A game you thought you wouldn't like, but ended up liking!

For me it was Kingdom Hearts, Disney and Final Fantasy? Pfft, not thanks, it will be terrible! Boy was I wrong xD! Fun and entertaining gameplay with an incredible story!

What about you?

Speaking of Final Fantasy, I've never bothered playing it because I just assume I'd hate it since it's an RPG and I generally hate RPGs of any kind. But the story that I've been watching on Youtube (of X) as well as the music of the game (which I find quite majestic) is motivating me to want to play through all of the games. It may end up being a game (or a collection of games, I should say) that I would put on this list.

As for games that I'm currently in love with that I didn't think I'd enjoy as much as I did, I might be inclined to say the Splinter Cell series. I was slightly turned off at the time (although I shouldn't have been) when magazines like Game Pro and EGM wrote stuff like "the series that will make you go Metal Gear Who?" and so I didn't bother to even play them, but after I finally got around to doing so, I enjoyed them immensely. In fact, I'll go on the record as saying that while they can't touch MGS in the story department (almost no games can, to be honest), they actually do utilize the stealth aspect in a superior way to MGS. In MGS, you can choose to go the stealth route or you can just go in blazing and turn it into a full-blown action game. In Splinter Cell, you almost have to go the stealth route because it is very much a game not made for action sequences.

GTA.... I thought people were crazy talking about it.. "I went and shot up a few dozen people and then went and smoked a bowl and visited a strip club".... I was like man that shit sounds stupid and then I played it... the driving, the flying, parachuting, fighting sharks, shooting, blowing shit up, the random violence, the gratuitous nudity, and much, much more.... how could you not enjoy GTA?

Gears of War. I've never liked shooters, I still don't! But Gears, Gears is different. It's still so much different from the run of the mill shooters we have today and I think I like it so much more than any other console shooter because of how they made it work in third person. First person view has never been my thing, it takes away the feeling of having full control for me and obviously, having control in a video game is a pretty key element to enjoying it.

One of the things that really sets it apart for me is the creaitivity that went in to the game. Instead of trying to become a realiistc history lesson, Epic went ahead and made their own story and speices. There is a ton of variety for weapon choices, the environment is interactive, the maps are well designed, it has a cast of actual characters and because of all of this, the experience means more to me when I play. I'm invested in those characters (except Marcus, he's annoying af), the story might be generic to some, but it was enough for me to fall in love with the game.

So yeah, basic reasoning behind my admiration for Gears, it's different and I like different.

ah I suck at 2D fighters, I mean that in perspective sense, not Models wise. I like Anarchy Reigns if you've ever played that!
