Ramsey Nijem meets Carlos Diego Ferreira at UFC 177 in Sacramento
The UFC’s return to Sacramento next month continues to take shape with the addition of a lightweight fight to the lineup.
Ramsey Nijem (9-4 MMA, 5-3 UFC) is set to meet Carlos Diego Ferreira (10-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) at UFC 177 in the California state capital. UFC officials announced the fight at UFC.com.
UFC 177 takes place Aug. 30 at Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento. The main card will air on pay-per-view following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass. The main event features T.J. Dillashaw, who defends his new bantamweight title for the first time against the man he upset to win it, Renan Barao.
Nijem, a finalist on Season 13 of “The Ultimate Fighter,†has won five of seven since falling to Tony Ferguson in that season’s finale. In Abu Dhabi in April, he picked up a big “Performance of the Night†win when he upset Beneil Dariush with a first-round TKO to give him two straight wins after a two-fight skid of losses to James Vick and Myles Jury.
Ferreira is fresh off his UFC debut a little more than two weeks ago, when he submitted Colton Smith just 38 seconds into their fight at UFC Fight Night 44. The rear-naked choke earned him a $50,000 “Performance of the Night†bonus in his first fight with the promotion. Prior to signing with the UFC, Ferreira won a title with Legacy FC.
With the addition, the latest UFC 177 card now includes:
T.J. Dillashaw vs. Renan Barao
Danny Castillo vs. Tony Ferguson
Derek Brunson vs. Lorenz Larkin
Shayna Baszler vs. Bethe Correia
Anthony Hamilton vs. Ruan Potts
Carlos Diego Ferreira vs. Ramsey Nijem
