In this week's Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that former AEW Women's Champion Riho has been out of action due to a bad reaction to the COVID-19 vaccine.
He also noted that the 24-year-old is feeling better as of late and should be returning to the company soon. Riho's last appearance for the company was on July 7th when she picked up a win over Amber Nova in Miami, Florida, in a match taped for AEW Dark: Elevation.
After an eleven month hiatus due to the pandemic, she made her return in Feburary as she participated in the Women's World Title Eliminator Tournament, losing in the semifinals to Thunder Rosa.
Aside from a few Dark matches, she was featured on both pre-shows for the Revolution and Double or Nothing pay-per-views. At Double or Nothing, she failed to unseat then-NWA Women's Champion Serena Deeb in a highly-regarded match.
In a previous Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Meltzer reported that Riho was also in the process of moving to the USA full time.
