Roger Gracie responds to Royce Gracie's criticism

Guilherme Cruz - Roger Gracie didn’t perform well against Tim Kennedy at UFC 162, but he doesn’t feel he deserved to hear Royce Gracie’s criticism.

A member of the UFC Hall of Fame, Royce Gracie criticized the new generation of his family following consecutive losses in the UFC and WSOF, saying that "they forgot a little about history" when tried to focus on other martial arts instead of just jiu-jitsu.

Roger Gracie disagrees.

"If you see my last fight," Roger Gracie told MMAFighting.com, "I only threw two punches in the whole fight."

The jiu-jitsu specialist landed 12 significant strikes against Kennedy, seven of them in the first round. He went for four takedowns during the bout, but was only able to take the fight to the mat in the opening round.

"If there’s something that I did do in that fight was jiu-jitsu, but I got tired and couldn’t do what I was planning to do," he said. "But that’s his opinion, right?"

Roger Gracie expects to return to the cage next year, and his managers Ed Soares and Jorge Guimaraes are negotiating with other MMA promotions after his release from the UFC.
