NJPW is reportedly obtaining visas for foreign talent to come to Japan.
Fightful Select reported this afternoon that for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic struck in 2020, NJPW has been obtaining visas for foreign talent. They reported that several names will be brought in over the next few months, including the upcoming Best of the Super Juniors tournament that takes place next month.
Since the pandemic, NJPW has focused on building a roster for their American branch, while largely keeping their Japanese roster in place barring a few additions, most recently Francesco Akira debuting at New Japan Hyper Battle on Saturday.
After launching New Japan Strong events in 2020, NJPW of America has established working agreements with Impact and AEW, with talent from those rosters regularly working New Japan Strong tapings. Talent from the Japan roster such as Hiroshi Tanahashi, Kazuchika Okada, Tomohiro Ishii, and Minoru Suzuki have also worked NJPW events in the United States during the pandemic.
