AEW Tag Title Plans Changed, Per Talent
The AEW Tag Team scene changed very quickly over the past two weeks, we're told.
Talent that Fightful spoke with indicated that word had made it to them prior to AEW Double or Nothing that All Elite Wrestling was considering putting the tag team titles on the Hardy Boyz. The duo were on what Jeff Hardy admitted WrestleMania weekend was their last run. Frustration emerged out of that weekend from some talent that we spoke to, who gained word that Hardy had been intoxicated publicly both there and in the lobby at the talent hotel prior to another event. Hardy's performance at AEW Double or Nothing was cause for concern for talent as well, though it was claimed that Hardy sustained a head injury early in the match.
However, following Double or Nothing, Fightful got word that the titles were likely to be moved to The Young Bucks instead. As with anything, that's not confirmed until it happens, but talk of the Hardys being next in line for the tag titles dwindled immediately after that performance. We were also told that the segment between Jungle Boy, Christian, Luchasaurus, Hardy Boyz and Young Bucks that aired on June 8 was actually filmed the week prior, which would have been days after the injury at Double or Nothing.
While there has obviously been plenty of concern for Jeff Hardy, there has also been frustration surrounding the tag title scene following both Jeff's injury, and some indications that a situation like this could happen again.
