian and Caprice take a moment to announce next week’s match-ups. They reveal Danhausen will take on Brian Johnson to settle their differences. Danhausen defeated Brian Johnson back at Final Battle, and Brian Johnson pinned Danhausen in the four corner survival match at the 19th Anniversary Show, so this will be something of a rubber match between them. Also, Chris Dickinson of Violence Unlimited makes his ROH TV debut when he takes on Dojo grad Joe Keys in a singles match. And in the main event, it will be Bandido and Rey Horus of MexiSquad squaring off with The Bouncers who have recently added Ken Dixon to their ranks. Dixon is looking to take The Bouncers is a more aggressive direction, so Bandido and Horus will likely have their hands full with the super heavyweights next week!

This takes us into our main event of the evening...

KENNY KING and BESTIA DEL RING vs. WHEELER YUTA and FRED YEHI

The main event of the evening saw La Facción Ingobernable's Kenny King and La Bestia del Ring take on the upstarts of Fred Yehi and Wheeler Yuta. While there is no title to put on the line, the four men go out of their way to make it feel like there are stakes in this match, that being said, a win for either team would certainly elevate them into contention, which was essential for LFI after losing the titles in the first place. Ian and Caprice remind us that both RUSH and The Foundation are likely to be watching this intently, the latter having taken Yehi and Yuta under their wing, teaching them the ways of Pure wrestling.

Senior official Todd Sinclair calls for the code of Honor, with both Yehi and Yuta extending their hands to King and La Bestia, who simply look at each other and laugh. King goes in for the shake, before quickly faking out and laughing in Yehi's face. Sinclair calls for the bell, with Yehi assertively transitioning his offer of a handshake into a wristlock, taking King aback. 'Bonafide' Fred Yehi locks King in and hits a thunderous chop to the chest, which only echoes further throughout the empty UMBC Event Center. Keeping wrist control, Yehi goes for another chop as he his confidence begins to grow, King manages to swerve a second chop and throws his opponent into the ropes but Yehi manages to duck the clothesline attempt and throw a low dropkick into the knee of King - an area that Kenny has historically had issues with.

Rather than going for the cover, Yehi tags Yuta into the match, hitting a running knee to the back of a seated King while Yehi follows up with a beautiful dropkick to the front. Yuta attempts the cover as Sinclair makes a count to two before La Bestia makes his way in to break things up. Sinclair warns La Bestia to remain in his corner, distracting Yuta somewhat as King sweeps the legs to take his opponent down and locks in a headscissors. King looks over to Yehi and begins to talk trash, breaking the hold to stomp viciously on the shoulder blades of Wheeler Yuta. Yuta crawls to the corner, unfortunately for him, it's LFI territory as King begins to stomp a mudhole into his opponent while Sinclair tries to hold the former World Television Champion back. The distraction once again allows for La Bestia to take matters into his own hands, dropping down from the corner and grinding Yuta's face into the mat. Yehi makes matters worse for his partner by trying to appeal to Todd Sinclair which allows for La Bestia to hold Yuta in the corner while Kenny hits some brutal shotgun knees!

King drags Yuta away from the ropes as he makes the cover for a two-count, Yehi begins to look concerned from the other side of the ring as he tries to keep his partner motivated with words of encouragement. King brings Yehi to his feet hitting a body scissors for another two count, he follows up looking for a forearm but Yuta counters with a school boy roll-up of his own! 1… 2… NO! Yuta regains some momentum as he runs into King but Kenny hoists his opponent into the air with an almighty spinebuster! But before he can go for the cover, Yuta manages to roll to the outside, showing great ring awareness. Yuta attempts to recover while King demands that he comes back into the match, telling Yehi to go and gather his partner. Yuta manages to make his way back to the apron, King has his number and tosses him back into the ring. King then springboards off the second rope for a leg drop… and misses! This could be the opening that Yuta needs. He looks around the arena but does not make the tag, despite Yehi's encouragement. Instead, he sizes King up in the corner… STINGER SPLASH! Seizing the opportunity, Yuta throws King down and makes his way to the top rope. La Bestia makes his way down the apron but Sinclair warns him back. FLYING SPLASH! This could be the change that Yuta and Yehi need to take control… but King catches him and looks for a spinning backbreaker… NO! TORNADO DDT BY YUTA! BOTH MEN ARE DOWN!

Yuta crawls to the corner slowly while Kenny King manages to get to his feet. Having sustained less punishment in the match, he opts not to tag but instead drags Yuta back into the centre of the ring and locks in a beautiful bow and arrow - stretching out the leg of Wheeler Yuta. Yuta writhes in pain while Yehi stomps on the outside, trying to will his partner on. Following a teased submission finish, Yuta manages to make his way to the ropes, where King makes full use of the five count. Ian and Caprice discuss how Sinclair has historically not been afraid to throw a match out for failing to break the count but King stands back and pleads ignorance, gesturing for the referee to step aside. Kenny grabs the legs but Yuta has hold of the bottom ropes. King's intentions seem clear as he goes to pull him out… but Yuta lands on his feet and hits a back elbow! Out of pure desperation Yuta finally manages to make the tag to Fred Yehi, who comes in hot.

Yehi hits a running back elbow of his own, knocking King down as he comes face to face with La Bestia on the other side of the ring. Once again, the distraction appears worthwhile as Yehi's attempt to run the ropes are thwarted by King pulling him back using the tights. He goes for the back suplex but Yehi, being the fresher man, manages to drop back and grab King into a wristlock again. This time, in a display of strength, Yehi lifts the 229 pound King in the air and throws him across the ring into the mat. La Bestia makes the tag but hesitates to step in, causing Yehi to make his way over… EDDY GORDO KICK by a weakened Kenny King, who then rolls out of the ring to avoid any disciplinary action.

La Bestia isolates Yehi in the corner and hits a series of knife edge chops, growling at his young opponent before grabbing him by the hair and throwing Yehi face-first into the mat. Bestia steps on the wrist of Yehi before stomping on the fingers, slowing the pace of the match down. Sinclair warns La Bestia, who shoves him aside, only to have Yehi use his legs to push La Bestia away. La Bestia stumbles as Yehi runs but falls straight into a powerslam by the veteran - La Bestia now has the cover! 1… 2… NO! Yehi manages to get the shoulder up and stays alive in the match. La Bestia calls for the tag but rather than offer up his hand, King extends his leg out, and Bestia makes the tag on King's leg. King goes to enter the match but Sinclair cuts him off, reminding King that a tag to the leg is not legal. King throws a tantrum, accusing Sinclair of being biased. This all proves to be a smokescreen, as La Bestia performs a snapmare onto Yehi before looking over his shoulder to ensure Todd Sinclair is still distracted. With the referee's back to him, Bestia makes his way over and removes one of the top turnbuckle pads. Yuta tries to regain Sinclair's attention as La Bestia turns back to Yehi and is rolled up with an inside cradle - 1… 2… close but no cigar! La Bestia rolls through into his own pin attempt - 1… 2… but once again, could not reach a three count! Before we can even regain our breath, Yehi manages to roll into a KOJI CLUTCH IN THE MIDDLE OF THE RING!

King immediately manages to enter the ring to break things up, causing Wheeler Yuta to leap into the match with a springboard armdrag onto King, throwing him to the other side of the ring and causing him to roll all the way to the floor. Yehi gets the hammerlock onto La Bestia, who reverses it and runs Yehi head-first into Yuta for a meeting of the minds. The cracking of skulls ring throughout the arena as La Bestia then whips Yehi into the corner to meet the exposed turnbuckle… but Yehi grabs the ropes and places his foot on the second turnbuckle to stop himself from a fatal collision. La Bestia tries for the splash but Yehi moves out of the way, as Bestia falls victim to his own trap! La Bestia is trapped in the corner as 'Bonafide' Fred Yehi plans his next move.

King, fearing for his partner makes his way around the ring but Wheeler Yuta stumbles back to his feet, telegraphing King's intentions and taking him out with a tope suicida. Both men are down as Yehi connects with a bicycle kick and rolls through into the inside cradle. 1… 2… 3!! This time, it's over!

Bobby Cruise makes the announcement as Yehi takes in the moment, having defeated the former ROH World Tag Team Champions (well, kinda!). Yuta makes his way back into the ring to celebrate with his partner while King quickly rushes the ring, baying for blood and accusing Sinclair of missing Yehi exposing the turnbuckle and cheating his way to victory. Yehi and Yuta make their way up the ramp, with Ian Riccaboni commenting on how this has been a win of sorts for The Foundation. This would certainly appear to be the case as King looks to help up La Bestia, who pushes him away and scorns him for not breaking the count. An argument soon ensues between King and Bestia as they pass the blame back and forth. Meanwhile, Yuta raises Yehi's hand once more and LFI are forced to face the reality of the situation.

OFFICIAL RESULT: Fred Yehi and Wheeler YUTA defeat Bestia del Ring and Kenny King by pinfall (16:08)

Ian and Caprice thank us for our time as the show comes to an end, with the signature ROH graphics flashing on the screen to end the night!

ROH WEEK BY WEEK
MARCH 30, 2021

This week on ROH’s YouTube program Week by Week, we got some glimpses into the fallout from this past week’s Ring of Honor Wrestling and looked forward to next week’s show and beyond!

The program opens up with a montage of the matches that took place on Ring of Honor Wrestling: Eli Isom overcoming a hyper-aggressive Silas Young, with some help from Josh “The Goods” Woods, granting him the most significant win of his young Ring of Honor Career. Plus, two other upstarts in Fred Yehi and Wheeler Yuta capturing a win against Kenny King and La Bestia del Ring to stake their claim in the Ring of Honor tag team division.

We then cut to backstage reactions from all the competitors.

First, Eli Isom is shown behind the curtain just moments after his match, seated on a chair and holding an ice pack to his knee. Isom gives an emotional reaction to his victory over Silas Young, saying that he believed from the day he came to Ring of Honor that it was his destiny to become one of the flag bearers for the company, and defeating a ROH institution like Silas Young is the first step on the path for him. Josh Woods then shows up, all smiles. The two men shake hands, as Isom thanks Woods for his intervention. Woods plays it humble, and tells Isom to enjoy the win, because he earned it.

Conversely, Silas Young doesn't have much to say about the match. The cameras catch up with Silas in the locker room where he is sitting with a towel hanging over his head. Silas pulls the towel off, looks at the camera with a venomous stare, and demands they get the hell out of his locker room. The film crew are wise enough to take that order to heart, as they quickly back out.

La Facción Ingobernable are shown next, huddled together backstage. King and Bestia both hang their heads a little, as RUSH paces around stroking his beard, clearly near his wit’s end. RUSH erupts, asking his allies how they could manage to drop 2 matches in a row to a bunch of weaklings. King and Bestia are each quick to point the finger at one another, but RUSH indicates that his question was rhetorical. RUSH blames them for allowing Violence Unlimited to tarnish his moment at the 19th Anniversary Show, and ostracizes them for not crushing The Foundation when they had the chance. He roars that King and Bestia need to put their beef to bed and learn to work as a unit, or else there will be consequences!

And at last we find Yuta and Yehi coming through the curtain after their match, where they find the members of The Foundation waiting on them with a round of applause. All of the 6 gentlemen embrace as Lethal, Gresham, Titus and Williams congratulate Yehi and Yuta on the huge win. We then got a few words from Yehi and Yuta themselves. Yehi walks by the camera, looks into it, and very confidently proclaims that “The Savageweight” has arrived, and he isn’t going anywhere! Yuta adds that he and Yehi are hungry for more. Lastly, Pure Champion Jonathan Gresham takes the lead to endorse Yehi and Yuta as shining examples of what ROH has always been, and always will be, about… and that’s fierce competitors who want to display their skills on the most sacred stage in pro wrestling!

The vignettes all wrap up, which brings us to Quinn McKay poised to speak to the fans at the ROH Week by Week control center. She welcomes fans into the show and quickly cuts to the chase, commenting that times have never been more exciting in Ring of Honor between the heated rivalries, the return of the women’s division, the return of live crowds and the other exciting future prospects that come along with the new management in Ring of Honor.

Quinn adds that, speaking of the return of the women's division on the upcoming episode of ROH Wrestling, we are in for a big announcement from Maria Kanellis-Bennett, where she will provide a massive update on the revival of the ROH Women's Division. She mentions that the wheels are already in motion for the division's revival and fans won't want to miss what Maria has to say next week!

She then changes gears, and begins to discuss the matches that are coming up on next week’s ROH Wrestling. She runs down the matches, with accompanying highlight clips for the wrestlers in question.

Brian Johnson vs. Danhausen is hyped up as a grudge match between two men who had to battle just to secure Ring of Honor contracts over the Winter. The loud-mouthed Johnson has been very vocal about where he sees himself in the ROH pecking order, already having proclaimed himself a future World Champion. The inscrutable Danhausen's motives are described as a little harder to decipher, though he has often stated a proclivity towards making "many many monies". Both men have a pinfall victory over the other, therefore the upcoming battle will be a veritable rubber match to determine a true victor.

We then shift focus to "Dirty" Chris Dickinson vs. Joe Keys. This matchup will be intriguing as it pits an outsider in Dickson, who is notorious for his cutthroat style, against an ROH Dojo grad in Joe Keys. A blustery bruiser with no regard for honor, taking on a man molded in the image of all that Ring of Honor represents. This match is billed as, effectively, Violence Unlimited's coming out party. Will they plant their flag with gusto on ROH Wrestling or will they blow up on the launch pad?

