Rogerio Nogueira has undergone surgery for the knee injury which took him out of the UFC Sweden fight with Alexander Gustafsson.
The operation, which took place at the Albert Einstein Hospital in Sao Paulo, was a complete success. It was deemed necessary by Dr Moses Cohen, who had examined Nogueira and found a lesion to the lateral meniscus of the left knee.
‘Minotouro’ feels good and is already able to start the physical therapy that will help him get healthy. The light heavyweight athlete was accompanied by the physiotherapist Angela Cortes, who also took care of his twin brother Rodrigo Nogueira when he went under knife to fix his knee and both hips.
The therapist explained the injury thus, “It was very straightforward, the lesion was confirmed yesterday night and was operated early today. During the surgery everything went well.
“Dr Moses Cohen confirmed a small lesion on the meniscus which typically happens with fighters due the rotational moves of the legs. It has not worn out the cartilage however, which make us more relaxed regarding to the recovery.â€
Whenever he returns i could see him getting the loser of the Thiago Silva/Gustafsson fight.
