Report: John Makdessi vs. Dennis Hallman In the Works for UFC 140 in Toronto

The UFC continues to book fights for their December 10th return to Toronto, which will serve as UFC 140. MMADiehards reports that a lightweight bout has been agreed to between veteran grappler, Dennis Hallman, and dynamic young striker, John Makdessi:

Dennis Hallman’s move to lightweight — and possibly back into board shorts — will come on Dec. 10 at UFC 140 in Toronto against John Makdessi.

A verbal agreement is in place for the fight, MMADieHards.com confirmed Thursday.

As the reports indicates, Hallman attracted more attention with his fight attire than with his actual fighting, when he took on Brian Ebersole at UFC 133 last month in some of the skimpiest fight "shorts" ever sported in the Octagon. Although Hallman suffered a quick TKO loss and UFC president Dana White was clearly and publicly enraged about his attire (although Hallman claims it was the result of a lost bet with his training partners), the UFC has given "Superman" another shot at a lighter weight class.

Makdessi, who will fight once again on his native Canadian soil, burst onto the UFC scene last year after putting on a flashy striking clinic against Pat Audinwood, and then KOing Kyle Watson in stunning fashion with a spinning backfist. The Tristar Vale Tudo product, who trains alongside Georges St. Pierre and Rory MacDonald was scheduled to return to action last month against Paul Taylor, but injuries forced both he and Taylor out of that fight, and now Makdessi will instead get the home-court advantage once again, although there will be a huge disparity in experience between him and his opponent.