And lastly, Bandido and Rey Horus vs. The Bouncers is previewed. This match will stand to test the bond between Bandido and Horus, after the MexiSquad stable melted down at The 19th Anniversary show due to failing to win the World Six-Man Tag Championship. In-fighting resulted in a triple threat between Bandido, Flamita and Rey Horus that was meant to settle their differences, but seemingly only exacerbated the problem. Now, it appears Flamita has turned his back on his brethren, and how Bandido and Rey Horus will move forward without him remains to be seen… Meanwhile, The Bouncers are in the midst of a transformation, spurred on by the bellicose Ken Dixon who wants to see Beer City Bruiser and Brian Milonas cut out the fun and games and embrace their inner brutes. Bruiser seems fully committed to the cause, but thus far Milonas has been somewhat hesitant to kick the good times to the curb. Next week on ROH Wrestling we'll find out if the two men have the concentration that it will take to keep up with the blinding offense of Bandido and Rey Horus.

Moving on from the preview portion of the program, Quinn says she has a special surprise for ROH fans today, and that is a special in-studio interview with Dak Draper! She says that this interview wasn't originally on the itinerary, but Draper requested the opportunity to speak earlier today, so we'll be hearing from him… right now!

The camera pans out, as Quinn slides to the left a bit. "The Mile High Magnum" Dak Draper enters the scene and takes a seat to the right. He thanks Quinn for allowing him the opportunity to come and say a few words. Dak gets right down to it, and says that he wanted to come on Week by Week following his matchup with Jonathan Gresham at the 19th Anniversary Show to publicly thank Gresham for the match. He expresses that he was honored to have a shot at the Pure Title in order to display his technical ability and show everyone in ROH that he isn't just another pretty face. He says that he gave Gresham all that he had but on this particular night, "The Octopus" had his number. He's man enough to acknowledge that Gresham was the better man on that night, he thanks Gresham for bringing his own A-Game, and he proclaims that together they created a classic battle in ROH history that Draper believes raised his stock significantly despite the loss. Quinn nods along in agreement.

But suddenly, there's a cackle coming from off screen. Both Quinn and Dak look to their left, as the camera pans out further. Entering the scene is none other than former ROH World Champion Dalton Castle, dressed flamboyantly in a silk shirt with rose tinted shades. Draper stands up, a bit trepidatiously. Quinn inquires about what Castle is doing here. Castle walks in clapping and laughing with a disturbing cadence. He then simply extends a hand to Draper, offering a handshake. Draper looks Castle up and down, not too sure what to make of this gesture, but eventually he eases up and goes to shake Castle's hand.

But just then, Castle uses the hand he was offering Draper for a handshake, to slap Draper right across the face! Quinn hops out of her seat and covers her mouth, as she more or less flees the scene. Draper raises his hand to feel the stinging on his cheek, while Castle stands with a big oblivious grin. Draper, now fuming, asks Castle what that was all about. Castle responds in his usual ostentatious manner that SOMEONE needed to slap some sense into Draper, and he figured "who better than me?". Castle continues, saying that he's been keeping tabs on Draper since he arrived on the scene in ROH. After all, it isn't every day that a man that radiates just as much sex appeal as Castle steps through the door. He says that Draper is a one in a million talent. A 5 tool player. "The Peacock" says he wants to take Draper under his wing, pun intended, and mold him into the once in a lifetime performer that he knows he can be. Castle even offers up a bit of game, free of charge, telling Draper that the first thing he needs to do is stop taking losses with such nobility and start taking them personally! Castle says he can show Draper so much more about pro wrestling than he ever knew existed, and finally poses the question… will Draper join him in wrestling unity?

Castle extends his hand once more, smiling like a hyena. Draper wiggles his jaw a little bit with his hand, selling the effects of the slap. He looks at Castle's hand once again. And then, he decks Castle with a big open hand slap across the face that nearly takes Castle off his feet! Castle staggers, and then regains his balance. He looks at Draper right in the eyes, with his long hair now bungled and his shades sitting crookedly on his face due to the slap. After a tense moment, Draper reaches out, grabs Castle's hand and shakes it, saying he's in! The two men shake hands, and Draper brushes past Castle, leaving the scene. Castle is left standing there, hand on his face, looking shocked and like he was just in a car wreck.

Quinn apprehensively eases her way back into the frame and leans down to the microphone to send it to our Week by Week exclusive match-up: Ken Dixon vs. Rayo!

KEN DIXON vs. RAYO

Locking up this week are two products of the ROH Dojo who have spent the better part of their careers thus far mastering their crafts in ROH partner promotion Maryland Championship Wrestling. Ken Dixon has been making some headway in ROH proper recently, since aligning with The Bouncers and acting as their mouthpiece and motivator, striving to make The Bouncers a more ruthless outfit.

The match gets going fast. Dixon comes out with a litany of strikes to Rayo, until Rayo nails an uppercut and comes back with a flurry of his own. Following a series of slams from each man, Dixon is able to take the advantage when he blocks an armdrag from Rayo and turns him inside out with a lariat. Dixon shoots the half, but only comes away with a 2-count.

Dixon takes Rayo into the corner and begins to rain down mounted shots from above. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and… he stops. Instead of landing the 10th punch, he shoves Rayo’s face disrespectfully. This awakens “The Incan Warrior” who then slips out from under Dixon and kicks the back of Dixon’s leg, causing him to fall into a seated position on the middle ropes. Rayo then leaps into the air, grabbing Dixon’s shoulders and pulling him back into a big backstabber off the middle ropes! Rayo attempts a pin for himself, but can only get the 2-count as well.

Rayo scoops Dixon up and backs him into the corner this time. After landing a number of kicks to the midsection, he slings Dixon out with a hip toss. Rayo crouches in the corner and eyes Dixon, as he tries to get back to his feet. As soon as Dixon gets to his feet, Rayo comes running in for a swinging neckbreaker but Dixon counters through it, hooking Rayo’s arm and pulling him into a backslide pin. A 1 and a 2, but no 3 for Dixon. Rayo is able to roll backwards and get to his feet. Dixon quickly stands as well and throws a punch, but Rayo side-steps it and snatches Dixon into a full nelson. Rayo throws Dixon back on his noggin with a dragon suplex that leaves Dixon on dream street. Rayo stands and measures Dixon, who slowly makes it back to his knees. Rayo then throws a nasty looking buzzsaw kick, but Dixon is just able to dodge out of the way, catch the leg, and quickly apply a grapevine ankle lock onto Rayo!

After several excruciating moments in the hold, Rayo is able to just get two fingers on the bottom rope to get himself free. Dixon milks the 5-count, before releasing Rayo. However, he is not going to give Rayo any chance to recover. He takes to stomping Rayo’s ankle, before pulling Rayo up and punishing him with some forearm strikes. This seems to charge Rayo up further though, as he continually asks Dixon to keep striking him, despite the fact that he's on spaghetti legs. Dixon is a bit surprised but obliges with several more strikes, until at last, Rayo ducks under one and dashes off the ropes. He comes back hot, but Dixon jukes out of the way and sends Rayo through the ropes. Rayo is able to catch himself and remain on the apron. When Dixon turns back around, Rayo propels himself in, looking for a spear, but Dixon again is able to dodge it. Rayo whiffs on the spear but rolls quickly up to his feet. Dixon has the drop on him through and lands a low dropkick, targeting Rayo’s ankle area. This takes Rayo down to one knee. From there, Dixon pulls Rayo up onto his shoulders before delivering a fireman’s carry flapjack! It seems like Dixon has it all in the bag as he rolls Rayo over and looks as if he’s about to pin him. But then, he has a second thought. He opts to pull Rayo back up, heaving his limp body up across his shoulders once more and hitting him with yet another fireman’s carry flapjack! Now, he decides he’s done sufficient damage and makes the pin. 1, 2, 3!

After winning the match, Dixon soaks in the victory for a while before heading out of the ring. The Bouncers emerge from the back to greet him on the ramp. Dixon points back towards the ring, asking The Bouncers if they just watched what happened. Dixon says that’s what happens when you show no remorse and make sure the job is finished! He turns back towards the ring to raise his arms high one more time as Week by Week goes off air.

OFFICIAL RESULT: Ken Dixon defeats Rayo by pinfall (8:32)

TRILLER EXEC BOBBY SARNEVEHST GIVES INSIGHT INTO PURCHASE OF ROH

Executive Chair of Triller, LLC Bobby Sarnevesht made an appearance on The Jordan Harbinger Show podcast this week, in an interview discussing his business career and the major recent moves that Triller has made, including the acquisition of Ring of Honor, FITE TV, Verzuz and Amplify.at, as well as well as the recent success of Triller Fight Club with the blockbuster Mike Tyson vs. Roy Jones Jr. fight which beat out all UFC PPVs to claim the title of most-bought combat sports PPV of 2020.
We have compiled all the relevant quotes regarding the Ring of Honor acquisition from the podcast, which was released this Wednesday on all streaming platforms.

In regards to how the purchase of Ring of Honor came about:

"2020 was a year of unprecedented growth for Triller, and we're proud of the strides we took. We decided to capitalize on the momentum this year with a series of acquisitions that would bolster our corporate profile. We were out there making phone calls on a daily basis, seeing what opportunities were available. We caught wind that Sinclair Broadcasting Group was interested in possibly selling Ring of Honor, due to the wrestling company no longer fitting into their long-term vision for their corporation.

Well, we were coming off the heels of a hugely successful and profitable combat sports event, and had just recently closed a deal to acquire the FITE TV app. Ring of Honor is broadcast on FITE, and its own content library known as HonorClub is even integrated into the app. So, we had good insight into what the consumer base for ROH looked like. Furthermore we were aware that Ring of Honor had a loyal fanbase, and a long history of putting on some of the most buzzworthy matches and events in pro wrestling for the past 20 years. The name is ingrained in the wrestling zeitgeist so we have a strong foundation there from which to grow. We talked to SBG and within a week we were able to come to a deal to acquire the company."

On what level of involvement Triller will have in managing ROH:

"One thing we love about Ring of Honor is that they know what they are. They've been doing pro wrestling at the highest level for decades now, and have a wonderful staff of individuals who know the business inside and out. For us, our biggest goal with Ring of Honor is expanding things on the business end. We want to increase ROH's visibility, bringing in new fans and bringing back some old ones. We have a few ideas in mind as far as how we can achieve that. But when it comes to the stories and the action you see in that ring, we are entrusting the pro wrestling minds to piece that together. Our mission will, in short, be to increase ROH's footprint in media and in culture, to get more and more eyes on this programming that we really feel is the best pro wrestling on the planet."

Whether or not to expect any immediate changes to how ROH operates:

"It won't be anything jarring. We are going to be proactive in creating buzz for Ring of Honor, while also staying true to the world class wrestling and storytelling that has brought it so much success over the years.

Item number 1 on the agenda for us is getting Ring of Honor back on the road and in front of its adoring fans. We are eyeing May as a jumping off point with The Return, which will emanate from The Bomb Factory in Dallas. We are in the process of getting some great venues lined up for the rest of the year where we will host some huge Pay-Per-Views and film TV from. With more and more live entertainment coming back, we can't allow ourselves to be left on the outside looking in, so we are going to do everything it takes to get Ring of Honor back in arenas, in front of some great crowds, and of course do it all in the safest way possible.

Any changes you may see to the on-screen product will be incremental and largely revolve around the presentation. We want to bring the art, broadcasting and creative direction of the company up to a standard that is just as good, maybe better, than the current industry leaders. We have the resources to make Ring of Honor, visually, just as cutting edge as anything else out there. Plus, the relationships we have with major record labels through the Triller app, we believe, will allow us to provide a more big-time soundtrack to Ring of Honor wrestling, which we have learned can be paramount to reaching wider audiences in today's society. [...] One thing Triller has been able to do that has led to our exponential growth is to tap into the modern zeitgeist, and we’re going to implement several of our learned techniques into how we market and operate Ring of Honor."

In regards to the future of ROH's broadcasting:

"Big plans are already being made there. Right now, ROH has one weekly television show, known as Ring of Honor Wrestling, and it is broadcast on Sinclair affiliate stations across the U.S., in addition to streaming on FITE. Well, that run is going to come to an end in May, right before our big comeback Pay-Per-View called The Return. That will be a pivotal night where a lot of our big plans will go into effect. Following that, we are cooking something up that will really help create a sense of can't-miss TV for ROH going forward, and that all begins with a special live TV event from Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC. More details will be released soon, as there is still some ironing out to do, but we firmly believe that fans will be excited to see what's next from ROH."

On whether or not Ring of Honor will engage with "The Forbidden Door":

"On our end, we are open to anything that helps us expand our company and increase our profile. What these other companies are doing right now is revolutionary and extremely exciting for pro wrestling fans and we fully appreciate the rare opportunity that that presents. At the same time we are very high on our talent that we have here, and want to invest all that we can in creating wrestling stars that transcend the traditional boundaries of pro wrestling. It all boils down to making moves that make sense for our goals and don't compromise any of our plans at the end of the day. It's a delicate balance and we'll approach every opportunity that crosses our paths on a case-by-case basis. So… we'll just have to see, won't we?"

Tickets for The Return in Dallas, TX will be on sale this weekend, with tickets for the Hammerstein Ballroom TV tapings set to go on sale shortly after. It is perhaps worth noting that the shows at the Hammerstein Ballroom are currently being billed as "An ROH television special event", so whether that is simply due to the fact that it will be live television or if there is something more at play here is yet to be determined.

ROH WRESTLING #498
APRIL 5, 2021
UMBC EVENT CENTER • BALTIMORE, MARYLAND

As ROH comes on to air, we open with a black screen, with the caption “Earlier This Week” appearing on-screen before fading out. Another caption reading “Boston, Massachusetts" comes and then goes.

