Quoteworthy:

“If GSP beats BJ then you’ll see Silva v GSP — possibly at a catch weight. But if Penn beats GSP there’s no way I’d let him move up to 185lbs, no way. He’ll f***ing fight, argue and cry about it but there’s no way – it ain’t gonna happen, I can tell you that right now – it ain’t gonna happen.â€

UFC President Dana White is all about a superfight between welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre and middleweight champion Anderson Silva sometime in 2009. Of course, St. Pierre — who next fights lightweight champion BJ Penn at UFC 94 on January 31 — and Silva — who fights Patrick Cote next week — both more than likely need to win their next bouts for that to happen. Great idea and a colossal moneymaker. But here’s where it gets a little weird — White says he will not let Penn — a former welterweight champion who has competed against light heavyweights in the past — fight “The Spider†if he bests “Rush.†Penn has said numerous times that he would like to hold every belt in the UFC, but according to an emphatic White, it’s not going to happen. White is right in that Penn will more than likely raise a stink if he is not allowed to fight Silva … as he should be. It doesn’t make much sense, especially since Penn would have to vacate at least one title for it to happen. Hopefully, White will elaborate on the thought process in the near future.

I'd say the GPS/Silvia fight will bring in huge money, and should be a hell of a fight. But its not like Dana is doing anything wrong. GPS should be the best there is in his divison (In this case BJ is a top dog), in order to have momentum to move up to a higher, and heavier weight class. If I was Dana, I'd have to have GPS win a ton of fights 'til I say next summer. If GPS has one loss, or less then the guys in the division. Probably give the fans Silvia, and St. Pierre for a '09 Christmas present.

This is one of my dream fights. Have they announced when it's going to happen and I have a feeling that Penn will pull off the win.

Yea Penn vs. GSP is set for February I think, SuperBowl weekend. I hope GSP wins, I was never quite the fan of BJ, plus if GSP wins we get GSP vs. Silva, wtf more could you want?

^that would still be a win for Silva >_> damn. GSP's last fight made me rethink about his ability to end a fight against a strong Ji Jitsu fighter. Silva will win this, 3rd round im guessing.

In order for GSP to even get to Silva, he got to beat BJ, do you think GSP is going to beat BJ WS?

I have a feeling Penn could will GSP down (i'll admit i'm not a gsp fan, and am a penn fan). Penn really wants this fight and has been really focused for it, a ready, focused Penn is a dangerous Penn. I still would like to see GSP/Silva too though, even if he does lose to Penn.
