We start off this week’s commercial-free Raw with a recap of Trump’s impact from last week. The opening trailer kicks off with a trump-based theme to start off what Cole called the “Trump-Era Raw.” I will be leaving out most of the Vince segments seeing as they’re mostly dumb filler.

Opening Segment – Donald Trump

Trump comes out and stands on the stage with a new-designed microphone that looks somewhat idiotic. He plays up to the people and gets a bit of a pop and then announces he’s giving the live audience a full refund for whatever they pay.

Segment Rating: **
Pretty cool, he’s combating Vince nicely.

Segment - John Cena & The Miz

New shirt and everything, green-based style with some yellow (fake ass Celtics). He comes out and gives Donald Trump praise and talks about the main event with Triple H and Randy Orton, commercial free, and then himself vs. Big Show, and then people get their refund (still playing to the crowd), still givin’ praise to Trump. He talks about making a statement, then goes to a promo video about Miz (getting incredible airtime with MAJOR heat). Cena then calls out The Miz who is getting incredible heat, drowning out anything else. Miz says Cena’s done nothing and calls him a coward. Cena tells him to bring it basically, and he starts down the ramp to the ring (YOU SUCK! Chants) and then they’re face to face, and actually about the same size :/. He calls Cena a coward to his face, and Cena does narrative and does stupid voice and says something about good news, bad news. Miz is gonna main event the PPV against Cena on Sunday (huh?) and then the bad news is it’s against Cena (what!? MAIN EVENT!?). Then he goes on saying he can’t be rattled and how he’s been through the worst and up to the top. Then says Miz is bringing a knife to a gunfight at The Bash. Then gets personal and says the Real World has been cancelled, and says he’s a WWE never was. Miz sucker punches Cena and runs but Cena isn’t even phased (smh @ burying Miz’s power).

Segment Rating: ***
I liked it, even though it was Cena kinda burying Miz. Miz still got some good heat, and it sells the match well.

SmackDown! 6-Man Tag Match – Jeff Hardy, The Great Khali & Rey Mysterio vs. Chris Jericho, Dolph Ziggler & Edge
Winner:
Jeff Hardy, The Great Khali & Rey Mysterio

Starts off with a KFC promo. Jeff slips in his entrance. They cut some promos during the entrances. And I’ve only just realized that Dolph reminds me somewhat of Mr. Perfect (kinda fitting with his persona) and Sid Vicious (with the hair and vest I guess). CM Punk comes out still not drawing crazy heat, but no face reaction. Jeff looks confused. Edge looks pissed. Khali and Dolph start, Khali overpowering him. Jericho in and slaps Khali who tosses Jericho around. He tosses Jericho and Edge and Zolph out of the ring. Jeff does a rope flip. Khali lets Mysterio jump from his shoulders (cool shit). Khali climbs the rope with a great pop but Jericho ruins it. Then we get a countdown to the championship match, which will close out the first hour? Punk’s playing up as a fan of Mysterio. Jeff gets tagged in with great heat and Ziggler is overselling the attacks. Edge spears Jeff. Jericho tried a Codebreaker but Khali didn’t go down, then a spear. 619 on Edge. Mysterio hits an Asai moonsault on Jericho. Hardy Twist of Fate and Swanton on Ziggler for the 3 count. Punk gets in the ring and raises Jeff’s arm who doesn’t know it’s Punk then shoves Punk’s arm.

Match Rating: **½
Nothing that completely wowed me. Good spots and some good exchanges. Kinda hate seeing SmackDown matches on Raw, but I guess they needed a match filler for the night?

Trump fires Santina, and then Santino runs up!? HOW THE FUCK DID THEY MANAGE THAT!? Unless... :shifty:

Primo vs. Cody Rhodes
Winner:
Cody Rhodes

Stupid promo by the Colons, then Priceless comes out with the new Legacy theme which gets interrupted by The Bash promo, but still plays loud enough to be heard. It’s an awesome tune, but I still want to see ‘em together. Cody’s got Legacy trunks now, and the match starts solid with a couple exchanges. Primo’s being overly aggressive and Cody hits a guillotine and neckbreaker, then slams Primo’s head into the turnbuckle, and picks Primo’s head and neck apart for a while. Primo tries to skin the cat but Cody hits a hip bump on his head and Primo falls hard. Nearfall. More submission on the neck. Primo regains offense and hits a headscissors and a cool dropkick. Nearfall powerful kick by Cody who hits a Russian Leg Sweep. Small package by Primo, nearfall. Primo hits a cross body, but Cody rolls through and pins Primo (holding the tights).