The scene opens up as a car pulls up outside of a traditional suburban property. We see a hand tap on the front door of a quaint little New England home, however it doesn't appear that anyone is in. We then cut to a shot from behind of a figure wearing a hoodie trying to look through a screen door to see if there's any signs of life. Once more, a shot of a hand knocking on the door before it cuts to none other than “The Miracle” Mike Bennett holding his camera phone up to film himself as he speaks in a hushed tone.

Mike Bennett: I have no idea how this is going to go but I've been trying to get a hold of Matt for days now. Apparently management has tried to reach out to him, he's missing appointments, he's missing meetings… this just isn't like him…

We jump cut again to Bennett knocking rather loudly on the front door of who we can only assume to be his long-time friend and tag team partner Matt Taven. He yells out, asking if anyone is in. Once again, we cut back to Bennett, who seems to be vlogging, but for whose benefit - we do not know.

Mike Bennett: I've been here for half an hour now, I'm surprised no one has tried to call the cops on me. I don't know man, I've never seen him like this before. I know that it's been a couple of crazy years with him and Vincent but this just isn't like him. Matt isn't a quitter. He's been to hell and back, but he's never backed down.

Some clunky editing then shows Mike looking through the screen door again, seemingly talking to someone on the other side.

Mike Bennett: What are you doing man? I've been trying to call you all week! Have you not looked at your phone?

We can't quite see Taven through the screen or hear him, but we can interpret what he's saying from Bennett's response.

Mike Bennett: You can't carry on like this Matt, this isn't like you....can you come outside at least or let me in?

"The Miracle" shakes his head, in frustration.

Mike Bennett: Listen Matt, I love you like a brother but all this [censored] that Vinny's pulling, it's smoke and mirrors! He wants to get in your head and psyche you out and it looks like you've taken the bait. I'm not going to wait around here all day, so if you're not going to let me in, then just remember why I came back to Ring of Honor - because YOU asked me.

Silence.

Mike Bennett: Okay, well you sit around feeling sorry for yourself but he was right about one thing - I know you're not happy with the way it ended at the 19th Anniversary Show. So when you wake up and you recognize the man looking back at you, you call me okay? Maria says The Board have reinstated a temporary injunction so that should keep them away for now, but hiding away like this isn't going to send them away, Matt. Remember that.

Again. Silence.

Bennett looks annoyed at Taven's lack of motivation to engage in the situation and end the war with the Righteous once and for all. He turns away and sighs heavily before making his way back to the car. Past his shoulder we can see Taven faintly through the screen door, clearly pausing for thought.

CHRIS DICKINSON vs. JOE KEYS

We flash from the pre-recorded video of Bennett and Taven to the interior of the UMBC Event Center where Caprice Coleman and Ian Riccaboni welcome the fans to the show! They take a moment to acknowledge the situation with the despondent Taven, and Caprice postulates that the only way Taven or Vincent is ever going to find peace is if the other is taken out of commission. But enough about that, they send it to Bobby Cruise for the introductions of the opening contest.

Joe Keys enters first. The graduate of the inaugural class of the ROH Dojo looks confident heading into the bout, and physically he appears at the top of the game. “The Dirty Daddy” Chris Dickinson makes his entrance next, and it’s our first proper look at Violence Unlimited. He comes down to the song “Violence Unlimited” performed by Brody King’s band God’s Hate. The rest of the faction trails behind as the bruiser from Staten Island comes rumbling down to the ring.

The bell rings and Keys immediately fires across the ring and socks Dickinson in the jaw with a running forearm smash. This knocks Dickinson back into the turnbuckle, but manages to stay on his feet. After the initial shock wears off, he smiles wildly and stands back up, inviting Keys to give him another. Keys obliges, and takes advantage with a series of big forearm strikes, before Dickinson suddenly grabs Keys and slams him to the mat with an amateur style wrestling slam. Dickinson gets back up and poses, before inviting Keys to get back to his feet as well. Keys jumps up and the two men exchange some words, Keys looking aggravated while Dickinson’s expression is a little more on the unhinged side. Keys hits the ropes and comes back with a shoulder block into Dickinson, who stands his ground and takes the shoulder block without budging. Keys shakes his head and hits the ropes again, coming back with another shoulder block. Again, this does not knock Dickinson off his feet. Keys gives it one more try, but he can’t get “The Dirty Daddy” to budge. After the third shoulder block isn’t successful at taking Dickinson down, Dickinson peppers Keys with a thunderous slap to the face that sends a mist of sweat flying through the air. This slap alone staggers Keys who falls to one knee before recovering. Dickinson runs off the ropes and comes back to clock Keys in the middle of the ring with a gnarly big boot that sends him straight to the mat. Dickinson places one foot on Keys’ chest for an overly confident pin, but Keys predictably kicks out at 2.

Dickinson hoists Keys up, and immediately tosses him over his shoulder into a powerslam position. He runs and smashes Keys into the corner Oklahoma Stampede style, and turns to deliver a running powerslam in the center of the ring. However, Keys is able to slip out of the back and land on his feet. Keys blasts Dickinson with a forearm to the back to the head, which seems to be his most effective shot of the match. He then quickly locks the burly brawler up in a full nelson. Keys cranks the hold, but Dickinson is just too powerful and manages to break the grip of Keys before throwing a back elbow that catches Keys in the jaw. Keys responds with yet another forearm blow to the back of the head, and again applies the full nelson. This time, he explodes through the hips and drops Dickinson on the back of his head and neck with a major snap dragon suplex!

Keys hops up to his feet, while Dickinson rolls to his knees. Dickinson looks up at Keys and laughs psychotically in the face of Keys. The other members of Violence Unlimited on the floor also chuckle, as Keys looks around distraught. He pulls Dickinson into a front facelock, but Dickinson just overpowers Keys, picking him up and charging him into the corner. Dickinson makes a lap around the ring and comes back to crush Keys with a big avalanche splash! He wastes no time wrangling Keys up and delivering a monstrous leg capture suplex that launches Keys right into the corner for an ugly collision. Dickinson grabs Keys by the wrists and pulls him out to the middle of the ring. He drops down and pins Keys' shoulders to the mat for the 1… 2… wait - Dickinson pulls Keys’ shoulder up to stop the pin.

“The Dirty Daddy” grins and nods his head, ready to deliver some more pain. He peels Keys up off the mat and throws him face down over the second rope. He steps on Keys’ back to press Keys’ wind pipe down across the middle rope. Dickinson locates the camera on the floor and stares down the lens with his tongue out as his stable-mates cheer on his savagery. The referee gets to 4 and then forcibly pulls Dickinson off of Keys. Dickinson feigns innocence before going back in for the attack, just delivering a savage thrust kick to the back of Keys’ head while he’s still draped over the rope. Dickinson then motions that the match is about to be over, before grabbing Keys and snapping off a painful looking high angle back suplex. With little more hesitation, he rolls Keys face down and cinches in a camel clutch! Keys fights with all he has, but the strength of Dickinson is impossible for him to overcome, as Dickinson wrenches back with his full might. Ultimately, Keys frantically taps out, desperate for any reprieve from Dickinson’s brutality.

OFFICIAL RESULT: Chris Dickinson defeats Joe Keys by submission (6:46)

It’s a win in the bag for Violence Unlimited and Chris Dickinson who has just sent a resounding and frightening message to the rest of Ring of Honor. Brody King, Tony Deppen and Homicide enter the ring to raise the hand of their comrade, as they stand triumphantly. In the corner, referee Todd Sinclair is checking up on the banged up Joe Keys when Brody King catches sight of it. Suddenly, he communicates something with the rest of his partners, and they make their way over to Keys. Deppen shoves Sinclair out of the way and all four men start to trample Keys with boots. Keys is defenseless, as King orders his men to lift him up out of the corner. Deppen and Homicide hold Keys up by his arms as King hits the rope and comes back with a lariat that nearly decapitates Keys! The product of The Dojo is left in a heap, and it looks like Violence Unlimited aren’t quite done with their beatdown just yet until suddenly The Foundation comes swarming out from the back. Violence Unlimited spots Gresham, Lethal, Titus and Williams coming down the ramp and decide to split. They slither out of the ring and take off over the guard rails as The Foundation secure the ring and allow Sinclair to tend to Keys. The scene comes to an end with consecutive shots of King and Lethal exchanging some words from a distance, as Violence Unlimited retreat to the shadows of the arena...

Backstage now, we come upon “The Most Wanted” Bandido and Rey Horus standing by ahead of their tag team contest in the main event. Notably absent is Flamita, who has recently developed a major chip on his shoulder and even challenged Bandio and Horus to a triple threat at the 19th Anniversary, where he would ultimately be pinned by Bandido. Since walking out of that match and refusing to shake the hands of Bandido and Horus, their alliance seems to be on the rocks. Horus starts things out.

Rey Horus: You know, all great teams have faced their own struggles. And just like those great teams of the past, we will grow from our adversities, and rise above again and again. Some people are saying that the MexiSquad imploded at the 19th Anniversary. That is not the case.

Bandido cuts in.

Bandido: Si, MexiSquad did not implode. Flamita imploded!

Horus seems somewhat caught off guard by this comment.

Bandido: MexiSquad could not succeed with Flamita because he put himself before the group. He believed his goals were more important than the collective success of MexiSquad. Well, we put up with that long enough! Horus and I deserve better and after Flamita’s action at the 19th Anniversary, he can consider this partnership DEAD! MUERTE!

Bandido puts his arm around the shoulder of Horus and pulls him in.

Bandido: The future is bright for Bandido and Rey Horus though. Tonight, we’ve got to take care of The Bouncers. Though they are large in size, they do not possess the same corazon in here.

He taps on his chest, over his heart.

Bandido: The Mexican lucha libre spirit resides in us, and with our nation on our back, Bandio and Rey Horus will show the world that the future of honor… is Latino!

Bandido enthusiastically pats Horus on the chest and takes off. Horus has a somewhat averse expression on his face, but follows behind his partner as we fade from the scene.

From one backstage promo to another, we flash elsewhere in the bowels of the arena where Violence Unlimited is crowded together, looking generally menacing. Brody King is pacing back and forth in the foreground. He stops, and stares right into the camera.

Brody King: Haha! Tonight, Ring of Honor got just a little taste of the destruction that Violence Unlimited will soon unleash on the entire company! The way Chris Dickinson steamrolled Joe Keys… if these are the kind of men who were meant to be carrying Ring of Honor into the future, then maybe we’re doing this company a favor by tearing it all to the ground!

Violence Unlimited laughs sadistically in unison.

Brody King: Let’s address the elephant in the room though, shall we? The Foundation! Obviously we are diametrically opposed in our visions for this company. You want everyone to play nice… you want good, clean fun, huh? So-called “pure wrestling” reigning supreme? Wake the hell up! Look around you! The world isn’t fair! It isn’t a playground, boys, it’s a damned war zone out there! It’s time for you all to realize that the world doesn’t abide by your little arbitrary code of ethics and the era of wrestling “for sport” is a thing of the past.

King shakes his head.

Brody King: From now on, whoever steps in the ring with one of us, better be ready to FIGHT for their [bleep]ing lives! It’s time for Ring of Honor to evolve to a new era of brutality and we don’t care if we have to drag this company into the future kicking and screaming… ultimately, violence WILL reign supreme! Now you probably want to get a shot at us, Foundation, and that’s perfectly understandable. But, WE will be the ones to decide when and where the brutality takes place because WE are the harbingers of violence and no one does violence like VIOLENCE UNLIMITED!

The band of bruisers roll out, as the scene dissolves to the ring.

DANHAUSEN vs. BRIAN JOHNSON

Following the usual spookily bizarre entrance of Danhausen and the usual self-confident entrance of Brian Johnson, we get straight down to business when the bell rings.

Johnson goes for a lock up early, but Danhausen counters with a go-behind and shoves the back of Johnson’s head before posing triumphantly. Johnson takes not-so-kindly to this, and turns around and charges Danhausen for a clothesline, but Danhausen pulls “The Mecca” down with a fujiwara armbar. Danhausen relinquishes the hold and then steps on Johnson’s back, before doing a bow. Johnson scurries back up, points at Danhausen and tells him he’s had enough. Johnson shoots in for a single leg takedown, but Danhusen is able to counter with an enziguri. Johnson tumbles down and rolls from the ring, holding the back of his head. Danhausen heads to the apron and does his tequila dance before nailing Johnson with a stiff kick to the chin. Johnson staggers around and comes back, where Danhausen splats him again with another kick. Furious, Johnson climbs to the apron and comes face to face with Danhausen. Danhhausen looks around, as Johnson stares angrily at him. Finally, Danhausen just shrugs and gives Johnson a poke to the eye! Danhausen then pull Johnson up on his shoulders in a fireman’s carry, but Johnson slides off, and lands inside the ring. He grabs Danhausen around his neck and pulls him back, leaning him against the top rope. He delivers clubbing blow after clubbing blow to Danhausen’s chest, as the chest of the “Very Nice, Very Evil” superstar begins to turn a crimson red. Referee Joe Mandak is able to pull Johnson away at last, but Johnson quickly charges back in to deliver a hip attack to Danhausen’s back, which sends Danhausen careening into the barricade.

