NJPW is reportedly obtaining visas for foreign talent to come to Japan.

Fightful Select reported this afternoon that for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic struck in 2020, NJPW has been obtaining visas for foreign talent. They reported that several names will be brought in over the next few months, including the upcoming Best of the Super Juniors tournament that takes place next month.

Since the pandemic, NJPW has focused on building a roster for their American branch, while largely keeping their Japanese roster in place barring a few additions, most recently Francesco Akira debuting at New Japan Hyper Battle on Saturday.

After launching New Japan Strong events in 2020, NJPW of America has established working agreements with Impact and AEW, with talent from those rosters regularly working New Japan Strong tapings. Talent from the Japan roster such as Hiroshi Tanahashi, Kazuchika Okada, Tomohiro Ishii, and Minoru Suzuki have also worked NJPW events in the United States during the pandemic.

I just hope they keep their Strong roster in the states.

I think having a Strong brand and also them working Impact is a great idea.

Strong is one of the best shows of the week most of the time tbh, they've really established a nice American indie that gets special appearances from NJPW mainstays sometimes and also people from other American companies

I’ve slowly been catching up on Impact and have been highly enjoying it. Watching BFG now.

Seeing as I like most of the Strong roster, I will attempt to start that soon. Is it only on World?

Yeah, airs inconveniently at 8 EST on Saturdays when there's almost always something else on so I usually watch it Sunday morning. I think they should have put it in the AXS spot after Impact but I guess they didn't think it would draw as well as the main NJPW unit

The only major downside with Strong is how low budget and dark it can look and some tapings don't have a ton of fans, the ones that do are way better. But they always give a ton of time to the main event every week giving people that don't usually get to wrestle that long a chance to really shine

Happy to hear this news because New Japan it feels like has been spinning their Wheels for Years now and that is mainly due to Covid of course and them for me not producing enough new talent or being able to book the younger talent to truly make a rise up the Heavyweight ranks. I mean I love Naito and all but how many times do I need to Rewatch a Match between Okada and himself again? Look at Master Wato New Japan made it seem like this guy was going to be the next Ace for the Junior Division and has he done worth while? Surely he is a Tag Champion with Taguchi but it's not like he's setting the World on fire. Hopefully that changes in 2022 and onward.

Yeah I'm hoping for that, he can miss a couple months of Impact rn and it wouldn't hurt them too much, they should have a thing where Impact can at least show his highlights on their TV for more synergy