Match Rating: **
Good matchup. Cody’s getting better in the ring. He does need a haircut though. It’ll sell his character better. But the match was enjoyable, a good bump, everything. Cody picking up the win sells the match at The Bash better.

WWE Championship – Last Man Standing: Triple H vs. Randy Orton
Winner:
Draw via Double Count

Starts off with an incredible promo with some decent background music on an acoustic guitar. They rundown all of Randy’s conquests and everything, then show Triple H’s return. Then Trump announcing tonight’s match. Triple H comes out to his usual loud pop. Orton comes out with his usual loud heat. They go back and forth with punches. Triple H tosses Orton into the ringpost and follows outside fighting with the announce table, back in the ring… AA spinebuster on Orton. Pedigree attempt, Orton reverses and throws Hunter over the rope. Triple H bummed knee. Fight out into the crowd. Orton works on the knee/thigh, decent spot kicking the steps into the knee. Orton uses the steps to knock Triple H out. Still working the knee on the apron, then with drags and stomps and a kneedrop then the ringpost. [Personally, I’d do a Bret Hart-style figure 4 around the post]. Orton tries using a chair, but Triple H kicks it into his face. Then Orton smashes Triple H’s head in with the chair (brutal shot right there!). That one made this match better than the WM match already. Going back to the announce table. Low blow to reverse the RKO. Triple H pedigree attempt, Orton reverses into a SICK RKO on the announce table which didn’t break and Orton grabs his collarbone. Triple H up at 9. Back body drop onto the table by Triple H onto Orton (sick thud). Triple H uses a monitor on Orton. Both might have bad injuries :(. Fighting up the aisle. Spinebuster on the ramp. Triple H going for Pedigree, back body on the ramp. Orton stalking. Nice punching exchange. Orton stalking more, RKO attempt, shoved over the barricade. Triple H with a ladder. Misses Orton but DESTROYS a technician LMFAO! Replays of the hit are hilariously painful, or painfully hilarious ;). Orton grabs the ladder and uses it on the leg then the face and puts his leg in the ladder and starts stomping it viciously. Orton opens the ladder on the ramp, goes up the ladder holding his head but RKO attempt blocked, then ladder shoved into Orton. Pedigree on the ramp! Knee is hurt. Neither man makes it to their feet. Randy Orton retains.

Match Rating: ****
Fuck this should have been the WrestleMania match! Both of these men can use weapons and sell injuries, and they’re more believable beating the 10-count by half a second than Big Show! Great use of the environment, weapons, and reversals. Good use of the RKO and Pedigree. Pretty good finish and a great unexpected way to set us up for continuity at The Bash thankfully.

Backstage Segment – The Miz & Maryse

She says she’s still not impressed, Miz talked about how he wasn’t rattled and then gets ready to say he’s awesome, but Maryse cuts him off and says to do something impressive. He’s got a look on his face like he’s got something in mind already.

Segment Rating: **
Still think these two are a great pair if WWE gives them the chance. Good way to inspire Miz, and great way to build Maryse. And it’s setting up (hopefully) something good between Miz and Cena.

In-Ring Segment – Trump & McMahon

Comes out with Maria and Eve, and then toots his own horn playing to the crowd. He says he wont appoint a General Manager. He says he’s going to appoint a celebrity host EVERY week :(. And he’s already plugging for WM26. Vince interrupts him. He says how Green Bay doesn’t deserve their money back. Vince tries to buy Raw back, Trump says no. Vince is catching major heat. Then Vince FIRED Trump!? HUH!? Trump Slaps Vince. Security separates them. I guess Trump is selling Raw back? So this was a one week thing!? Yeah, I was right, POINTLESS!

Segment Rating: ½*
What the fuck was that!? They had potential to turn this into something great, but… RUINED IT! I was correct to be sick there last week afterall. :(

Backstage Segment – Vince & Randy Orton

Vince kicks Priceless out, then tells Orton he’s gonna be in pain at The Bash. Randy’s collarbone definitely looks broken, that’s disgusting. I’ve had mine broken twice. And it’s going to be a 3 Stages of Hell Match (a normal 1-on-1 match, falls count anywhere, and a stretcher match).

Segment Rating: **
I like the immediate installation of this match at The Bash. And the concept is perfect. And it sets us up amazingly (since these guys are great with weapons) to have one of the most entertaining and possibly hour-long matchups that we’ve had in a long time. *Update, apparently it’s been 6 years since the last 3-stages of hell match in WWE. Nice.

