This has been a big issue for TNA, and of late it seems to have come up again. Watching some of the last few iMPACT's, and seeing the card for Sacrifice, it seems that TNA is 'overbooking' again. What is overbooking? Having too many gimmick matches, too much interference, too much weapon use etc. This is burning the viewers out, making them think enough.

Now when people think of overbooking, I am sure the first thing that comes to mid is 'Russo'. But that isn't exactly right. Sure our good pal Vince (the less successful Vince) may be responsible for a fair share of it (especially the gimmick matches), but he definately isn't solely responsible. After all, when Vince wasn't booking in TNA, there was still this problem.

This points me to Jeff Jarrett. Jarrett clearly thinks interference and cheap finish = heat. Unfortunately, Jeff is wrong. I mean, look at his title reigns. They were all booked around him winning in 'heelish' ways. Fact is they were just plain stupid. Since Jarrett is clearly stil booking, and since there is too much interference and stupid finishes, I am taking aa educated guess that he is responsible.

How would I fix it? Well one man on the TNA booking comittee certainly seems to know what he is doing. That would be Scott D'Amore. Scott is in charge of the Knockouts, and they are quite clearly the best booked part of TNA at the moment. I mean look at the series between Gail Kim and Awesome Kong. Look at the way he has made Roxxi Laveaux look pretty damn credible (and make me want her to become Knockout's Champion). I know there is a stupid gimmick match with the Knockout's coming up at Sacrifice, but I'm calling Russo on this. Gimmick matches are what he loves after all.

I doubt that this is going to stop anytime soon. And I don't think it should really stop immediately. If TNA's booking suddenly changes, it may actually alienate some viewers. So I really hope that the overbooking will be taken away bit by bit, and that Scott D'Amore gets a lot more input on the whole booking of TNA, and there is less Russo/Jarrett. Maybe if someone like Dixie Carter looked at the crowd reactions, and saw how well D'Amore has got the Knockout's Division over, she would make Jarrett allow him more power. I still want him to do the Knockout's Division, but more D'Amore booking on the show would be great.

Those are my hopes. Sadly, I think none of this will be done. Any thoughts on my hopes, the reality and/or what you would do to fix it would be appreciated.

You bring up some good points, and D'amore has gotten the womens division over. I'd like to see something new from their booking approach. There ratings have been stagnant. I would have liked to see them keep ahold of raven, and use him as a booker.

While I agree with D'Amore making a good work and he has built the knockout division amazingly, however I would prefer them to actually let Cornette book

^ I wish...

I dont think anybody in TNA sees overbooking as a problem unfortunately. It will probably be a problem in TNA for years to come, and unless something drastic occurs I'm pretty sure this is the booking formula TNA will be using for a long time

Overbooking is what makes TNA unique and different and what could make TNA very very big one day.

Yeah I mean, it has made WCW so great until the day and....no, it just doesn't works. For WCW, it didn't work to book a lot of gimmick matches in one card, and they had a name to base on, they had some credibility, why would that work for a ratherly unknown company then?

I actually agree with CMS...Cornette should book he knows what he's doing & he could turn things around in an average way...

This is something that's concerned me for a long time. Tthere are rarely any matches where two people enter the ring, wrestle, and leave the ring. It's usually two people plus 6 wrestlers, 4 knockouts, 3 officials, 2 monkeys and a zebra. Doing this takes away from the value of the match. If someone beats someone it should mean something. Not "oh he beat him but there was interference from 10 different people in the match". And like I said in another thread stop with the gimmick matches. Not every match has to have a gimmick attached to it.

I'm guessing you either didn't read my first post, or just have one of the worst views on wrestling ever.

To those of you who have said Jim Cornette, I don't think Cornetee actually WANTS to do it. He says that he considers appearing at wrestling events, a little vacation. He drives up from Louesville to wherever the show is, stopping at diners along the way. I am not making this up. He has said it in interviews.

Because of that, I don't think he would be willing to drive around very often to just listen to a man he hates (Vince Russo) in booking meatings. And for those of you who say he can take a plane, he hates planes.

Jim Cornette should be a booker, yeah. He'd do a great job I think. I dont know if Russo is a problem, but if he is, then I say fire his ass. They need some new peoples booking, and stuff like that. Thats their only problem.....thats right.