Johnson drops to the outside where he continues the assault on Danhausen, dropping him chest first on the barricade and leaning him against the apron to unload some knife edge chops. Back in the ring, Johnson takes a more grounded approach, tangling Danhausen up in a number of holds. Each time Danhausen is able to counter out of one, Johnson pulls him into something else. This continues for a moment until Johnson transitions out of a wrist lock into a crucifix pin on Danhausen. Danhausen escapes the pin at two, by rolling backwards out of it and back up to his feet. Danhausen then stumbles back into the corner and, as Johnson comes rushing in, Danhausen cracks him with a pump kick square in the jaw. Danhausen hops to the middle rope where he grabs Johnson into a front facelock and goes for a tornado DDT. Johnson counters, shoving Danhausen off of him mid-rotation. He then catches the evil one with a running knee strike that elicits a big “ooh” from the commentators. Johnson goes for the pin once more, but is once again only able to get the two-count!

As the match wages on into deeper waters and both men begin to look visibly bushed, an exchange of elbows takes place, as each man stands in the middle of the ring and swings on each other. After both men begin to wobble from the strikes, Johnson runs off the ropes but Danhausen catches him with a hip toss. Johnson rushes back to his feet, but Danhausen snatches him over with a deep arm drag. As both men rush back up, Johnson is quicker on the draw and takes Danhausen over with an arm drag of his own. Once more, both competitors get up simultaneously. Johnson takes a big swing, but Danhausen ducks, grabbing Johnson quickly around the waist and going for a German suplex. However, Johnson is able to backflip and land on his feet out of the suplex. As Danhausen stands back up, Johnson nails him with an uppercut that causes Danhausen to tumble between the ropes and to the apron. Not wasting time, Johnson grabs Danhausen from the apron and pulls him between the ropes, leaving his feet draped on the middle rope and spiking him into the mat with a rope hung DDT! Johnson attempts another pinfall, but Danhausen is too tenacious to go out just yet, as he gets a shoulder up before the three!

Johnson smacks the ring furiously and gets in the referee’s face demanding the win. This buys Danhausen a bit of time to recover and when Johnson goes to pull Danhausen up, Danhausen lifts Johnson and sheer drops him on the top rope with a stun gun! The maneuver has Johnson disoriented as Danhausen fires up. He hits the ropes and comes back to blast Johnson with a basement dropkick right in the mush. He measures up Johnson, who works his way up to his feet. Danhausen pulls Johnson up in a fireman’s carry and goes for the always-lethal GTS, but Johnson is able to counter it at the very last second by catching Danhausen’s knee. He spins Danhausen around in a full 360 and then puts a boot into Danhausen’s gut. Johnson grabs Danhausen in a hangman’s position and then spins him out into a facebuster - TRUST THE PROCESS! Johnson hooks the leg, and the referee drops to the canvas to count the 1, 2, 3! The bell rings and Johnson immediately throws a fist in the air in celebration.

OFFICIAL RESULT: Brian Johnson defeats Danhausen by pinfall (8:29)

Brian Johnson immediately demands a microphone after making it back to his feet. He begins speaking through deep breaths.

Brian Johnson: First thing’s first, get this chump out The Mecca’s ring!

Johnson walks over to where Mandak is checking on Danhausen and rolls Danhausen out of the ring using his foot. He takes back the center of the ring.

Brian Johnson: Now, I hope I have everyone’s attention! Two weeks ago at the 19th Anniversary Show I defeated Eli Isom, Leon St. Giovanni and that GOOF Danhausen to stake my claim for the ROH Television Championship. After tonight, I don’t want to hear any more chatter about ‘oh, is Brian Johnson the real deal?’... The proof is in the pudding, and my time is now! I don’t want any more excuses, and I don’t want any more holdups. Tonight, I’m throwing down the gauntlet!

Johnson gets close-up with a floor cam.

Brian Johnson: TRACY WILLIAMS! You owe me a title shot, you understand!?

Johnson taps his wrist, imitating a wristwatch.

Brian Johnson: The clock is ticking on your title reign, Hot Sauce! You name the time and place, and I’ll be there to beat you from pillar to post and take that belt! But don’t keep me waiting too long, Tracy. ‘Cause I’ll find you. And it doesn’t matter to me if I have to take down Jay Lethal, Jon Gresham, Rhett Titus or anyone else, I WILL get what’s mine… ‘cause it’s MECCA… versus… EVERYBODY!

The incendiary Brian Johnson drops the microphone and poses with his arm spread, before heading out of the ring. Ian and Caprice remark that Johnson is in fact the number 1 contender for the TV Title, so we will indeed be seeing him take on Tracy Williams before too long!

From the ringside area, we flash immediately to the designated interview area backstage at the UMBC Event Center where Quinn McKay is standing by with Maria Kanellis-Bennett.

Quinn McKay: I'm Quinn McKay, here backstage with Board of Directors member Maria Kanellis-Bennett, who at the 19th Anniversary Show announced the relaunch of the women's division and a tournament to determine the first ever Ring of Honor Women's World Champion. Maria, the floor is yours…

Quinn excitedly tilts the microphone in Maria's direction, Maria acknowledges Quinn with a sincere smile.

Maria Kanellis-Bennett: Thank you Quinn. Well, I don't think anyone could have predicted the past year and as a result, our plans to bring the women's division back to the forefront of Ring of Honor were unfortunately put on hold. But, in true Ring of Honor style, that didn't deter us. No. Instead, the Board of Directors appointed me as the official consultant to the women's division, which in turn has allowed me to begin proceedings to create the best women's division on the planet. Times are changing here at Ring of Honor and I've been listening to the fans on social media and I am here to announce that starting from next Wednesday, our all-female programming will resume live and free on YouTube! For seven weeks, fans will be reacquainted with some familiar faces, as well as some brand new ones before the tournament itself kickstarts the week following The Return! Now, things are still not quite where they used to be, so I ask that you're all patient. Not everyone will earn the right to fight for the championship. However, we will crown the first ever Ring of Honor Women's World Champion at Death Before Dishonor and women's wrestling will be here to stay!

Quinn clenches up with excitement, a smile beams from her face.

Quinn McKay: Now I know that you're working with your team and you've already given us loads! But, any ideas on potential names? I mean, is there a sign-up sheet?

Maria Kanellis-Bennett: Now, Quinn, I know what you're doing here but all I can say is we're watching a lot of tapes, we want to make sure that we have the best women possible, starting with.....

Quinn leans forward in anticipation, until...

???: Just put her out of her misery already, Maria!

A commotion can be heard, cutting Maria off. Quinn rolls her eyes and sighs heavily as Angelina Love and Mandy Leon, The Allure, walk on-screen.

Angelina Love: You best be about to announce one of our names if you know what's good for business, Maria. I mean, what do we have to do to get some airtime around here?

Mandy Leon: And the last time I checked, Quinn isn't even a wrestler here, she's just the human mic-stand.

Mandy arches her eyebrow and folds her arms while the usually-excitable interviewer grows increasingly agitated.

Angelina Love: That’s exactly right! Remind us Quinn, how many matches have you won exactly?

Quinn shakes her head disapprovingly as she closes her eyes and whispers to herself.

Quinn McKay: Think relaxing thoughts. Think relaxing thoughts. THINK. RELAXING. THOUGHTS.

Maria taps on Angelina's shoulder and steps forward, creating physical difference between the two sides. Quinn meanwhile tries to take deep breaths to calm herself down.

Maria Kanellis-Bennett: Excuse me, I was kinda in the middle of something here. Oh and the last time I checked, Quinn has been training in the Ring of Honor Dojo under a developmental contract, which may I add, makes her eligible for contention...

Quinn stops, her hopes building again.

Maria Kanellis-Bennett: IF that's what we decide. Now I've seen what's been going on over the past year between you three. The snipes, the tweets. the attacks… and I just have to say… WOW!

Maria points her tone in the direction of The Allure, who look at each other, feeling pretty smug.

Angelina Love: You're welcome!

Maria Kanellis-Bennett: No, you see Angelina, I don't think you're quite getting the point. Everything I've witnessed is NOT what I want for this division. It goes against everything that this company stands for.

Angelina Love: And I guess you would know what this company stands for from all the times you stood at ringside, watching your husband do all the work huh?

Maria Kanellis-Bennett: That's cute Angelina, but again, I think you're forgetting what company you work for right now because you've certainly forgotten who you're speaking to right now. The Allure have had their fun but I suggest the two of you tread lightly if you want to enter the tournament.

Mandy and Angelina look at each other and roll their eyes.

Mandy Leon: Maria, you're clearly confused. You were just about to announce us as the first participants for the tournament.

Mandy patronizingly places her hand on Maria's shoulder to comfort her. Maria chuckles and removes The Exotic Goddess' hands.

Maria Kanellis-Bennett: Cute Mandy, real cute. Actually, I was going to announce the first entrant into the tournament but that can wait until next week. But, given how enthusiastic the two of you are about competing and, of course, how long it's been since the two of you have stepped inside the ring… I'm going to give you an opportunity. One of you...

Angelina immediately steps forward. Mandy makes an attempt to fight her case but is easily upstaged.

Angelina Love: ME! Me! Sorry Mandy, but I am the seven time Women's World Champion and well… I am the living legend.

Maria Kanellis-Bennett: Well then it's decided, the very first main event of Women's Division Wednesdays is set. I think we're all done here!

Maria goes to depart but Angelina taps her on the shoulder.

Maria Kanellis-Bennett: What's that, sorry?

Angelina Love: Umm hello? Forgetting something? My opponent maybe?

Maria Kanellis-Bennett: Oh right! Your opponent. How could I forget!? Although I thought it was obvious, your opponent is… right here!

Maria gestures to Quinn, who appeared to still be practicing her wellness exercises until she notices the camera has panned round towards her.

Quinn McKay: Wait. WHAT!?

Quinn can hardly contain herself, a mixture of fear and excitement dawn on her as she looks off camera, expecting someone to tell her it's a dream or cruel prank.

Mandy Leon: Her!?

Angelina goes to hush Mandy, not as disgusted as one would expect.

Angelina Love: Challenge accepted! Hmm. Maybe I'll tie a hand around my back to give you a fighting chance Quinny!

Angelina cackles cruelly.

Maria Kanellis-Bennett: That won't be necessary. But just to up the anté… whoever wins the match will automatically win the right to join the fight in the ROH World Women's Championship tournament.

Quinn McKay: Thank you so much Maria, I won't let you down!

Maria places her hand on Quinn's shoulder to comfort her and wishes her luck before walking away from the interview pit. Angelina steps up to the interviewer, with only the microphone between them now.

Angelina Love: Aww buttercup, how cute. Are all your dreams coming true? Well I'm sorry to break it to you but once we've finished with you, you won't even have the capacity to hold your little microphone, let alone fight for the championship!

Quinn pouts and scrunches her nose, not backing down from the threat of the former seven-time women's champion. Angelina flicks her hair in the face of the interviewer, as Mandy laughs and follows suit.

Cutting away from the interview pit, we find the entirety of The Foundation stationed backstage in front of some crates, stage lights and forklifts. They all look particularly displeased, and it’s Tracy Williams who is standing front and center.

Tracy Williams: Seems like everywhere The Foundation looks, there’s someone else trying to get a shot at us. Well hey, that’s just fine with us! We set out to be the standard bearers of this organization and that means the onus is on us to always be on the frontlines, taking on all challengers, and proving that the phrase “Honor is Real” is more than just a catchy tagline!

The members of The Foundation all nod their heads in agreement. Lethal even pats Williams on the back.

Tracy Williams: Violence Unlimited, we are not intimidated by you! You resort to bullying and barbarism because you can’t do what we do, and that’s compete with the best pro wrestlers on the planet, straight up, no gimmicks! When the time comes where you all finally summon up the courage to take on The Foundation like men, we will be waiting!

Jonathan Gresham: Mhm.

Tracy Williams: Brian Johnson, you want a shot at me? Say no more. You ARE the number one contender after all, and although loud mouths such as yourself are usually all bark and no bite, you have proven to be a worthwhile competitor. So, how’s this sound? You and me, two weeks from tonight, at the 500th episode of Ring of Honor Wrestling. This title right here on the line!

Williams slaps the World Television Title strapped around his waist.

Tracy Williams: And you know what? The Foundation isn't about to rest on our laurels. Not even a little bit. So, I want to take this opportunity to ask Ring of Honor management to find me and Rhett some challengers for the World Tag Team Titles as well. We want the best competition that wrestling has to offer, so whoever you’ve got - BRING. IT. ON!

Williams smiles into the camera. The rest of The Foundation all nod and chatter in agreement with Hot Sauce’s words, as the scene fades to darkness.

BANDIDO and REY HORUS vs. THE BOUNCERS w/ KEN DIXON

Back in the ring, we find the contestants of the main event have already found their way to the ring and are awaiting the bell, as Bandido and Horus stand across the ring from The Bouncers who are getting some last minute motivation from their pedagogue Ken Dixon.

Referee Todd Sinclair calls for the bell. Bandido and Rey Horus extend their hands to shake but instead Beer City Bruiser stomps on Horus' foot. Bandido sees red and tries to get at the team of powerhouses. Caprice points out that Ken Dixon, who is at ringside, has been feeding this more aggressive side to The Bouncers in the hopes of paving their way towards the Ring of Honor World Tag Team Championships. Sinclair holds Bandido back and instructs him to go back to his corner as Brian Milonas and BCB send Horus to the ropes and attempt a double clothesline, which Horus manages to flip over and rebounds off the rope with another flip when they attempt the move again. Bandido retreats to his corner, allowing Sinclair to warn Milonas out of the ring. The distraction allows Horus to take advantage as he delivers a low dropkick to the feet of Beer City Bruiser, bringing him to his knees.

