Rate Raw 5/8/2017

Spoiler: Raw Results

* WWE Intercontinental Champion Dean Ambrose opens RAW but he's interrupted by The Miz and Maryse. Ambrose and Miz are acting as co-General Managers tonight as Kurt Angle is away. Braun Strowman comes out with his arm in a sling to sell last week's injury. They announce Braun with one arm tied behind his back vs. Kalisto for tonight. Miz is put into a match to start things...

* The Miz vs. Finn Balor is next with Miz's IC Title shot on the line. Balor controls most of the match after they got going. Miz disqualifies Balor using his GM powers but Ambrose uses his and re-starts the match plus bans Maryse from ringside. Balor gets the win with Coup de Grace and was over huge

* Backstage segment with new best friends Nia Jax and RAW Women's Champion Alexa Bliss. Nia still wants her title shot

* Nia Jax is out first with Alexa Bliss. Bayley and Mickie James are out next

* Alexa Bliss defeated Mickie James in a non-title match with a distraction from Nia Jax. Nia attacked Mickie after the match while Bliss and Bayley fought to the back

* Backstage segment with The Miz and Ambrose arguing about being GM. Miz makes Ambrose vs. Wyatt for later tonight

* Samoa Joe cuts a backstage promo on Seth Rollins. Rollins attacks him and they fight through the backstage area until officials break it up

* Braun Strowman with one arm tied behind his back vs. Kalisto ends when Roman Reigns interferes and attacks Braun. Braun had called Reigns out before the match. They brawl and Reigns focuses on the injured arm to send Braun retreating

* Backstage segment with Golden Truth to hype the next match

* Sheamus and Cesaro win Tag Team Turmoil to become new #1 contenders to RAW Tag Team Champions The Hardys. Enzo Amore & Big Cass were eliminated first, Heath Slater & Rhyno second, Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson, and last were Goldust & R-Truth. Sheamus and Cesaro eliminated every team. The Hardys came out after the match for a face off

* Seth Rollins vs. Samoa Joe is next. Great match, Ambrose was shown watching backstage with popcorn and a soda. The match ended in a DQ after Joe destroyed Rollins. Rollins won by DQ

* WWE Cruiserweight Champion Neville is out for commentary. TJ Perkins defeated Jack Gallagher. After the match, TJP attacked Gallagher until Austin Aries made the save

* Sasha Banks defeated Alicia Fox

* Bray Wyatt defeated WWE Intercontinental Champion Dean Ambrose in a non-title match. The Miz was on commentary but interfered and hit Ambrose with the title to allow Wyatt to get the win with Sister Abigail. Miz cut a promo on how he will beat Ambrose for the title next week to end the show

This was a "meh" Raw. I actually could have sleeped walked through it.

Look...I'm not going to rant and rave...because I'm sick of being so negative...

But...the fact that Sasha Banks is wrestling Alicia Fox...and can't even score
a clean victory pretty much proves that Alexa Bliss being drafted to RAW was
the worst possible move...for Sasha Banks.

I like Alexa Bliss...but Sasha deserves that top heel spot...and I honestly thought
she was going to get it...but literally the minute Alexa showed up...its been all
down hill for the Boss.

That's all I'm going to say.

6/10. Wasn't anything special really, The only thing I didn't really like was the ending to Rollins v Joe, just plain generic and boring.

The show was OK. It wasn't bad or anything, but it felt lackluster outside of a few good moments. 5/10

Things I liked:
- The opening segment was solid.

- Finn vs Miz was solid and Miz getting revenge on Ambrose later in the ME made sense considering what happened here.

- Strowman/Reigns was a really well done angle to write Strowman off TV for his surgery.

- The Tag Team Turmoil match was good and really well done with Sheamus & Cesaro beating every team and I really dig the fact they put over Sheamus & Cesaro as strong title contenders. I'm all in for a title change at Extreme Rules.

- Rollins vs Joe was solid, but they didn't have to go for like 15 minutes and then do the DQ.

Things I didn't like or skipped:
- Everything else.

Anyone else notice the plates on Alexa's belt? Seems like she walked out with the wrong belt the first time. :bayley:

I give it a 6. I liked what Balor said, and also I liked the women's stuff with Nia and Bliss...

- The Tag Team Turmoil match was good and really well done with Sheamus & Cesaro beating every team and I really dig the fact they put over Sheamus & Cesaro as strong title contenders. I'm all in for a title change at Extreme Rules.

The Sheamus/Cesaro storyline is probably one of the very few things done almost to perfection on RAW these days as far as I'm concerned and I'm definetely with you on the title change come Extreme Rules. They were booked incredibly strong last night, as they should (unlike what they've been doing with those....nerds - see what I did there - Anderson and Gallows) and it totally makese sense for them to reclaim those tag titles, which could also be the opening for the Hardy's to go broken.

I think that maybe being prerecorded really takes something away from Raw. It's a little harder to get into, even if it is a good show and you haven't read any spoilers. I was in a relatively good mood yesterday when it was on, but I didn't really feel energized... which is why I wrote up the results a little different.

Or maybe I just wanted to try and explain something, regardless of whether or not it even needed an explanation

Agree. Aside from Samoa Joe/Seth freakin' Rollins.... Meh at best.

I miss 2016 when Miz was a credible heel, thesedays he's just a pathetic jobber. Its impossible to care about the IC Title match next week because Miz is presented as the most useless geek in the history of wrestling who can only win a match if half the roster interferes.

It would have done Miz a World of good, and done Balor zero harm to have him heel his way to a win over Balor, instead he just further looks like a useless turd who cant even win when he cheats. It astounds me that WWE dont understand how to book cowardly heels anymore. Its so easy. Have them cheat, and connive and use all this underhanded shit to get the best of the babyfaces until eventually he gets his ass kicked. With Miz they have it backwards; he gets destroyed every week, but once every 6 months he manages to blindly stumble into a win.

Yeah I dont get it, Sasha's heel turn had been built too nicely over a couple of months, then Alexa gets drafted and its just all Alexa now. The entire division revolves around her. I really detest the booking that I'll blame on HHH, it just seems like a lot of his NXT projects just get pushed to the moon as quickly as possible.

Its stupid, Its crapping on a story line they already had going, and its further thrusting Bliss into a spot she just isn't ready for. You cant have a women's Champion who is terrible in the ring in 2017 unless its done as a joke/intentionally to get heat.

That's a great idea in theory...but rumor is there is backstage heat
between Sasha & Alexa...and the 2 actually despise each other.

I guess we won't really know until the next few months play out.

If it seems the booking is keeping "Face" Sasha away from Alexa...
then that may confirm it.

I'm also surprised Bayley hasn't enacted her rematch clause yet...
but...I'm guessing that will come at the next Pay Per View.
