We might be seeing some RKOs out of nowhere sooner than we thought. Although it was revealed earlier this year that Randy Orton could miss as much as a year due to shoulder and neck surgeries, WrestlingNewsWorld.com is now reporting that Orton’s return could happen much sooner:

"WWE is currently expecting Randy Orton back in time for Wrestlemania 32 next year. This follows rumors of him needing neck surgery and a return timetable from his shoulder injury that both made his status for Wrestlemania 32 “extremely doubtful.” However, as we pointed out in our coverage, Orton is currently not in the plans for a big match so if he’s unable to go, it’s not that big of a deal.”

There are two interesting tidbits here, one being that Orton may return much earlier than expected, in time for WrestleMania 32 no less, while the other is that the WWE apparently doesn’t have big plans for him on the show anyway. If Orton is able to perform at the biggest pay-per-view of the year, however, it would be hard to imagine him not having a substantial WrestleMania role.

Thanks to the absences of guys like Seth Rollins and Daniel Bryan, the WWE has a tremendous lack of legitimate top talent right now, which is why it makes very little sense not to give Orton a significant WrestleMania match if he’s able to go. After all, Orton played a pivotal role at the last two WrestleManias, having faced off with Rollins in a big match at WrestleMania 31 and main-eventing WrestleMania 30 in a Triple Threat match against Bryan and Batista.

If Orton returns in time for WrestleMania 32, he likely will be behind John Cena, Brock Lesnar, The Undertaker and Reigns (as far as babyfaces go) on the card, but he could provide the show with a great upper midcard matchup against one of the WWE’s rising young heels, plenty of which Orton has never really feuded with in the past.

Assuming Orton is back, look for him to head to WrestleMania to battle one of the League of Nations members (preferably Rusev), Bray Wyatt or perhaps even Kevin Owens (if he doesn’t face Brock Lesnar) because these are three options that could give us a quality midcard match while using the established Orton to help solidify someone as a new top heel.

lol I forgot about him. :21-1:

Are we going to ignore the fact that he's having neck surgery in January or February?

Orton is so stale. He should definitely turn heel when he returns.

He may return tomorrow for a slammy... Has he done anything relevant this past year?

:hmm:

Orton has been stale for so long, it's hard to think of ways to use him without completely shaking his image up, which may not be the smartest thing if it were to tank.

Maybe just leave him at home for a couple of years and develop new talent...
