I am devastated, by this news today. Gene was the face of both WWF and WCW when I was a kid... and when I rewatched the old stuff. He was such a funny guy, like a genuine soul who just wanted to entertain you. He wasn't your typical "interviewer" who just stands there and let the wrestlers do their promos, he was part of that promo and made it perfect. A lost art in today's wrestling world... As the Iron Sheik would say "Thank You Gene Mean".

Rest In Peace.

I like the way he controlled every interview. Pulling bare strings.

Nobody rivals him from today.

RIP Mean Gene. You were smart, hard working and got along famously with everyone. The backstage interviewers are as good as they are because they followed your example.

A True Legend RIP Gene..

Of all the interviewers, his touch was the finest. He knew how to get the best out of people and never once did he make them insecure. He riled up Sid at WM 8, but that was just for show and Sid only told him to shut up because he was acting in character. The rest of the time, Gene made the backstage area and the rear stage a place where you could feast your eyes on ears on the best, because when Mean Gene put the mic in front of them, they entertained us the best. Jake Roberts opened up his sick side, Ted Dibiase expressed his vile character in all its glory, making someone dribble on a football and Hulk Hogan gave notable commentary about how it didn't matter whether you win or loose, but what kind of winner or looser you were.

Mean Gene could inspire others to be themselves like no one else.

Like Deforest Kelly once said in his most famous role: He's really not dead, as long as we remember him.

Wow, such a great speech from the Hulkster on RAW in tribute to Mean Gene.
