Patrick Holohan vs. Josh Sampo booked for UFC Fight Night 46 in Dublin
Another one of Dublin’s own will be on the ticket when the UFC returns to Ireland next month.
Unbeaten Patrick Holohan (9-0-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) has signed with the promotion and will debut against Josh Sampo (11-3 MMA, 1-1 UFC) in a flyweight fight at UFC Fight Night 46. UFC officials announced the new booking on Friday.
UFC Fight Night 46 takes place at The O2 in Dublin. The entire card streams on UFC Fight Pass in the United States. The event is headlined by Dublin native Conor McGregor against Diego Brandao.
Holohan, a teammate of McGregor, as well as current TUF 19 fighters Cathal Pendred and Chris Fields at SBG Ireland, had been tearing up the national circuit in his home country. But when he fights Sampo, it will be almost two years to the day since his most recent fight. The 26-year-old has seven of his nine wins by submission and has three straight first-round stoppages on his resume.
Sampo signed with the UFC this past fall and pickedz up a submission win in his debut against Ryan Benoit at the TUF 18 Finale. He then went on to fight former Bellator champ Zach Makovsky at UFC 170 in February, but dropped a unanimous decision to see his five-fight winning streak snapped.
With the addition, the latest UFC Fight Night 46 card includes:
Conor McGregor vs. Diego Brandao
Zak Cummings vs. Gunnar Nelson
Ian McCall vs. Brad Pickett
Ilir Latifi vs. Tom Lawlor
Cody Donovan vs. Nikita Krylov
Phil Harris vs. Neil Seery
Trevor Smith vs. Tor Troeng
Naoyuki Kotani vs. Norman Parke
Patrick Holohan vs. Josh Sampo
