The UFC signed another British fighter today in heavyweight submission specialist, Phil De Fries, who reported the deal on his Facebook page, and now it appears that his opponent at UFC 138 in November will also be an Octagon newcomer: Wolfslair Academy member, Oli Thompson. MMABay.co.uk, which has well-placed sources at Wolfslair, reported the booking:

News of the fight was passed along to MMABay.co.uk earlier today by a source close to one of the two men. Thompson signed with the UFC earlier today and inked his bout agreement at the same time.

De Fries is undefeated with all seven of his victories coming via submission, and six of them happening in the first round. His most recent victories came against former UFC fighter, Colin Robinson, and Greek bruiser, Stav Economou. Thompson, on the other hand, has tasted defeat in his career, but only twice, and he's currently on a five-fight winning streak with four of those coming via stoppage.

Meanwhile, a perhaps more relevant UK fighter may also be making his UFC debut on the Birmingham card, as British MMA news site, YourMMA.tv is reporting that the UFC has signed welterweight, Che Mills, to fight at UFC 138. Mills competed on the 9th season of The Ultimate Fighter, but fell victim to a James Wilks heel hook in the opening round and was eliminated. Mills is now on a four-fight winning streak, having just knocked out Mario Cesar at BAMMA 6 in May. He was scheduled to face Joey Villasenor at a BAMMA event in September, but if the UFC signing is indeed confirmed, it appears that he will drop out of that fight.
