Rob Van Dam Talks About His Relationship With Triple H
Date Added: November 29, 2007
Story By: Steve Carrier
The UK's Power Slam magazine recently interviewed Rob Van Dam. Here is what RVD had to say regarding his relationship -- or non-relationship -- with Triple H:

Is it true you had problems with Triple H when you worked for WWE?

Problems? I had problems liking him. I had problems feeling compatible with him on any other level other than the fact that we're both wrestlers. He would be one of the last guys you would see sharing a car with me. If we weren't both wrestlers, I doubt I'd have anything in common with him.

There were a few occasions -- Unforgiven 2002 springs to mind -- when it seemed like the perfect time for you to defeat Triple H. After he attacked and beat you down on the September 16, 2002 Raw, you sought revenge in a singles bout at Unforgiven six days later. A win there would have been a tremendous boon for you. Meanwhile, a loss for HHH would have done his status no harm at all. As it turned out, HHH won by pinfall. It seemed like he cut you off.

Well, I don't disagree with you. And that's why I'm glad my career is caught on videotape and DVD, so the fans can watch what happened in my career and say it all for me, like you just did.

You've nothing further to add about HHH?

When you're watching RVD TV (his online TV show), don't look for HHH to be in Rob Van Dam's house.

Yeah, IT WAS HHH and the politics man. It didnt have to do with the fact that my ring work has been the same since 1994 or that I cant work on the mic.

Yeah, I am RVD, screw the fact that Vince might probably ask HHH to make me ECW and WWE champion at the same time, or the fact that I always worked stiff as hell, even almost choke HHH in a Elimination Chamber, I lost a title match to someone who has better mic skills than me and is actually a draw, and that's why I don't like HHH.

WOW!

You all know the only reason RVD ever became champ was becaues they needed him to hype the return of ECW. In my eyes RVD deserved more then he got in the WWE and if a lot of people say HHH is a poltic whore then it must be true....

I liked the way RVD doesn't come out and say he blames HHH but leaves it to everyone else to say it...Not like Bret who just says I blame HHH!!!!

At least Bret came out and said it. RVD is too much of a pussy to say it.

Good god another person complaining about HHH using politics to get over. You're right HHH sucks, I mean hes not over with the fans at all and is absolutely horrible in the ring. I mean his mic skills are awful the only reason hes an 11 world champion, techniquelly even though that one reign was only for like 2 hours, is because hes married to Steph.
I'm so tired of everyone bitching about HHH's politics. The guy can wrestle, has great mic skills, and is extremely charismatic. Mabye if RVD had half of the charisma and mic skills of HHH he would have done better against him. Get over it and stop crying!

Bret says whats on his mind. Sure he may be an idiot, but he's honest. RVD is afraid to say anything because he knows if he does he will be blackballed.

RVD is smart because he will go back to wrestling after some rest but he wants money and WWE can only offer him the money he wants. RVD equals a smart S.O.B....

Bret can talk he wants cause he is done with wrestling so comparing them aint really fair....

HHHforever just cause you on HHH dick doesn't mean everyone is....HHH gets shit handed to him while burying yonger guys like Umaga and Carltio and he buried King Booker what gay shit was that!!!

I'm not on his dick. The guy is a great wrestler and has amazing mic skills are you arguing that? As far as Booker is considered how did he bury him? Did you expect him to lose his return match? Did Taker or Rey lose their return match? No. HHH beating Booker in one match is not burying him. Besides Booker burried himself by getting caught using 'roids, I suppose that was HHH's fault, he probably slipped some 'roids in Booker's locker while he wan't looking because hes such a prick. How the fuck is he bearing Umaga? That has been a great feud. Just because HHH has won a lot of the matches, Umaga has gotten some pretty good shots in, he's messed up trips on several occasions. Overall that has been one hell of a feud. As far as Carlito is concerned I don't know what the hell his deal is. HHH didn't bury, he quit, much like Booker. You can hate on him all you want, but you don't become one of the all time greats because your married to someone who has athority.

Agreed. Bret Hart just says what he feels. Just put in his position. You are humilliated in front of your hometown(not exactly but still) and you pass to history almost by that, becoming so important that people might rmember your name more for the fact of being screwed instead of the great you were.

At least Bret says it directly. I blame Vince, then I blame HHH. Not RVD gives all the points to say that he hates HHH and blames him for not being more of a key player, but when asked directly he dodges the question giving an unstraight answer.

Is funny how everybody blames HHH. I will say it again, HHH was already a 5 time World Champ before marrying Steph, and had plenty of influence before that. And be serious, every main eventer do politics. Cena's contract guarantess him 5 more titles, that's politics. HBK, HHH were members of the Klique, there are your politics. Taker, he practically books himself on SD.

RVD wasn't a key player, wasn't a draw and wasn't a main eventer. He was over, yes, but never to be a draw, never to be a reason for you to buy a PPV. WWE gave him the ball when ECW reappeared and he blew it, not only with the ECW title, but also with the WWE title, and was over cheered in every match he had, not counting the fact of getting into drug problems. And that is supposely when he was more mature, and he wines of not getting the title in 2003. Do you imagine what he would have done?

When's the last time you saw Umage beat Triple H???? How many times has Triple H beat Umaga???? Triple H is also going to bury Jeff Hardy at the PPV....

Mic skills Triple H has good mic skills no he doesn't its the same old bullshit with him I AM THE GAME..... I won't lie Triple H got good in ring skills but saying he was great mic skills just shows how much you love this man.

Triple H has got more things by being married to Steph. I won't lie he deserves most of it but sum things he wouldn't have gottin if he wasn't married to her. His 2002 return he won the Royal Rumble the now countless WrestleMainas he mainevented if that's not politics I don't know what is.

First of all your telling me he has bad mic skills? Yea RVD and Umaga are amazing on the mic. Also his mic work with DX was just awful, I mean they were based totally on wrestling his awful mic skills killed them, give me a break. Second of all correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't HHH lose to Cena and Benoit in his last 2 wrestlemanias? The fact that he is a top tier guy in the business might have something to do with him being in the main event at mania's. Right now hes pretty much in the mid card is he not? Also I seem to recall Umaga kicking the shit out of HHH a couple of times this year, it might not have been in a match, but he still beat him up pretty good. Also as CMS said he had 5 titles BEFORE he married Steph. Yes he has a lot of pull, but so do plenty of other main event guys and no one complains about them. As far as burying Hardy is concerned I wouldn't hold my breathe on that one. This could be the start of a HHH heel turn and I could see him going heel prior to the PPV and losing at Armageodon. Even if he won, its not like Jeff Hardy, one of the most over guys in wrestling today, is going to get buried by losing one match to Hardy. The fact is win or lose trips puts on a great show everytime he steps in the ring and is on the show.
