Former UFC light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans was asked if he would accept a fight with UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva if it was presented to him by the UFC. Evans, appearing on UFC Tonight Tuesday, was quick to answer.

"I would," Evans said. "That is just a big opportunity to fight Anderson Silva. He is one of those guys I consider my favorite to watch, and to get to fight him would be a dream come true for me."

Evans (17-2-1) has not competed since a decision loss to Jon Jones for the UFC light heavyweight title this past April. He had won four consecutive prior to the defeat.

As for who "Suga" would prefer to fight next, that would be the same man who handed him his first career loss: Lyoto Machida.

"I would like to fight Lyoto Machida again," Evans said. "He looked good against (Ryan) Bader. I want to get that one back - bad."

Machida knocked out Evans back in 2009 to claim the UFC 205-pound title.

Sometimes wishes do not get granted and unless something drastic changes, Machida is currently expected to face Dan Henderson in his next bout, although that fight has not been signed yet.

Evans will continue training and working at home in Florida while he waits for the call from the UFC with his next fight offering.

I can't see the Anderson Silva fight happening, but the UFC could make this into a tournament. Shogun/Gustaffsson winner to fight the winner of Machida/Evans and the winner of that fight can fight Hendo seeing as he was rightfully the number one contender before getting injured and the winner of the Hendo fight goes on to fight Jones/Chael for the title next Summer.

I like the idea of the tournament but with UFC's recent injury run it would probably be delayed because of injuries and it would drag out too long. Evans vs. Machida would be a good fight for both guys and I wouldn't mind seeing the winner of that fighting Henderson for the next shot after Sonnen.

Yeah I would hate for a UFC tournament to wind up like the Strikeforce Grand Prix in taking over a year to complete.

Machida is a bad matchup for Evans, any wrestler who doesnt excel on the feet just gets picked apart by Lyoto. Ortiz, Bader, Couture, Evans have all been probably Machidas most impressive wins.

That fight makes a lot of sense, either that or one of them vs Hendo.