6-Divas Tag Match – Mickie & The Bellas vs. Maryse, Rosa & Beth Phoenix
Winner:
Mickie & The Bellas

Sorry, didn’t watch this match.

Big Show vs. John Cena
Winner:
Big Show

Dumps Show over the rope. Show snakeeyes Cena (pretty horribly) on the barricade. Huge spear by Show on Cena, then stands on his throat. Then a “snap” suplex by Show, nearfall. Huge punch to the body. Slap to the chest, tries again, Cena fights back. Show with the fallaway face smash from the powerbomb position. Guillotine on Show. Attempted shoulder block but bounces off of Show. More body punch. Botched sleeper attempt turned headlock by Cena. Reversed into a backdrop. More body punch and Show with a Big Thump in the corner. Tries again, Cena moves, fights back more. Huge elbow by Show. Show hits the Hog Lock with a 3-count botch but Cena supposedly kicks out. Maybe it wasn’t 3, but I heard 3 slaps. Cena with a bullshit Throwback, then the diving fameas… err… leg drop. 5 Knuckle Shuffle. Show gets the chokeslam but Cena kicks out. Show with Vaderbomb then going for the submission but Cena gets out and locks in the STF. Miz coming out, Cena rocks him. Miz shoves Big Show onto Cena while he’s going for the AA. Show gets the pin.

Match Rating: **
I guess it was okay, but I still hate this entire “rivalry”. So lame. Glad Miz had something to do with it at the end.

Backstage Segment – Orton & Triple H

He’s leaving, but Triple H assaults him. Puts him in the hood of his car then slams it down onto Orton and sits beside him, and tells him it’s not over and tells him he’s going to hell on Sunday.

Segment Rating: **
Pretty “powerful” to say the least, way to close with something as short as this was. Triple H getting the sneak attack was fitting, something we haven’t seen much of in a very long time.

Match of the Night: Last Man Standing
The match was incredible, and perhaps the best match of this entire feud. It was great seeing these two go all out trying to make it a rougher brawl and seemingly putting their bodies on the line. I’m really looking forward to seeing these two try to top this, and I’m sure they will. This match has the most potential out of anything they’ve done together, even more than tonight proved to be.

Segment of the Night: Miz & Cena
Though it was a bit confusing, because I’m sure it won’t be the main event, they worked the segment pretty solid, and still managed to build Miz even more, though they made the punch look weak. They better not squash Miz, in fact, giving him a clean win and continuing this feud 1-on-1 would be ideal. Miz has so much potential if the WWE has hopes to do anything with the guy.

Show Rating: ***½
I felt like they didn’t capitalize on certain things, including this Trump thing. Turns out it was just to get some quick boosts in the ratings, but it turned out to be a pointless ploy. They could have easily brought in a long-term “owner” in Flair or someone else in the business who could stick around long-term, or brought in a GM (which I pray isn’t Flair at this point). But other than that, we actually had some good matches, some good promo-work outside of Vince though I’m still shocked by the Santina/Santino thing. Not live work works wonders I guess. Hated that they ended with the Show/Cena match, but it worked in favor of the Trump/McMahon segment I guess.

This is Blue. Whatw as the whole poin tof the Trump thing? We're back where we started, and it had potential to be pretty good. Oh well, chalk that one up as another failed storyline.
The rest of the show sounds decent, and from the bits I watched, it was. Especially the LMS match. I'm still pissed over the Trump thing though. Pointless.

We're working with inflation right now. For Raw ratings. Obviously if I was rating a PPV, I'd be more harsh. But this is Raw, who have been in the dump recently. The match was badass though. It was only missing a few things to put it even higher. Not like they didn't deliver a show on this one.

so what you are saying you rate matches higher that are on TV shows and your more harsh on PPV one?

He's saying that given the circunstances of Raw being truly lame (especially in in ring action), a good match in TV gets a higher rating that a good match on PPV

No, but HBK vs Taker on Raw could have gotten a higher rating by being on for free (I mean, I am just trying to figure out what the guy meant)

I'm saying I wouldn't rate a match on Raw with the same scale I'd rate a match on a PPV, and I'm not rating Raw as harshly as I would have even before the draft, because it's not a great show right now.

I'd find your reviews more entertaining if you were really harsh, but that's just me. It's also more fun to write reviews like that.
