Yes I can compare the 2. It's a sport. The same sport. One has women, the other has men. I just compared something that's comparable.
Ronda is their biggest draw for women. She was big because she would knock women out and simply kick ass. Yeah, she draw a lot. It was fresh, new, exciting to watch a women whoop ass like men can do. That's why it drew. And, it's fading simply because she left?... wrestling doesn't work that way for the men, nor does it for the UFC. Did the heavyweight division die after Brock left? No. Did the women's division somewhat die since Ronda left? Yes. In comparison, if cena was to leave WWE when he was he was full Time, would WWE for men die? No. If Charlotte were to leave the women's division right now, would WWE for women somewhat die? Yes. Again, it's not that's it not popular or that on occasion it can't draw a lot. Of course it can. It's new and interesting. It draws. Just like Ronda did. Will it last? I don't think so. Not consistently like the men do either.
It didn't go over big because a "women's revolution" use to mean more tits and ass. Now that we're getting women that can wrestle and do feuds. WWE fans interest is beyond reason. I thought to myself after the triple threat match at mania, "holy shit, they're stepping up their game with women a lot. This is awesome." Since then I've had a genuine interest in wanting to watch the diva for once. It's much better. Better than most of the men on the roster? Highly debatable, but it's entertaining and will continue to draw for sure. My point is that it won't continue to be as big as it is in this exact moment. Since mania 32, it's caught the attention of WWE fans, yes, and hopefully it's stays that way. But will it continue to draw more ratings night in and out than guys like AJ styles, Roman, Brock, Goldberg, and cena can offer? Time will tell, but my bets are no. Again, it'll always draw from this point forward. But will it be as big? I don't think so.
WWE is a sport. Obvsiously diff than most, but it's competitive and everyone wants to be the best. Thus, comparing how women draw for nearly any other sport to wrestling has some relevance. Sasha and charolotte, much like Ronda for UFC, are doing great things for the sport and drawing shit loads. But me stating that because it's new and fresh, and saying that it may not last isn't "so wrong it's not even funny." It's pretty obvious and backed up by common sense and any other sport, for the most part. I hope that I'm wrong as you say, but I think it's drawing big now and may continue for the next few years. But will it stay this way and the hype continue? Will it be able to keep headlining events and draw like Roman, cena, styles, Owens, and Rollins can? Maybe, I'm just saying that I doubt it.
There's a demand for women's wrestling and I'm so glad that this is all happening. But I'm also being realistic and just pointing out what I feel to be the obvious.
