Can you explain, why a wrestler like Cody Rhodes could be a future WWE star? I mean, he don't have the top body, unique look or showed any charisma. Is his last name his only "accomplishment", that guarantees him his WWE job?
Before answering, I want to point out that I got this question on Monday. MONDAY, after a weekend of WWE going through the wringer due to the growth enhancer story. I do my best to defend the wrestling business to people who don't get why I like it, but to see a question like this makes it hard.
The first thing you better realize is that very few people naturally have a "top body". That is why we hear about people getting caught using growth enhancers. The business will be changing now that media and Congress are on WWE's back so if you just tune in to see freakish physiques, you probably need to find a new hobby.
With that said, Cody has been been pretty dull so far on the mic. But, he has shown some charisma when he was down in OVW so maybe it will come out down the road. His body is fine as far as I am concerned. The only think wrong with a natural look is that some fans, like you, want something that just isn't natural, and that something else leads to workers dying before their time. Wrestlers are people, not cartoon or comic book characters.
Rhodes is not exactly getting pushed to the moon right now. I have no problem with how they are moving him along, which is slowly. I have been vocal about them not giving talents a chance to get over so I am surely not going to go after them for doing so with Rhodes. Yes, it helps to have a father in management but I think the kid has talent too.
With the cost being one of the main reasons people don't buy all the WWE PPVs every year, what would you think of the idea of WWE making a package with cable providers, where you buy every PPV for an all inclusive price of something like $500 a year? (which still sounds pretty hefty to me anyway), or perhaps like a Big 4 package, with Wrestlemania, Summerslam, Survivor Series and the Royal Rumble for $100?
I like the idea (though there is no way they would ever sell the Big Four for 100 dollars since they retail for almost $170 right now). They have done some promotions in the past where cable companies package three successive shows at a discounted price. The idea has never really caught on though. My guess it's because WWE and the cable companies don't want to make less than full price on the shows. Obviously, WWE wants more money from them or they wouldn't have jacked the prices up so high.
Using your insider sources, is there any way you can find out the names of the 10 wrestlers suspended/fired from WWE (formerly WWF) over the wellness policy a few days ago?
We have a pretty good idea who they were and I have done a few articles for the site on the subject. Check the Top Stories section for more information on them.
Since WWE hasn't officially named names, we won't either. Starting on November 1, it becomes a moot point. Oh, and thanks for letting me know that WWE used to be the WWF. I always wondered about that.
With what has happened with the suspensions that have happened, can you see guys like Paul Burchill and Mike Knox get the call up?
I really think what will happen is WWE will just stay focused on their main storylines and devote the TV time to them. They will get all the guys except one back in a month so it won't be that hard to do TV in the interim. Knox had his chance once and didn't impress. He has some work to do. As for Burchill, I could see him coming back but it most probably will not be in a top role.
This is an off the wall scenario but knowing how WWE creative can be what do you think of the chances of having HHH as the son of McMahon and do the incest angle now that he is married to Steph. What do you think of something as off the wall like this happening?
Knowing how creative is, and how Vince's warped mind works, I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility. I do think it would be really creepy though and I hope they don't go down that road. Personally, I would like to see it be Hornswoggle so that they can do a lot of comedy with it.
