not sure I understand your pointKinda goes to show how worthless the 5* match idea is nowadays.
If 5* matches are that common then they're not really special, are they? When I think of a 5* match, I think of a match that stands out as a match I would show everyone in the history of Wrestling and say, *this* is a must-see match.not sure I understand your point
tbf I just see anything as 5 or more as the same lol, he went on some weird kick of busting his system but lately i don't think hes going above 5 often at all, thank god. anyways, this isn't supposed to be about Meltzer, it's supposed to be about how Okada is a fucking machine that shits out great matches as a standard as opposed to the occasion. hopefully we can get back to that now that the inevitable triggering has happened![]()
I was more poking fun at Barry because I always expect some metlzer hate every time I post WON things with ratings. And ofc I agree with you on the former, wrestling been around for a while so there's going to be an insane amount of "instant classics" or however yo want to define a "perfect or near perfect" match. It does suck that he busted his system, and that its been around so long that you cant fairly compare his old rated matches vs tokyo dome stuff, for example. but hes also open to himself being bias so I always take some of the wwe hate and the pro-njpw stuff with a grain of salt when it comes to his ratings.I’m not triggered. A rating system needs a cap though for everything between 1 and the cap to mean whatever. I’d also say it’s absolutely about Meltzer. He’s the one who decided Okada had all these 4 stars, yeah?
I only commented because Grim said what he said and tbh that wouldn’t bother me at all. Lots of good matches don’t make said good matches not good, ya?
Good for him, Okada, though. I’ve only seen a handful of his matches and they’re all right from what I’ve seen.
It’s not all 5* matches… some are 4* matches. If 5* matches are that common then they're not really special, are they? When I think of a 5* match, I think of a match that stands out as a match I would show everyone in the history of Wrestling and say, *this* is a must-see match.
If every *really good* match is given 5*, then it kinda defeats the purpose of the 5* system, wouldn't you think?
