It seems like Dana Fucking White fears the vuvuzela: LAS VEGAS --
If fans are thinking about bringing the spirit of the World Cup to the Ultimate Fighting Championship in the form of a vuvuzela, forget about it.

UFC president Dana White says Wednesday that vuvuzelas -- the beehive-sounding noisemakers that have become famous during soccer's biggest event -- are being banned at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday.

That's when heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar will fight interim belt holder Shane Carwin.

"This decision was pretty simple," White said. "Vuvuzelas make the most horrific sound I've ever heard. I'd rather let Brock punch me in the face than hear 15,000 people blow on those things.

"This is the biggest heavyweight fight we've ever done. We'll make enough noise this weekend when Brock and Shane finally step inside the Octagon."

The sports industry has taken the air horn from us, the laser pointer, champagne party poppers and obscene signs. And before it even has a chance to get it's head in the American Sports Industry door, it's being kicked out. What an outrage.

I have no problem with them in the World Cup, but I'm glad UFC is banning them from their event Saturday. I remember that Florida Marlins baseball game where they had bring out the vuvuzela night and 25,000 fans blew those things. Most of the players and managers on the field for the game later said they were annoyed by these contraptions. Now if Africa wants to use these things in their World Cup fine, but please keep them away from our sporting events.