Rey Horus comes off the ropes again, looking to hit the headscissors but even when wounded, the power of Beer City Bruiser is too much as he throws Horus across the ring. Ian and Caprice are left astounded when Horus manages to land on his feet and duck under Bruiser again and then leap frog a forearm attempt. BCB waits and grabs Horus, throwing him into the ropes and delivering a clubbing blow to the ribs of his opponent. Ian points out that while Horus and Bandido have the speed advantage, The Bouncers are able to swat their opponents down and cut them off with their strength. Beer City Bruiser lifts Horus up and charges him into the corner, turning and delivering a back elbow, followed by a second as Dixon applauds on the outside.

Beer City Bruiser looks around the arena as he makes the tag to Milonas and takes a run up to Horus with a vicious cannonball! Milonas then charges with a big-time hip attack before dragging Horus out for the pin. The pin gets to a two, as Bandido almost has to jump in to break up the count, however Horus is able to get the shoulder up on his own before the three. Dixon tells Milonas to "leave his mark" as he makes the bold move to climb to the second rope. However, the big man takes too long which allows Horus to hit a superkick! Milonas is dazed but manages to stay on the second rope. Horus then manages to throw Milonas back down to the mat with a crashing thud. Horus climbs the ropes but allows himself to get distracted by Ken Dixon on the floor, which allows Beer City Bruiser to charge and shove Horus off from the top rope to the outside of the ring! Sinclair scolds Dixon and warns Bruiser back as Bandido checks on his partner. Sinclair begins the count to 20 as we head to commercial break…

Back from the commercial, Bruiser is back in the ring having got the tag in the interim. He approaches Horus, who has made it to the apron and goes to throw him back into the ring. However, Horus performs an entire front flip to land back on his feet… PUMP KICK! He dives and manages to make the tag to Bandido, who jumps the top rope and kicks Bruiser in the gut before sweeping the legs to ground the big man. Bandido seizes the opportunity to hit a beautiful springboard moonsault for the cover. 1… 2… NO! Bruiser stays alive as he rolls over to the ropes and tries to get his way to his feet while Bandido makes his next move.

“Tag!” Sinclair calls as Horus tags himself back into the match, despite taking some damage earlier in the match. Riccaboni speculates whether Horus and Bandido are on the same page after the dissolution of the MexiSquad stable and the follow-up triple threat match at the 19th Anniversary Show. Horus runs and delivers a tiger feint kick in the corner. Bandido spins Horus round as it looks like there's some tension between the luchadors. Dixon licks his lips on the outside, seeing the rift seemingly forming.

Horus then suddenly takes a run at Bandido and goes for a tilt-a-whirl headscissors, but Bandido then launches Horus out of the headscissors and onto The Bruiser for a big DDT! Horus struggles back to his feet and high-fives Bandido, with the whole thing looking to be a ruse. Bandio gets back to his corner and Horus tags him back in, the team deliberately not allowing BCB any breathing room. Bandido chops Bruiser against the ropes but as he goes for the second, Bruiser grabs the wrist and tags Milonas into the ring. The Bouncers powerfully throw Bandido backwards into their turnbuckle with a crash! Bruiser then manages to hit a big splash in the corner and whips Bandido into Milonas for a spinning sidewalk slam! Milonas makes the cover, all 400+ pounds of him pressing down on Bandio, but no! He only gets the two-count.

Somehow Bandido manages to kick out. Milonas makes Bandido pay with a running leg drop as he covers again, though he is still only able to draw a two! Dixon looks furious as he barks at Milonas to end this thing. Milonas grabs Bandido by the throat and pulls him to his feet, but Bandido manages to hit a jawbreaker followed by a sudden high knee! Looking to play to his strengths, Bandido takes Milonas off his feet with a springboard Tornilla! Milonas uses the ropes to get to his feet, as Bandido attempts his signature crucifix pin, however Milonas helicopters it into a big backbreaker.

Bruiser tags in, and The Bouncers bring Bandido to his feet against the ropes. Milonas goes to throw a lariat but Bandido dodges and pulls the top rope down causing Milonas to roll to the outside! Bruiser takes a swing as well, but Bandido ducks and hits a dropkick to knock Bruiser off his feet. Bandido then makes the tag to Horus before running the ropes and using Bruiser's body to launch off of and hit a Fosbury Flop onto Milonas on the floor! Horus then takes to the top rope to come flying at Beer City Bruiser, but Bruiser counters Horus mid-air and drives him into the mat with a sitout chokebomb! Bruiser secures a cover - 1… 2… Kick out!

On the floor, Dixon yells at Milonas to get back up. Bandido is able to recover and make it back to his own corner. In the ring, Bruiser begins to lumber his way up the ropes while mocking Bandido with his taunt as he looks across the ring. The super heavyweight comes off the top rope for a FROG SPLASH on Horus, but NO… Horus gets the KNEES UP! Bruiser recoils and writhes in pain. Milonas manages to get to his corner and make the blind tag to get himself in the match. He pulls Horus back from making the tag and locks in a waistlock but Horus manages to wriggle free and ducks through the legs for a tag. Bandido launches straight in with another springboard Tornilla but Milonas catches and hits a poweslam! He follows up with a running senton but misses as Bandido rolls out of the way! Brian Milonas uses the ropes to get back to his feet. Bandido goes for the attack but Dixon holds his feet, cutting off “The Most Wanted” mid-offense.

Horus goes to the floor to handle Dixon, but he’s met by BCB as the two illegal men begin brawling on the outside. Inside, Milonas is still recovering and Bandido refocuses his attack, as he connects with running double knees to the back! Milonas is vulnerable and Bandido senses there's blood in the water as he performs his famous shooting guns taunt. Bandido gets Milonas lined up and hits an ALMIGHTY 21 PLEX! Commentary are STUNNED as BANDIDO HAS JUST PERFORMED A SLINGSHOT GERMAN SUPLEX ON THE BEHEMOTH! Bandido even manages to keep Milonas stacked with a bridge, as the referee makes the count. 1… 2… 3! It’s over!

OFFICIAL RESULT: Bandio and Rey Horus defeat The Bouncers by pinfall (12:01)

Todd Sinclair calls for the bell as Dixon looks angered at the result. Rey Horus rolls back into the ring and celebrates with Bandido, the referee raising both their arms in victory. It appears that Bandido and Horus are stronger than ever as Ian and Caprice prepare to wrap up the show, until a familiar theme begins playing…

And indeed, out comes "El Toro Blanco", the ROH World Champion RUSH decked out in his signature all-white suit and his bull mask that he's been known to wear in his entrances. Bandido and Horus gather together in the ring and look up the ramp at RUSH, who stands with a big devious grin. The champion then removes his mask, and has a long staredown with Bandido and Horus from the stage. At last, he brings the microphone up to his mouth.

RUSH: ¡Felicidades por su victoria mis amigos! You two are very impressive, I will admit. And that is why I am so pleased to come out here, and make this announcement.

Bandido and Horus look at each other, wondering what RUSH has up his sleeve. The champ raises his hand, pointing to Bandido. Bandido looks around curiously.

RUSH: Bandido! I was just contacted by Cary Silkin who informed me of who I will be facing at The Return…

Bandido looks surprised, and points to himself with a quizzical expression.

RUSH: That's right cabrón. The ROH Board of Directors have appointed you the new number 1 contender for this, MY Ring of Honor World Championship!

RUSH slaps the belt that is draped over his title.

RUSH: I wanted to be the first to congratulate you, Bandio. 2 years ago at the 17th Anniversary Show, I defeated you. You and I were both new to Ring of Honor, and it was me who won the match and me who would become World Champion! Now, I see you have grown. You are finally making a man out of yourself. May 22nd in Dallas, it will be me and you, one on one, and I will find out firsthand what kind of cajones you've got on you!

Bandido shakes his head, with his muffled speech being heard slightly through his mask.

RUSH: You bring me your very best, Bandido! You know that I will show NO mercy on you cabrón. I do not care that we come from the same heritage and culture… Ring of Honor is MY empire! I will fight to the end to defend what is MINE!

RUSH tosses the microphone down and turns his back to exit. But before he can disappear to the back, Bandido calls out to him over the microphone.

Bandido: RUSH… RUSH… retorno!

Stopping in his tracks, the ROH World Champion turns back.

Bandido: Aye, I respect you, RUSH. You have created a legacy for our people here in Ring of Honor by being one of the greatest champions of all time! But, you need to realize something… I am your greatest challenge! I have made my mark here in ROH, just as you have, and the final thing I need to do to solidify my own legacy is win that championship! At The Return on May 22nd, I am going to do just that! Estoy listo, and I’m going to tell you right now that if you overlook me… it will be the greatest mistake you ever make!

Bandido drops the mic, as Horus pats him on the back and talks him up. RUSH stands with a snarling look on his face for a moment before turning away and receding to the back.

Ian and Caprice now send us off the air, announcing that Tracy Williams’ request to find worthy Tag Team Title challengers is being honored by ROH management. They reveal that there will be a four team tournament starting next week to decide who will face Williams and Titus for the belts down the line, and the teams that will be entered into this tournament will be revealed on this week’s ROH Week by Week with Quinn McKay. They thank the fans for tuning in once more, and invite everyone back next week for more Ring of Honor wrestling!

ROH WEEK BY WEEK
APRIL 6, 2021

Following the routine Week by Week opening, we flash directly into a highlight package from this last week’s Ring of Honor Wrestling, where Chris Dickinson steamrolled Joe Keys, Brian Johnson overcame Danhausen in a rubber match and the team of Bandio and Rey Horus picked up a win against The Bouncers. We get shots of The Foundation staring down Violence Unlimited and Quinn McKay receiving the news that she'll be battling Angelina Love on Women's Division Wednesday. The highlight reel concludes with some dramatic shots of RUSH and Bandido staring one another down after RUSH announced that Bandido was the next number one contender and that the two of them would be facing off at The Return for the ROH World Title.

After the highlight reel concludes, we are taken to a parking lot scene where Shane Taylor, Moses and Kaun, collectively known as Shane Taylor Promotions, are standing in front of a black H3 Hummer. Taylor claps slowly and sarcastically. He says that was a real nice highlight reel but what's noticeably missing is the presence of Shane Taylor Promotions. The group holds up their World Six Man Championship belts, and Taylor says it's funny to him seeing all these groups in Ring of Honor going at each other, meanwhile STP are holding onto the prizes that signify that they are the most dominant faction in all of wrestling. He brings up that the last stable that stepped up to them, MexiSquad, broke up the very same night after STP took care of them. Taylor lists off the groups in Ring of Honor… LFI, The Foundation, Violence Unlimited, Righteous… he says he doesn't know if they're all too scared to meet the same fate as MexiSquad or if they just don't know how to separate personal and professional matters. Maybe it's both. But the bottom line is that as long as Shane Taylor Promotions has the World Six Man Championship, the conversation for best trio begins and ends with them! Taylor ends the promo challenging all the groups out there to prove him wrong, before the trio hops into the Hummer and exits the scene.

We then flash into the Week by Week control center where the ever-eager Quinn McKay welcomes the fans into another edition. She touches on the past week's events and then moves into previewing the upcoming week of action. She says the big headline for next week's ROH Wrestling is the tag team challenger series set to kick off, at the request of ROH World Tag Team Champions Tracy Williams and Rhett Titus. She mentions that the four teams that will compete in the challenger series will be revealed shortly but first, she needs to announce that another match has been added to next week's card: "The Darewolf" PJ Black vs. "The Miracle" Mike Bennett. Quinn says this match has been booked by the Board of Directors as both Black and Bennett have been looking to find a foothold in the singles ranks in Ring of Honor. She points out that Bennett will have an added level of pressure going into this match as he tries to block out the ongoing struggle between Righteous and OGK.

On that note, Quinn brings up that this week's Week by Week exclusive match will feature the newest and most foreboding member of Righteous, the bruiser known as Dutch, making his ROH in-ring debut against New England wrestling mainstay Teddy Goodz, in a match that looks to be a collision of two heavyweight powerhouses! In the meantime, the short glimpses we've gotten of Dutch in recent weeks flash over the screen, combined with some sinister interwoven shots of Vincent and the rest of Righteous.

We flash back to Quinn at her desk, as she readjusts her posture and excitedly declares that now it's time to reveal the tag teams that will compete in the tag team challenger series that will determine who is next in line for a shot at the ROH World Tag Team Championship. She lets us know that while considering potential candidates for the challenger series, ROH's Board of Directors wanted to draw from the already fantastic tag division of ROH, while also looking to infuse some fresh teams that have been looking for a break.

With that in mind, she proceeds to announce the teams that will be competing, starting with The Briscoes. Highlights of the 11-time champs begin playing as Quinn praises the legacy of The Briscoes within ROH while bringing up their recent dealings with EC3 and Flip Gordon. She says that Jay and Mark are set to begin the long climb back to the top of the tag ranks but standing in their way will be their first round opponents: up and coming free agent tag team Terrell and Terrence Hughes - The Hughes Brothers! B-roll footage of the brothers rolls as Quinn says the duo are descended from tag team royalty, being the sons of legendary tag team performer Devon Hughes, aka D-Von Dudley. She says that the duo have been pegged for greatness, as they look to walk in the footsteps of the incomparable Dudley Boyz, but first they are set for a clash of sibling tag teams against a team regarded by many as the greatest in ROH history!

