But it's now been claimed Brian could be coming back to the silver screen for the ninth instalment in the film franchise.

Film insider Daniel Richtman teased the news on Twitter: "Just got a new casting grid for something and with it some big news that are sure to be controversial. Not sure how I feel about it myself but we'll see."

He followed up the tweet with: "It's been long enough. They are bringing back Paul Walker's character, Brian to FF9."

Paul Walker died during production for Furious 7 so his final shots were filmed with the help of CGI and his brothers, Cody and Caleb.

It's unconfirmed in what capacity Brian will feature in the film if he does return, but Jordana Brewster - his character's wife - is returning as Mia Toretto.

Fans of the films did not react well to the rumours, with many believing it undermines the point of his final scenes.

One person wrote: "Completely undermining the ending of Fast 7 and Paul himself. Disgraceful."

Love the Fast and Furious franchise to death even Tokyo Drift, but I don't know how to feel about this news. You had Brian's Character off from the group because he had a Wife and a Son so it was too risky for him and he said in Seven this is the last one. How do you have his Character come back and let it make sense unless Mia gets killed or their Son together get kidnapped? I know they'll be able to bring him back to life through his Brothers again, but please let this make sense. I would like to see Han and Giselle come back for 10 if you're willing to do this.

I have to be honest & say I've never watched a "Fast & Furious" film...
& never will as the series in on my "Blacklist" but I always find the
process of bringing a dead actor back to the silver screen through
CGI & body doubles incredibly creepy & distracting.

Seeing Peter Cushing as Grand Moff Tarkin in Rogue One was just
unnerving...as was the "younger" version of Princess Leia and the
fact the F&F franchise would bring this character back after he
(apparently?) had a very honorable send off seems like a horrible
decision to me.

Let the dead Rest in Peace instead of "Parading the Corpses" around
like CGI puppets.

On a related note I just want to state that I think CGI de-aging is fine...
as long as the real actor is still alive to give the "base" performance.

It's not about the story. Its about the actor. The actor himself is dead, his brother is reprising the character.

If you saw the film (F7), you'd know that. F9 was fine. But just remember, "Brian" the character exists, just not Paul Walker. It's gonna be his brother.
