Thought it would be fun to do one of these. Just looking back on a daily basis to the past for big events that happened across all the promotions past and present. Feel free to join in with your own events or comments on the ones I post. I'll get it rolling with some WCW:
THE MONDAY NIGHT WARS BEGIN WITH THE DEBUT OF WCW NITRO

9/4/95

On this date in World Championship Wrestling (WCW) history, Monday Nitro makes its debut in the Mall of America in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
While it's hard to imagine the shopping mall show and "Pastamania" would pose even a remote threat to the boys in Stamford, Nitro actually went on to beat Monday Night RAW for 84 straight weeks.
Here's a few minutes from their inaugural event:

That description talks about Pastamania instead Lex Luger showin' up?

I did enjoy that broadcast, though.

On this date in National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) history, Clash of the Champions III: "Fall Brawl" draws 3,700 fans to the Albany Civic Center in Georgia -- along with a 5.4 rating on "The Superstation," TBS.
Headlining the event was a NWA United States Heavyweight Championship match-up featuring Barry Windham, who put his belt on the line against the one and only Sting.
Stinger won the bout (but not the belt) via disqualification (illegal chair shot) after Windham got ratted out by San Francisco 49'er John Ayers, who came to ringside to play informant.

You know the story by now, everything revolved around Hulk Hogan.
Such was the case on September 11, 1995, when the Hulkster kicked the crap out of Lex Luger on Monday Nitro only to later have him join his team of "Hulkamaniacs."

Luger was a late replacement for Vader, who was shit-canned following his locker room brawl against Paul Orndorff, and joined fellow "Hulkamaniacs" Sting and "Macho Man" Randy Savage for a four-on-four feud with the "Dungeon of Doom."
The two factions would later meet in a "WarGames" match at Fall Brawl, with the Hulkamaniacs emerging victorious.
Shocking, I know.
