A sequel that disappointed you?

For me it has to have been Fable 2. Ditching the Bows and Armour for Guns and Clothes made me lose alot of interest in that game, especially with the character models being ugly as sin!

What about you?

Doom 3. It felt weird to play and it wasn't the doom that i came to love and adore when I was younger. It became more of an indy horror game then anything.

I loved Doom 3 for the simple fact that the original incarnations of Doom, Doom 2 and Final Doom (unfortunately, not Doom 64) came along with the game. Can't even say I ever got around to playing Doom 3 much because I was so fixated on playing the older games to death.

For me, Crash Bandicoot: Crash of The Titans, Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, Medal of Honor: Frontline, Medal Of Honor: Rising Sun, etc.

I guess maybe i was infatuated with the graphics that the older games brought. They don't make them like they use to.

I agree with that line of thought a lot when it comes to older games. It might sound like a weird thought and I'm sure much of it is largely just nostalgia (not that I find anything wrong with that), but older graphics more often than not just appeal to me more than something far more realistic and authentic. A lot of games are so realistic today that it barely feels like you're even playing a video game anymore.

Not to mention with all the cutscenes in newer games it feels as if you are watching a movie rather then getting a challenge. That's why i brought Doom 1 and Duke Nukem 3D on the xbox live arcade. It's always fun to relive the old times, even if you relive it far to often. Now if only they would bring heretic to the xbox live arcade, my collection will be amazing.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. The God of War, Dante's Inferno and Devil May Cry type gameplay was so boring (to me) at this point. So when I played this game, I was very underwhelmed and disappointed. It's not a bad game, it's just not what Castlevania should be. Castlevania is known for being a side scrolling savant, it's just the way she goes. The transition from side scrolling to high angle Kratos chains massacre was just not my cup of holy water.

I have no problem with change, as long as it's a change for the better. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Also, I realize this isn't exactly a sequel by definition, it's more of game within an on going series... but I don't care.

I'll put in Assassins Creed: Brotherhood in as a legit sequel that disappointed me. I played it for an hour and was very bored. Can't really pin point why either, ACII is my 8th favorite game ever, they aren't much different.
