I personally miss the more gimmicky days, but perhaps it's dying out like kayfabe did. In the AE it was a such a big thing to culture clash, steer away from heel / face sterotypes and the gimmicks attatched to them, being "real" was in. The even that level of real got too outlandish and over the top and had to be stripped down more and more as the years went on. Till now fleshed out gimmicks are truly few and far between. Are we better off with these more relatable characters or should there be a gimmick renaissance?
