Paramount Looking To Re-Team Mark Wahlberg And Will Ferrell In ‘Daddy’s Home’

EXCLUSIVE: Paramount is trying to move fast on Daddy’s Home, with talks heating for Mark Wahlberg to reteam with Will Ferrell in the Gary Sanchez-produced comedy. Horrible Bosses 2 helmer Sean Anders and John Morris are in that discussion to direct and production would begin this fall.

This is the movie that looked like it was going to happen last year with Vince Vaughn and Ferrell, and Etan Cohen directing. That version of the film fell apart, but it is fast coming back together with Wahlberg, who just did Transformers: Age Of Extinction for Paramount. He and Ferrell are an easy match; they starred together in the 2010 hit The Other Guys. Anders & Morris stepped up to direct Horrible Bosses 2 after they scripted the sleeper hit We’re The Millers.

Originally scripted by Brian Burns, Adam McKay & Chris Henchy and Cohen, Daddy’s Home casts Ferrell as a mild-mannered radio executive who strives to become the best stepdad ever to his wife’s two children. Complications ensue when their freewheeling, freeloading real father (Wahlberg) arrives, forcing the stepdad to compete for the affection of the kids. Ferrell and Adam McKay are producing through Gary Sanchez Productions, whose Henchy, Kevin Messick and Jessica Elbaum will executive produce. Wahlberg’s repped by WME and Leverage, Anders by Mosaic, Morris by Mosaic and CAA and Ferrell by CAA and Mosaic.

So they want to try and capture their chemistry from the Other Guys which was a decent comedy.

The Other Guys was okay, but I didn't think their chemistry was THAT great and certainly not clamoring for someone else with them together.

Hell, if anything it made me want to see The Rock and Samuel L. Jackson together in another movie.

I agree with this 100%. Those two were a hell of alot better than Marky Mark and Will. I thought Rock and Sam stole that movie.