In the second match-up, the recently burgeoning tag team of Wheeler Yuta and Fred Yehi will look to continue their climb towards ROH tag team greatness. A victory over the recently dethroned World Tag Team Champions Kenny King and Bestia del Ring have put the up-and-coming grapplers front and center in the tag division in short order. Their opponents this week will be none other than Dalton Castle and Dak Draper, making their tag team debut in Ring of Honor after unifying under somewhat inauspicious terms last week on Week by Week. Castle is a former ROH World Champion who, despite his atypical persona, is a highly respected figure in the locker room. Quinn seems to insinuate that she questions the sincerity of Castle’s offer to help Draper reach the next level, but she digresses. Quinn says the winner of these two matches on this upcoming week’s ROH Wrestling will meet in a final bout where the winner will have a shot at the reigning ROH World Tag Team Champions Tracy Williams and Rhett Titus!

And speaking of The Foundation, Quinn says their possession of numerous belts in ROH means that they’re guaranteed to have a busy schedule for the foreseeable future. She says that in addition to the impending Tag Team Title match, Tracy Williams also has to be focused on his upcoming Television Title defense “The Mecca” Brian Johnson, which is on tap for the 500th episode of ROH Wrestling! She says that everyone in the company is eagerly awaiting the landmark episode, and she has it on good authority that the Board of Directors are looking to make that episode one for the books! But, more on that as it develops… Quinn then pivots to Jonathan Gresham, saying that he is the longest reigning champion in all of Ring of Honor, having possessed the ROH Pure Championship since it was reintroduced last Fall. She states that “The Octopus” has taken no breaks in defending his title, and it looks as if he is not going to slow down anytime soon, as she queues up a special message from the man himself!

We flash over to a pre-filmed vignette where Gresham is sitting in a dark gym, with a ring visible in the background. He is dressed sharply in a tailored dress shirt and slacks, and has the Pure Championship sitting prominently in his lap. As some dramatic orchestral music plays in the background, clips of Gresham breaking down various opponents, including Alex Shelley, Josh Woods, Flip Gordon, Matt Sydal and Mark Haskins are intercut with Gresham speaking to the camera. Gresham states that when the Pure Championship was revived, he knew that the onus was going to be on him to bring that title back to the esteem it was once held in during its original incarnation when the likes of Bryan Danielson, Samoa Joe, Nigel McGuinness and AJ Styles brought it to the forefront of professional wrestling. He says that with the help of some great competition, the Pure Title is once again one of the most prestigious and sought after championships in the world. However, he is not content to simply hold the title, and the hunger still grips him to defend the title against the best competition in the world. Therefore, next week on Week by Week, two men who have been plying their craft their years with the best of them will go head to head, with the winner getting a shot at the Pure Championship! Now, highlights of the two men in questions begin to play. Gresham announces that it will be the newly rechristened World Famous CB, formerly known as Cheeseburger, taking on “The Ace of Space” Leon St. Giovanni. Gresham expounds on the technical prowess of both men, pointing out that World Famous CB is the man entrusted by Ring of Honor to bring along their new recruits at the Dojo, and stating that in previous meetings with LSG, Gresham has found Giovanni to be one of the most challenging competitors in all of Ring of Honor to go hold-for-hold with. He says it will be his honor to defend the title against either man, and next week right here on Week by Week we will find out who that man will be!

The vignette wraps up and we’re taken back to Quinn who is nodding her head. She comments that there’s so much to look forward to in the coming week of ROH, and wants to remind the fans that tomorrow night is the much-anticipated return of Women’s Division Wednesday! The showcase of ROH’s extremely talented women returns with the legendary former Women of Honor Champion Sumie Sakai taking on “The Lucha Baddie” Miranda Alize, a fiery competitor from Texas who has been on the radar of every major US promotion in recent years. Quinn tries to contain her excitement as she also announces that she’ll be making her ROH debut tomorrow night! And then, in a much less enthusiastic and actually rather grumbly tone she reveals that her opponent will be *sigh* Angelina Love. She shakes off her disdain and recomposes herself, snapping back into a more upbeat cadence, saying that fans will not want to miss the action of Women’s Division Wednesday! And with that, it’s time to send it over to this week’s Week by Week exclusive match: Dutch vs. Teddy Goodz!

DUTCH vs. TEDDY GOODZ

The well-built New England journeyman Teddy Goodz is waiting in the ring as the segment begins. The ethereally bluesy strums of “Welcome to Ring of Horror” begin to play throughout the arena, beckoning the arrival of Righteous. The leader of the outfit, Vincent, appears first, dancing like a lunatic and singing some gibberish into the camera. The second wave consists of the unhinged Vita Von Starr and the nearly catatonic Bateman. Bringing up the rear is the debuting Dutch - dressed in some worn out jeans, a torn up thermal long-sleeve and a brown leather butcher’s apron. Dutch climbs into the ring, and tipping the scales at close to 350 pounds, he makes the relatively muscular Teddy Goodz look like a cruiserweight by comparison.

The bell rings and the two men meet in the middle of the ring, trading punches. It doesn’t take long for Dutch to get the better of the exchange. Goodz falls to the corner to try to get a break but then looks over his shoulder to see the freakish members of Righteous and quickly scurries out, back to the middle of the ring. The two men lock horns now, with Dutch using sheer power to back Goodz down into the corner with seemingly great ease. Dutch makes the clean break, backing away, but continuing to stare down Goodz with a threatening glare. Goodz, showing a commendable level of fearlessness, comes firing out of the corner and clocks Dutch with a forearm strike. He launches Dutch into the corner and comes charging in with a big knee lift to the midsection. Dutch flinches a little, but the pain seems to hardly register. Goodz looks at Dutch with a shocked expression and proceeds to throw a couple of big right hands that don’t seem to bother the big man. Dutch grabs Goodz and quickly trades places with him, slinging Goodz into the corner and nearly caving in his chest with a big overhand chop. Goodz recoils in pain, as Dutch stampedes across the ring and comes darting back with a shocking level of agility, deploying a big avalanche splash onto Goodz!

Dutch flings Goodz down in the center of the ring and goes for the cover, but Goodz is still fighting as he kicks out at 2. Dutch pulls Goodz to his feet and quickly slaps on a standing hammerlock to Goodz. Goodz writhes in pain for a bit, before executing a counter, spinning and catching Dutch with a drop toe hold that sends the big man to the mat face first. Goodz quickly capitalizes, jumping on top of Dutch and latching on a side headlock to the grounded mastodon. However, his fortune is short-lived as Dutch begins to work up, despite Goodz trying to leverage his full weight onto him. Ultimately, Dutch gets to his feet, but Goodz refuses to relinquish the side headlock. Dutch blasts Goodz with multiple forearm shots to the kidney area of Goodz and then elevates him up to drop him with a thunderous back suplex! Both men recover, Dutch getting to his feet a bit quicker, and they meet back in the center of the ring. Goodz throws several punches to Dutch’s midsection and then runs off the ropes, coming back with a big flying shoulder block that does manage to stagger Dutch a little. Goodz then grabs the wrist of Dutch and attempts another Irish whip, but Dutch doesn’t move an inch. Dutch reverses and whips Goodz towards the corner. Goodz attempts an up-and-over on the charging Dutch, but Dutch has it scouted, and instead catches Goodz in position for a powerslam. The big man then unloads a punishing running powerslam right smack dab in the middle of the ring.

Dutch looks up with a snarl now as Vincent cackles on the outside, cheering on his monster. He puts both his hands around the neck of Goodz and pulls him up to his feet. He holds him at bay with one hand around the throat, rears back, and turns Goodz inside out with a huge lariat! Vincent and Vita dance around on the floor, while Bateman remains mostly expressionless, besides a slight grin. Dutch gets up and drags Goodz into position, laying out diagonally several feet in front of one of the corners. With his opponent completely prone, Dutch heads up to the top rope, which struggles to support the weight of this burly man. Dutch’s eyes widen with a disturbing excitement before he launches himself from the top, flying through the air fully spread out and landing with a huge thud on top of Goodz! Dutch places both hands on the chest of Goodz, not even bothering to hook the leg, as the referee drops and counts the 1, 2, 3!

Dutch raises off of Goodz and remains on his knees, smiling with an unnerving energy. Righteous enters the ring, and Vincent hugs his new monster from behind before beginning to dance around like a madman once more. Vita skips around, clapping. Bateman comes up to Dutch and simply gives him an approving nod. Week by Week fades from the air on this visual of Righteous feeling on top of the world after the dominant debut of their latest addition, the frightening super heavyweight that is Dutch.

OFFICIAL RESULT: Dutch defeats Teddy Goodz by pinfall (4:58)

WOMEN'S DIVISION WEDNESDAY #001
APRIL 7, 2021
UMBC EVENT CENTER • BALTIMORE, MARYLAND

uvMWe9n.png

Ahead of the show opening, we see a graphic of the late Hana Kimura (1997-2020), with the debut show dedicated to her memory.

uvMWe9n.png

And just like that, Ian Riccaboni and Caprice Coleman welcome us to the first episode of Women's Division Wednesday, where over the next few weeks, we'll be seeing the foundations of a new era of women's wrestling forge before our very eyes. Ian reminds us that the Board of Directors agreed that fellow member, Maria Kanellis Bennett, would be tasked with the role as 'official consultant' to a revived women's division, which would include finding talent from across the globe to enter the ROH Women's World Championship tournament.

"Butterfly (Upswing Remix" by SMiLE.dk begins to play with Sumie Sakai making her first wrestling appearance in over a year. Caprice reminds us that Sakai has been on-hand as a member of the judging panel for Pure division bouts but this time, all eyes will be on her. Ian praises Sakai as one of the long standing roster members, not just within the women's division but the company itself and puts over how she already outlasted several talents to be crowned the inaugural Women of Honor Champion - the predecessor to the ROH Women's World Championship - but Caprice ponders whether lightning can strike twice for "The Ray of Sunshine". Sakai enters the ring with a beaming smile, clapping away, having to picture the crowd reciprocating the notion as she looks out to an empty crowd, allowing commentary to plug the journey to The Return.

Her opponent, from Houston, Texas, the self-proclaimed "Lucha Baddie" Miranda Alize. Alize an alumni of Booker T's Reality of Wrestling promotion and a name that has been circulating the industry, certainly looking to open doors with a debut victory against a tenured opponent. Alize looks focused as she makes her way to the ring, donning a rather unique mask, which she removes prior to the match.

"Smash Mouth" - Rolling Cutter

"Miranda Rights" - Crossface

Referee, Joe Mandak, calls for the Code of Honor as Sumie instinctively offers her hand to her opponent, Miranda seems initially reluctant as she looks Sakai up and down but eventually allows it. The referee calls for the bell as both women immediately find themselves in a collar and elbow tie-up, Alize showing a competitive edge as the two ladies attempt to outpower each other. Alize manages to take down Sakai, who slowly gets to her feet, silently impressed by her feisty opponent. Sakai and Alize circle each other as "The Ray of Sunshine" extends her arm upwards for another test of strength, this time though, the wily Alize kicks Sakai's hand away and scoops the former WOH champion off her feet with a single-leg takedown.

In control now, "The Lucha Baddie" runs the ropes and hits an unorthodox Mexican armdrag, giving Sumie very little time to get to her feet before springboarding from the second rope for a wristlock takeover. Feeling her oats, Miranda Alize begins to pose for the camera, bowing and patting herself on the back, allowing Sakai to recover. Alize approaches her opponent and throws her face down to the mat by her hair as she attempts a cover but only manages a one-count.

Miranda attempts to whip Sumie into the ropes but her plans are thwarted with a reversal from the veteran who hits a thunderous rolling elbow to ground Alize. "The Lucha Baddie" uses the ropes to bring herself back to her feet as she charges into Sumie with a forearm and the two women exchange shots. Alize delivers with a chop, followed by another, backing Sumie into the ropes but as she runs to the opposite side, Sumie immediately greets her with a charging forearm followed by a suplex as she floats over for a two-count.

Sumie begins to rally herself up, getting back to her feet as she looks around the ring and pretends to feed off of the empty area while Alize gets back to her feet once more. Miranda tries with a clothesline but the veteran ducks under and whips her back with a snap German suplex. Miranda tries to find some sort of salvation in the corner as she crawls into a seated position but Sumie takes a run up as she begins to trample the young star's chest. Sakai steps to the second rope and hits a Xavier knee, dragging Alize out for a pin attempt....

ONE...

TWO...

Alize gets the shoulder up! Undeterred, Sakai continues to clap away as she plans her next move. Sumie with a waistlock, runs Alize into the ropes but Miranda manages to grab them while the momentum forces Sumie backwards to the mat. It looks like the tide could turn for Alize now as she hits a headscissor takedown. Dazed, Sumie tries to get back into the fight but Alize dodges a strike and clubs Sumie in the back of the head...CURBSTOMP RIGHT INTO THE ROPES! Commentary mention how Alize has fought her way up from the bottom, that she found wrestling as a means of avoiding any wrong turns or misspent youth as Miranda climbs out of the ring onto the canvas and delivers a DRIVE-BY (running knee). Alize quickly heads into the ring to make the cover....

ONE...

TWO...

Sumie's foot is on the ropes, Mandak cannot continue the count. Alize grows frustrated as she drags Sumie away from the ropes and goes for another pin....1....2.....kick-out! Both women back to their feet but Sumie looks worse for wear, the two begin to exchange strikes but Miranda misses.....TJ NECKBREAKER ATTEMPT BY SUMIE SAKAI....WILL SHE LAND IT!?

No! Miranda dodges as she comes off the ropes with another headscissors but this time she manages to transition it into a crossface! Ian says this is the "Miranda Rights" and it's locked in in the centre of the ring. Resilient as ever, Sumie remains in the match but it's clear she's taken some damage. The near 25 year veteran looks like she could tap but she manages to shift Alize's weight into a backslide...

KICK - WAIT - SUMIE HAS A BODYSCISSORS LOCKED IN!

