Rousimar “Toquinho†Palhares suffered his third loss in ten UFC fights, when confronted Alan Belcher and was knocked out on the initial round, and didn’t spare critics towards his performance.
On an exclusive interview to TATAME Magazine, the fighter didn’t reveal the reason for his bad performance, but guaranteed he won’t act like this again ever.
“I couldn’t do anything, I was too sick. I don’t really wanna talk about it so it doesn’t sound like an excuse and I’m not taking back his creditsâ€, says the fighter. “That’s only going to strengthen me and I’ll become a championâ€.
During the fight, the Brazilian insisted on a heel hook, but couldn’t get the finish and was knocked out right after his frustrated attempts.
“When you get it (the position), you gotta really get it. I tried to repeat it, but I was gassing off, I was not strong enough. It wasn’t my day, literally. I was dead, I couldn’t moveâ€, he said.
“My plan now is to train and never step up on the ring like I did this time. I was trying to jump and scream to see if I had any energy left, but I couldn’t do itâ€.
I like him and i think he is top 3 in BJJ in the UFC right now, but it does seem like he's making excuses for that fight.
