There is talk in having Trevor Murdoch and Lance Cade break up, with Cade turning on Murdoch. That is why Murdoch has lost weight, got a tan and bought some new entrance gear. This isn't set in stone but management told Murdoch to get ready.

Although it’s not being officially hyped as an MMA-style match, Kurt Angle vs. Samoa Joe at Sunday’s Lockdown PPV is going to feature a more ‘real’ style of wrestling. Angle and Joe are both said to be really excited about the match and look forward to seeing how fans react to it.

Two well-placed sources within TNA say that the company is not promoting the match like an MMA fight because they feel people will think they’re trying to make it look like a shoot. Although Angle has suggested that this match will launch a widespread change in TNA, there are no plans for a dramatic overhaul of the entire company. However, the same style of matches could be used in the future with Angle and/or Joe.

Kurt Angle is said to want the match to be similar to the acclaimed bout he had with Yuji Nagata that aired on TNA’s Global Impact show. They’re looking to work very stiff in a high energy match with a lot of submissions and suplexes.

The decision to book Scott Steiner against the winner of Angle vs. Joe seems like a solid indication that TNA plans to stick with a similar style of match.

I'm really looking forward to Joe vs. Angle and hopefully Murdoch won't be the one to turn face when/if Murdoch and Cade break up

The Murdoch-Cade breakup has been a long time coming. They've been together for a really long time and they've been teasing them breaking up for a while ago then Cade got hurt so it looks like they're just picking up where they left off.

As far as Joe-Angle, I still think having an MMA fight is a mistake and will suck. Fake MMA does not look good. Personally I think TNA is wasting what would have been one of their more high profile feuds/matches on this.

They're trying something which I agree is nice, but I don't think this would be the time to do it. This is the best feud that TNA can offer right now and I'd do a regular match the first and then maybe do the MMA thing if that's what they want. I'm just saying from seeing staged MMA and Boxing and basically anything staged that isn't wrestling it just doesn't work as well. But I guess we'll see, but I just don't think it's that great of an idea.

I would love to see it turn out as a five star classic. But I have my doubts with it couped up in the 6 sides of steel which really makes the ring seem really small on TNA shows.

Glad to hear Cade is getting a singles run as a heel. I think he can be big if he can brush up on his mic skills and I could see him as IC title potential. As for Joe/Angle, if I was TNA I wouldn't risk going for an MMA styled match for the main event because it's supposed to be the match the crowd look forward to and if it doesn't work it could damage TNA's reputation a lot with Lockdown being one of TNA's "big 3" PPV's.

A Cade vs Murdoch feud should be solid.

Is this "MMA style" match a sign that TNA is on its last legs and resorting to a last ditch effort to save itself. Probably.

*Sigh*

The Joe vs Angle match will not be an actual MMA match. Chances are it'll end up being a Strong Style match. Basically, expect a lot of submissions, stiff strikes and suplexes.

In other words, it'll more than likely be the best Angle/Joe match to date.

If Angle/Joe is booked like Angle/Nagata I think it will be amazing. We all know the chemistry that Joe and Angle have with each other inside the ring, and now it looks like TNA is finally letting them wrestle a match without any bullshit storylines and no interferences. I am really looking forward to seeing this, I'm actually ordering Lockdown because of this match, even if the rest of the card doesnt look too good

And that's what I think we'll see. People hear the letters MMA and assume it'll be takedowns and whatnot. The style of wrestling in NJPW (Aka Strong Style) shares some similarities with MMA, such as the stiff strikes and the submissions.

That's what I expect to see, and its something that CAN help TNA put out a different product that is not only enjoyed by wrestling fans, but it could be enjoyed by some MMA fans.

Joe said it best at TNA’s monthly conference call…

“I’m a Pro-Wrestler, Pro Wrestling is what I do, and Sunday it’s for a Pro Wrestling Championship not a MMA belt.”

I have real high hopes for this match, I could actually see it be given a 5 star rating if (and that's a big if when it comes to TNA) the match is executed properly