Caprice speculates that Sumie has been playing possum, despite some of the strikes and kicks she's taken as she locks the sleeper hold in. Sumie's body is coiled over "The Lucha Baddie", who is fading and fading fast!

ALIZE TAPS!

Mandak calls for the bell to end the match, Sakai instantly breaks the hold as her music begins to play. Bobby Cruise announces the official result.

OFFICIAL RESULT: Sumie Sakai defeats Miranda Alize by submission (06:45)

Caprice puts over Sumie's experience, commenting that Miranda Alize let her confidence get the better of her when she had the crossface locked in and took her eye off the ball. Despite this, Ian praises Alize's performance as he goes on to applaud Sumie's victory. Sakai goes over to check on Miranda, who is seated in the corner of the ring - Sumie offers the handshake but this time "The Lucha Baddie" shows a mean streak as she slaps her opponent's hand away and exits the ring. Sumie watches on for a moment before returning to her celebrations when out comes Maria Kanellis Bennett!

1635205292361.png

"The First Lady" is armed with a microphone as she stands at the top of the entrance ramp looking down at Sumie Sakai.

Maria Kanellis Bennett: Congratulations Sumie! Now I know that you're probably wanting to head to the back and I won't keep you long but I have something very important to say and I really wanted you be here for it - if that's okay?

Sumie looks slightly caught off guard as she looks to ring side to see if anyone else knows what is going on. Looking back to Maria, she nods cautiously as she tries to catch her breath following a hard fought effort against the upstart, Miranda Alize.

Maria Kanellis Bennett: Don't panic, it's nothing bad, I promise. You see, it's no coincidence that the first women's match back in Ring of Honor featured you in it. It's no coincidence that the first woman to make her way to a Ring of Honor match after over a year is you and it's no coincidence that the very first episode of Women's Division Wednesdays had you in it either Sumie. It's because we wanted you to be a part of this.

Maria smiles reassuringly at Sumie, who looks appreciative.

Maria Kanellis Bennett: People may call be The First Lady of Ring of Honor but you truly were the first woman. You've had the first women's match here, you were the very first to hold the Women of Honor Championship. You have a rich tapestry with this company and if the fans could be here now, you can guarantee they would be cheering your name. Unfortunately, we're going to have to hold onto that thought for the moment but what I came out here to do tonight Sumie is recognize your dedication to your craft and to this company by inviting.....wait, no....by declaring you as the very first entrant for the Ring of Honor Women's World Championship Tournament!

There's an audible applause at ringside as Sumie looks taken aback, Maria has to convince her that she's not joking around.

Maria Kanellis Bennett: When it came to choosing the first entrant, there was no a doubt in my mind that the spot belonged to you Sumie. Now, we still have a couple of weeks to go before I make up my mind on who will be joining you but in the mean time , let me once again introduce to you the first entrant to the Ring of Honor Women's World Championship tournament....SUMIE SAKAI!

"Butterfly (Upswing Remix" by SMiLE.dk begins to play again as Maria takes a step back and presents Sumie, who bows her head towards Maria to say thank you before turning to the camera and posing. Coleman says that he's known Sumie for a number of years and that the announcement made by Maria Kanellis Bennett is fitting tribute to a living legend. Riccaboni points out that Sumie had the first women's division match, she's already triumphed in a tournament to win gold in Ring of Honor and ponders whether lightening will strike twice for Ring of Honor's Ray of Sunshine.

Ian reminds of us this evening's main event as Quinn McKay receives the opportunity to settle the score against The Allure's Angelina Love and become the second entrant in the Women's World Championship tournament. Before all that, Caprice says we'll they'll be handing over for a very special roundtable, who will discuss the tournament progress, upcoming exhibition matches and speculate on possible entrants (of course!). Here to chair the panel, a woman who is no stranger to asking the tough questions, certified Mensa Journalist, Cathy Kelley.

1635205460044.png

Cathy thanks Ian and Caprice from the roundtable, mentioning that Maria Kanellis Bennett will be joining the panel later in the show to talk about the announcement made just moments ago as Sumie Sakai not only scored the first victory back on Women's Division Wednesday but became the first entrant into the Women's World Championship tournament. Cathy introduces her co-panellist, a woman who has held over 20 championships worldwide, been inducted into three wrestling Hall of Fames and won 5 tournaments herself, a stalwart of the PWI 500 - "Super Hardcore Anime" LuFisto!

LuFisto says she cannot wait to see what unfolds over these next few weeks on the path to gold, putting over Sumie Sakai as a suitable first entrant. Cathy agrees that Sakai is a natural first choice to enter the tournament, discussing how she had wrestled the very first women's match in ROH in 2004 (defeating Allison Danger). Cathy asks LuFisto what potential entrants should be aiming for when trying to impress Maria and her tournament consultants. LuFisto says that the women going into this tournament have to be adaptable, that they can be the strongest or the fastest, the most technically sound but if they're not studying their opponents and trying to learn how to actively beat them, then they are resting on their laurels.

LuFisto also mentions what is great about WDW is that we will see women who have wrestled around the world and gained notoriety and we'll see women who have been waiting for an opportunity like this, there will be a blend of styles, experience and personalities that will adhere to ROH's promise of excellence across all diversities. Cathy points out that tonight's main event will see Angelina Love - a former Knockouts Tag Team Champion, six-time Knockouts champion and Women of Honor champion take on Quinn McKay, who has never wrestled a match inside Ring of Honor. LuFisto responds that it may seem that the odds are in Angelina's favour but you can only poke a bear so many times before it bites back. Cathy mentions that Quinn has a groundswell of support from the fans and the advantage of being able watch hours of Angelina Love matches, which Love cannot.

The segment closes with a reminder that Maria will be joining the roundtable later on but first, it seems that the producers have been able to locate Miranda Alize for a reaction her earlier loss

uvMWe9n.png

The camera picks up movement from the women's locker room as "The Lucha Baddie", Miranda Alize, opens the door and makes her way down the hallway, wheeling her suit case in tow. Having just suffered defeat in her debut match, Alize looks to make a hasty exit. The camera crew are able to catch up her as she rolls her eyes, clearly trying to avoid facing the music.

Crew (off camera): Miranda, great effort tonight. How do you feel the match went?

Alize shakes her head, clearly not in the mood to be bothered by questions.

1635205477890.png

Miranda Alize: Are you for real? How do I feel the match went? Did you not see the match? Now I know that you want to get a rise out of me, tonight may have not been my night but do not count "The Lucha Baddie" out, I've still got time to show exactly why I should be in that tournament...

She begins to laugh to herself. Now that the cameras had found her, she thought she may as well make full use of the screen time.

Miranda Alize: You know what was funny though? I brought it to Sumie in that match, I was a SUPERSTAR! I nearly beat the 'living legend' and yet she gets a ticket to gold because she's been here longer? I thought Ring of Honor was looking to the future, not fixating on the past. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger and you can be damn sure that I'm gonna do whatever it takes to get myself into the tournament because Sumie Sakai may have been 'the first' but I'm gonna be the last woman standing.

Even in defeat, the young Alize seems more confident than ever at her chances of success as the journey towards the ROH Women's World Championship tournament continues. Miranda turns and continues to make her way out of the arena, assured that this wouldn't be the last the viewers saw of her.

uvMWe9n.png

A vignette begins to play out in black and white, we see a silhouette of a figure throwing strikes in the centre of a wrestling ring. A Japanese speaker can be heard with subtitles appearing at the bottom of the screen for the viewer at home.

???: Nothing remains sacred.

The backlighting makes it hard to see any distinguishable features, though the intensity is plain to see.

???: I stepped away because I thought that I had achieved everything I had set out to do.

???: I have faced the best. I have beaten the best. I have even trained the best.

The figure steps forward as we the former World of Stardom, Goddess of Stardom and Artist of Stardom Champion - Kagetsu. At only 30 years of age, Kagetsu has proven themselves to be one of the finest female wrestlers in the world and a huge name in the Joshi world. Archive footage shows Kagestu's previous appearances during the Women of Honor Championship tournament, in which she beat the tenured Jenny Rose before losing out to another legend, Sumie Sakai, in the quarterfinals. We also see footage of her teaming with Odeo Tai stablemate, the late Hana Kimura with Kagestu taking it to the likes of alumni, Mayu Iwatani and Tenille Dashwood.

Kagetsu:
If there is one thing life has taught me, it is to live without regret. Don't listen to what others say about you, do what makes you happy.

News clips of Kagestu announcing her retirement back in 2019 are imposed on screen.

Kagetsu: So when Ring of Honor asked me to come out of retirement to take part in the Women's World Championship tournament, I realized I still have more to achieve.

The footage speeds up as the young veteran is shown expertly applying a cross armbar before cutting back to the ring where she is barely breaking a sweat during her training.

Kagetsu: My story hasn't ended yet. I will become the first champion and I will outlast each and every woman in that tournament.

A final clip shows Kagetsu hitting a powerful chokeslam and following up with a 450 splash, proving herself to be a true hybrid and better still - a true threat.

Kagetsu: Ring of Honor, consider your invitation accepted.

A smile looms across Kagetsu's face as the scene fades to black.

uvMWe9n.png

Backstage at the roundtable, LuFisto is stunned at the news of Kagetsu coming out of retirement as Cathy Kelly introduces Board of Directors member and official women's division consultant, Maria Kanellis Bennett, who confirms that after many hours of negotiation and planning, Kagetsu is the second official entrant into the tournament, meaning that tonight there will be three names announced.

1635205678337.png

LuFisto declares Kagetsu as one of the best women on the planet and puts over the calibre of talent entering the tournament. Cathy Kelley points out that this announcement demonstrates how unpredictable the tournament is shaping up to be. Maria says that the revived line-up will be very different from the original plans that were announced last year and while travel restrictions and the safety of the talent is paramount, she surprised herself when Kagetsu agreed to take part. Cathy asks Maria about her announcement at the top of the show when she delivered the news to Sumie Sakai about her entry into the tournament. Maria says that Sumie has such a special place in the fans heart and in ROH history that it was a decision that required very little thought. Before the conversation can continue, Vita VonStarr makes her presence known, much to the chagrin of "The First Lady".

1635205709188.png

"The Carnie Queen" slowly steps up to the official consultant to the women's division and ambiguously remarks that everyone is so distracted by smoke and mirrors that they fail to see what's hiding in plain sight. Maria asks Vita if she needs to extend the injunction order currently taken out against The Righteous, to include herself. Vita cackles menacingly and tells Maria that she doesn't wish any ill will against her, so long at Maria makes smart decisions. LuFisto interjects and asks what would constitute a smart decision as an intrigued Maria listens intently. Vita says that Maria and her team needn't search far and wide if they're looking for true talent, but Maria is quick to shoot her down and remark that the only in-ring action she's seen from VonStarr is her constant interfering during the men's matches.

Vita smirks and tells Maria to give her an opportunity to "put on a show", but when Maria asks what makes her think she should be prioritized above the rest of the women's roster, things turn sour as VonStarr says that not considering her would be a "grave error of judgement". Maria stands from her seat as Cathy Kelly and LuFisto look prepared for chaos as the tension reaches boiling point. However, the First Lady simply brushes her hair aside as she takes a moment to pause and tells Vita that she'll grant her wish but reminds her what is earned can just as easily be taken away.

Having gotten what she wanted, Vita backs down and exits the scene while Maria straightens herself out, Cathy calls for a break as we hastily cut back to ringside.

uvMWe9n.png

Back on commentary, Ian praises Maria for not losing her cool while Caprice comments that Angelina vs. Quinn will now determine the THIRD entrant following the surprise addition of Kagetsu to the ROH Women's World Championship tournament. Ahead of the main event, Riccaboni tells us to stay tuned as tonight's main event is NEXT!

Ahead of her in-ring debut, we are treated to a video package introducing the audience to the 29 year old Missouri native, Quinn McKay, who has ditched the glasses and bowtie for a more appropriate attire for the squared circle.

quinn-mckay.gif

Quinn McKay: Hi I'm Quinn McKay - wow that feels weird to say not sat behind a desk! I've been with Ring of Honor now for two years, in that time I've conducted hundreds of backstage interviews, I've helped out on commentary, I host Week by Week and I've generally helped wherever necessary but the one thing I've never gotten the chance to do here is wrestle.

I'm sure it's out there already but I actually started training how to wrestle a year before I joined Ring of Honor, but when you're young and looking for a fit in the door you learn to say 'yes' to opportunities when they arise and in saying yes to all these projects and opportunities that I've been given in Ring of Honor, I've not had the opportunity to wrestle in over two years - so of course I'm going into this match knowing that I'm the underdog, the rookie but I've also seen enough matches to know that simply being labelled those terms doesn't mean that I don't stand a chance of winning.

The issues with The Allure started last year before everything else happened. I know that I'm the interviewer, the girl with the microphone and to some, that might make me 'less than' but I don't think Angelina Love and Mandy Leon needed the excuse. When I signed my contract with this company, I was excited to be part of an institution that set a precedent in this industry, Ring of Honor has always prided itself on the talent in the ring, not who can talk the talk and when I look at The Allure that's all I see and that's all I hear - a lot of talk.

I'm not going to sit here and tell you that Angelina Love isn't incredible, but I'm pretty sure she'll tell you that herself in her own interview. Angelina made her mark in the industry, she's won numerous championships and she blazed a trail that many could aspire to follow....so why isn't she considered a legend? Why isn't she in a Hall of Fame? Why is it that she has to beg, borrow and steal opportunities if she's so superior? Answer: because Angelina's success is tainted by the fact that she's a master manipulator and a selfish, greedy 'birch'.

