Pairings revealed for featherweight-tourney opening round at Bellator 110
The opening round of Bellator’s Season 10 featherweight tournament is slated for Bellator 110, and officials today revealed the tourney’s four matchups, including Diego Nunes vs. Matt Bessette.
Bellator 110 takes place Feb. 28 at Mohegan Sun Arena Uncasville, Conn. The main card, including the opening round of a four-man light-heavyweight tournament, airs on Spike TV following prelims on Spike.com.
It’s not clear which featherweight-tourney fights will be part of the televised main card.
Nunes (18-5 MMA, 0-1 BMMA), a UFC/WEC vet, recently made his Bellator debut and suffered a knockout loss to Patricio Freire in a Season 9 tournament. He takes on Matt Bessette (12-4 MMA, 3-0 BMMA), who’s won four straight, including a pair of Bellator bouts. Most recently, he knocked out Nick Piedmont at Bellator 98.
Also booked for the tourney is a bout between Mike Richman (16-3 MMA, 5-2 BMMA), whose past two tourneys resulted in semifinal and runner-up finishes, against Desmond Green (9-2 MMA, 1-1 BMMA), who enters his second Bellator tournament after a recent knockout of Angelo Sanchez.
Rounding out the field are Scott Cleve (14-3 MMA, 1-0 BMMA) vs. Daniel Weichel (31-8 MMA, 0-0 BMMA) and Will Martinez (8-2-1 MMA, 4-0 BMMA) vs. Goiti Yamauchi (16-1 MMA, 2-0 BMMA).
