Pettis Aiming For October Return Complete With UFC Title Shot

"I had shoulder surgery in early April, I'm just trying to get better and get back in the cage. I'm shooting for October or November. I want a title shot, so whoever's gonna get me that next fight to a title shot, I'm up for it. I'm in the UFC and I want a UFC title shot. I worked my way to get here and I think I deserve a title shot.

I think Nate Diaz is rightfully deserving of the #1 Contendership.

Pettis is in the mix but I think he should have to fight either Jim Miller, Gray Maynard or Donald Cerrone and win impressively before we really talk about him getting a shot for the title.

Maybe have Pettis vs. Diaz to determine who gets the next title shot. Both would be pretty close to the title and this would confirm who is the best of the rest to face Henderson.

I like the idea of Pettis vs. Maynard since Maynard is still up there while Diaz can get the shot. And I HOPE that Edgar goes down so Henderson remains champ. So then we have Henderson vs. Diaz and Pettis vs. Maynard and the winner there gets the next shot at the champ.

I think Pettis-Maynard is likely. Both are coming off wins, and want to get back into the title picture. But i still say Nate Diaz is going to get the next shot at Henderson after the Edgar rematch.