I may not be the frontrunner in this match but this is an opportunity of a lifetime for me. For the board to recognize me, for Maria to give me a chance not only to wrestle but to potentially be part of history in the Women's World Championship tournament, that could change my entire career. I will work my tail off if it means getting that chance. Angelina, she believes she shouldn't even have to earn the opportunity, that it should just be handed to her and unfortunately, Mandy's sole purpose is to stand at her side and clap and nod along to whatever Angelina said.

So go ahead and brush me aside like you do every other woman that comes into this company because that will only make things sweeter for me when your arrogance becomes your undoing. You and Mandy referred to me as the human mic-stand but when we meet in the ring, I won't be getting any words from you, I'll be making you eat yours!

See you out there, sport.

uvMWe9n.png

Immediately following, a similar hype package begins, this time for The Allure's very own Angelina Love, a pioneer in women's wrestling and a very legitimate threat.

angelina-love-tna.gif

Angelina Love: Do I really need to introduce myself? These people know who I am, they have the internet. Urgh. Fine. My name is Angelina Love of The Allure and if you didn't already know, I kinda run things around here. You may all think Maria is calling the shots with her little committees and I'm sure she's really making some big decisions like whether the rest of the Board want to double up on an extra shot in their latte or if they want sprinkles in their cappuccino - but inside that ring, I'm the alpha female.

I am 20 year veteran, I know I may not look it but I know every single trick in the book, I've beaten anyone who is anyone in the business and a whole lot of nobodies in between and I guess tonight will be no different. Now I'm not sure if Maria is intimidated by The Allure or maybe she's spoiling for an invite but I'm not totally sure why she thought it was logical to 'punish' me and put me in this match - I should've been given that invitation already!

People look at Mandy and I and they think we're just another set of pretty faces that go against what women's wrestling should stand for but let me remind you, there was no division before I got here. Quinn might sit at home with her figurines and play make believe wrestling but I've spent decades showing that pretty hurts. I'm sure the haters out there will tell you different but seven...that's one, two, three, four, five, six....SEVEN world championships don't lie, honey.

Quinn McKay needs to settle all the way down, there's a difference between interviewing a professional wrestler and being a professional wrestler and it astounds me that people think I'm wrong for saying that? The truth is Quinn is shady as hell, making her digs on her little YouTube show and playing the victim when her words catch up with her. As far as I'm concerned, she is there to ask the questions and throw over to commercial, she's not paid to give an opinion. Oh but of course, Maria the fairy godmother has to give Quinn's five followers what they want and book her in this match to 'settle a score'. Well Quinn, I'm going to teach you something the Dojo doesn't and that's to be careful what you wish for. I'll give you your five seconds of fame just like I will all these other girls before I become the first ever Ring of Honor Women's World Champion.

So practice your pose, polish your boots and give a wave to all your pretend fans, Quinny because the dream ends. Tonight.

uvMWe9n.png

We are back at ringside, Caprice reacts to the VT and says that neither women are here to play tonight as Bobby Cruise introduces Quinn McKay, who makes her way out straightening her bowtie. The walk down to the ring seems a lot more stoic than you would expect, Ian puts it down to a mixture of nerves and focus as McKay removes her signature bowtie and glasses, revealing a more traditional wrestling attire. Caprice says it's going to be hard to keep a neutral stance on this match because he knows how hard Quinn has trained and how long she's waited for not just a division to compete in but an opportunity to wrestle. Ian reminds us that the winner of this match won't just get bragging rights but follow in footsteps of Sumie Sakai and Kagetsu, earning a place in the ROH Women's World Championship tournament.

The familiar sounds of "Get Familiar" by Skid Row plays across the UMBC Event Center, while Bobby Cruise introduces Angelina Love. Love looks down at Quinn who is stretching out in the ring and shoots Mandy Leon a smile, Caprice pointing out that Angelina is already wearing a crown to show Quinn who sits at the top of the hierarchy. Ian speculates the role that Mandy will play given that both members of The Allure have had their part to play in the heinous treatment of their broadcast colleague. Caprice says that if official Todd Sinclair knew what was best for the match, Mandy would be quickly ejected.

Sinclair calls for the Code of Honor, a bemused Quinn looks to the official and points out that Angelina never shakes hands. However, being the good sport that she was, Quinn takes a deep breath and offers her hand, which Angelina swiftly rejects, scoffing at the gesture. McKay shrugs it off and tells Sinclair she tried.....BOTOX INJECTION! Angelina takes advantage of the distraction...

BUT QUINN DODGES IT IN THE NICK OF TIME! Whether it was by skill or fluke, Quinn manages to step aside and roll Angelina up - THE SHOULDERS ARE DOWN!

ONE...

TWO...

ANGELINA BREAKS FREE OF THE PINNING PREDICAMENT!

Quinn is back to her feet while Angelina crawls over to the ropes and orders Sinclair to back McKay up and prevent her from coming any closer. Mandy Leon is quick on the scene, checking on Angelina, who seems taken aback by Quinn's speed. Sinclair tells Angelina to get back into the match as she slowly gets back to her feet, Quinn takes a step forward but falls victim to a sly drope toe hold, sending her face first into the second rope. Love gestures an 'L' sign on Quinn while Mandy gets up in Quinn's face from the outside, asking the debutante how she's finding the match so far while the veteran drives her knee into the back of Quinn's neck, making full use of the five count. Sinclair warns Angelina, who throws her hands up and leaves Quinn hanging over the second rope.

Angelina steps out to the canvas, planning something as she lifts Quinn by the hair and executes a rope stunner! Quinn rebounds back onto the mat while Angelina brushes her hands together and Mandy cheers on, Angelina approaches the camera and says "it's too easy!" but Caprice chastises her for wasting precious time. Sinclair starts the 20-count but it's not long before the former WOH Champion re-enters the ring, a lot more confident with McKay down and out.

Like a cat toying with a mouse, Angelina crouches beside a recovering Quinn and begins to push her by the back of the head, heckling her as McKay tries to catch her breath and get back into the game. Riccaboni re-iterates Caprice's earlier comments about Angelina potentially giving Quinn too much time to recover, Love allows Quinn to use the ropes to help herself up before delivering a snappy kick to McKay's hands, sending her down once more. This time, Angelina lifts Quinn back to her feet, delivering a kick to the mid-section, followed by a second and whipping McKay into the ropes looking for the hip toss....... OUT OF NOWHERE MCKAY COUNTERS WITH A DEEP ARMDRAG! Much to the delight of commentary.

The two women lock up in the centre of the ring, Love winning the test of strength this time as she backs Quinn into the ropes and delivers a further trio of kicks and whipping her across the ring, looking to follow with a clothesline but Quinn is able to duck the attempt and comes off the ropes herself with an impressive handspring back elbow - shades of Tajiri! Quinn drops down for a pin attempt but Angelina uses her ring awareness to quickly roll to the outside and catch her breath. Riccaboni points out that the outside could provide dangerous territory for Quinn in the form of Mandy Leon but she also needs to keep on top of her opponent.

Angelina clenches her face while Mandy checks that there's no breakages. Quinn campaigns with the referee but Sinclair states that it's legal as the count reaches 5. Quinn shouts out to The Allure, it looks like she's gearing for a dive through the ropes as Angelina and Mandy immediately disperse but McKay laughs with the fake-out. However, this does mean that with Leon and Love now separated, McKay can exits the ring and bring the fight to Angelina, which she does. The two exchange forearms on the outside but it isn't long before Mandy makes her way back round and threatens to intervene, allowing Angelina to drag Quinn back by the hair.

Now with McKay down once more, Love lifts her up and drops her face first onto the canvas, quickly rolling her back into the ring, but has she done enough?

ONE....

TWO....

QUINN STAYS ALIVE!

Angelina begins to grow frustrated and gets Quinn into an inside cradle but only musters another two count. Both women back on their feet again but somehow Quinn manages to catch Angelina with a drop toe hold of her own and lock in a side headlock to bring the pace of the match down to a less chaotic level. This can only last a few moments though, Angelina manages to get her footing and elbow the kidneys of the rookie until she releases the hold. Love scoops Quinn up and hits a perfectly executed fall away slam before again cleansing her hands of her foe before making her way to Mandy, who reveals some anti-bacterial hand sanitizer, which she uses to literally clean her hands with.

Approaching Quinn, Angelina attempts a Lights Out (Lifting Reverse STO) but McKay locks the leg to block it and pushes Angelina away. Love again tries to play mind games as she yells at Quinn to give up, telling her that she's had her fun. McKay initially resists but Angelina crouches, almost submitting to her as she tells Quinn to hit her. McKay tells Angelina to continue with the match but Angelina wants Quinn to hit her....SHE DOES! But Angelina catches the arm and hits a LIGHTS OUT! But what is she doing? Rather than pinning she locks in the KOJI CLUTCH! Caprice points out that Quinn let Angelina distract her and get into her head, veteran prowess proving a worthy tactic as we saw in the first match of the show.

Quinn is fading while commentary will her to find the ropes. In a fit of desperation, Quinn drags her way to the ropes, she almost has it......MANDY PULLS THE ROPES BACK! But Todd Sinclair sees it and warns "The Exotic Goddess" that she will be removed if she inserts herself into the match again. Meanwhile, Love rubsher hands into the eyes of Quinn - a sort of chemical peel if you will from the remains of the hand sanitiser. Quinn screams out as Angelina attempts another BOTOX INJECTION.....SHE NAILS IT!

ONE...

TWO...

...

IT'S OVER!!

....

OR IS IT?

QUINN MANAGES TO KICK OUT! ANGELINA IS ENRAGED!

Mandy scolds the referee as Angelina tells Sinclair to do his job, going on to accuse him of trying to fix the match in favour of Quinn. Returning to her weakened opponent, Love leans McKay against the ropes, Quinn is looking groggy......but she ducks the incoming attack and rolls through. Love quickly turns and is planted with a thunderous POWERSLAM! The leg is hooked....

ONE...

TWO...

NO!

Quinn, rubbing her eyes in an attempt to improve her vision, doesn't allow Angelina time to recover as she hits a follow-up monkey flip! Mandy tries to will Love on but McKay is finding her footing again as she charges her rival with a Lou Thesz Press and begins hammering away at Angelina, who is again demanding the referee intervene. The referee tries to get Quinn back, which allows Angelina to escape and roll to the outside. Her confidence growing, Quinn follows Angelina without a second thought but as she goes to strike Mandy steps in with big gestures to try and block any attack. Sinclair warns Mandy again but she throws her hands up and says that she's not doing anything wrong. Quinn brushes Mandy aside, who dramatically falls to the ground but as McKay innocently insists she didn't touch her with such force, Angelina hits with a spear!

The match continues with Angelina throwing Quinn back into the ring but seeing McKay attempting to get back to her feet already, prompts action from the 7-time World Champion. Angelina makes her way to the top rope, Bobby Cruise announces that there are 10 minutes remaining of the match as ANGELINA LOOKS TO FLY!....

...BUT QUINN CATCHES HER, HOSTING HER INTO A BEARHUG AND THROWING HER DOWN WITH A STIFF SPINEBUSTER! Gaining momentum, McKay runs the ropes and hits a somersault cutter as Angelina is in a bad way, barely knowing where she is enough to make it back to her feet.....COBRA CLUTCH....THE COBRA CLUTCH IS LOCKED IN! Ian says that Quinn's version is known as the BOW TIE! BOW TIE LOCKED IN! Quinn is literally willing Angelina to give up as Love throws her arms around, flailing as Mandy realizes she needs to take action to save The Allure from losing face. Mandy is up on the apron now but Quinn won't release the hold as she yells at Mandy to step down. Todd Sinclair ejects Mandy from the ring as Angelina begins to tap. Noticing, Quinn immediately releases the hold and tells Sinclair but the referee hasn't seen it and therefore the match has to continue.

At this point, Quinn is livid as she takes a swipe at Mandy, who drops back off the apron unscathed. Angelina rolls to the outside as Todd Sinclair begins the count to 20. Quinn turns back to look for Angelina but Mandy hurries around and gathers her teammate and begins to make an exit from the ring. Quinn looks to Todd Sinclair, who continues the count, feeling that the moment is slipping through her fingers as The Allure exit the ring. Quinn debates following after them but again, realizes that on the outside, it's The Allure's playing field. Instead, she recovers, looking at Sinclair with her heart breaking bit by bit as she realizes that she may be closing to winning the match but not in the way she wanted.

Quinn paces, pondering what to do - does she leave the match and face a potential attack only to win by DQ? Or does she stay in the ring and hope that the win is enough to take her forward into the tournament? Sinclair exhausts the count as Bobby Cruise declares Quinn victorious in her debut match. As her hand is raised, Quinn is visibly in her emotions as the bittersweet sensation kicks in. Caprice debates whether she did the right thing.

OFFICIAL RESULT: Quinn McKay defeats Angelina Love by count-out (12:07)

Mandy reappears with Angelina following on (though the damage taken in the match has clearly affected her). The Allure begin to sarcastically clap for Quinn, who immediately jumps out and goes for Mandy Leon.....BOTOX INJECTION! At the top of the stage, once again the younger talent takes their eyes of the prize and suffers for it as Love tries to get back to her feet after that final act of callousness.

We get a brief glimpse of
LuFisto, Cathy Kelley and Maria Kanellis Bennett, with the latter shaking her head in disgust. Commentary give us a somber farewell as they remind us to tune in for ROH Wrestling this week and to come back next Wednesday as the road to the tournament continues.

I got to tell you man that Vincent promo was dead on. I am loving this, I haven't had a BTB in good while that really stood out just on your presentation alone. You make it really feel like ROH vibe.
