NXT 7/27 media call notes

WWE held a media call today to promote Sunday's Great American Bash.

Shawn Michaels led the call and addressed questions regarding main roster stars performing on NXT, No Mercy, and more. Below are notes from the call.

NXT 7/27 media call notes:

• Cody Rhodes will voice the intro for The Great American Bash on Sunday.
• Michaels said he would love to have Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn in NXT.
• NXT No Mercy was announced for Saturday, September 30, 2023, from the Mechanics Bank Arena in Bakersfield, California.
• Wendy Choo is rehabbing injuries and still has "a ways to go" in her recovery.
• Michaels praised Dominik Mysterio. He referred to him as mature and professional. He said Dominik respects the business and has done well in NXT so far. Michaels believes Dominik will be able to find himself more in NXT.
• When asked about a potential women's mid-card title, Michaels said he is open to the idea but praised the non-title storylines in the division.
• Michaels has enjoyed the Tony D'Angelo in prison story. He said D'Angelo has the potential to be a great actor outside of wrestling.
• Regarding Carmelo Hayes, Michaels said Hayes is looking forward to getting his main roster call-up but shouldn't get ahead of himself. He wants Hayes to take things one show at a time. It's about preparing Hayes to be a flag-bearer.
• Regarding Gable Steveson, Michaels said he has been around and training for a while and he finally just asked, "I want to get him in the mix, can I do that?" Michaels was eventually given the green light to start using the Olympic gold medalist.
• He also spoke highly of Robert Stone, referring to him as versatile. He would like to have Stone in NXT as long as he wants to be there. Michaels said he likes having managers in NXT too.
• Regarding the Weapons Wild match between Blair Davenport and Roxanne Perez, Michaels said the stipulation makes sense considering the storyline. He also wanted Perez on the card since she's from Texas.
• Regarding Dragon Lee, Michaels said Lee is taking advantage of everything the WWE PC has to offer and has asked for no special treatment.
