So interested to see Mercedes in a totally new environment and how she takes to it ring wise. Especially with how different of a style they work in Stardom and NJPW. Very excited for this match and the rest that gets announced, I'll be watching live for sure.

Sobering statistic for the people that tried to diminish her impact and success.

Battle in the Valley Kickoff Set for February 18

Free kickoff sees two matches

Hype is huge for Battle in the valley on February 18 in San Jose. With the major announcement of KAIRI vs Mercedes Moné pushing tickets to a near sellout, fans not in California will be watching from around the world on FITE PPV.
Battle in the Valley TICKETS (last seats!)
Watch LIVE on FITE!

There’ll also be a special chance to sample the atmosphere an action free with the Battle in the Valley kickoff pre-show! Starting at 6:20 PM local time, the preshow event will air free on FITE and YouTube with the following two matches:
Finlay_Fish.jpg

David Finlay will take on Bobby Fish. Fish recently joined NJPW STRONG and Team Filthy to back up former training partner Tom Lawlor and Danny Limelight in the face of Homicide’s fury. With Homicide recruiting Finlay for his family fighting history and a reputation furthered with a string of great performances in 2022, The Rebel now seeks his first major singles victory of ’23, while Fish wants to strike one for Team Filthy.

Coughlin_Kratos.jpg

The Android Alex Coughlin finally gets in the ring with Jr Kratos in a match over a year in the making. When Coughlin underwent a trial series to graduate from Young Lion status, his last opponent was Kratos, leading to an NJPW STRONG match that ended with an immense German Suplex and the biggest win of Coughlin’s career.

Yet Kratos was furious and demanded a rematch, one that was denied him through fate and injury. Now the Android is fully ready to face the Most Feared; both men have undergone major growth in the back end of 2022 as Coughlin embarked on the World Tag League tour and Kratos challenged for the STRONG Openweight Championship- who will show the benefit of that experience on February 18?

Two more bouts official for Battle in the Valley! 【NJoA】

White vs Kingston, Lawlor vs Homicide set for February 18

The San Jose Civic is getting an increasingly stacked card on February 18. Battle in the Valley all but sold out on the strength of KAIRI vs Mercedes Moné alone, while the IWGP World Heavyweight and STRONG Openweight Championships will also be defended on a title filled night. Recently added on the back of NJPW STRONG though, are a pair of non title, but sure to be hard fought, grudge bouts.
Limited extra seating available at the San Jose Civic!

Kingston_White.jpg

Eddie Kingston and Jay White will go one on one in San Jose. The Switchblade and the Mad King have been on a collision course ever since last October, when a scheduled bout during the Autumn Action series on NJPW STRONG was waved off as Kingston dealt with COVID. The Catalyst of Professional Wrestling dismissed the illness as a cover for cowardice, leading to a tag team bout in New York later in the autumn. As both men continued to needle one another, it finally looked like the two would go to blows one on one this past week on STRONG, but WHite would instead insist that the match happen on his terms at Battle in the Valley.

With White facing Hikuleo in a Loser Leaves Japan match at new Beginning in Osaka just one week earlier, White could either be heading into this bout back on track in a championship hunt, or exiled from Japan and with a the house of cards that is the Switchblade Era in potential disarray. He can expect no mercy from Kingston either way in what should be a thriller on February 18.

Homicide_Lawlor.jpg

Another showdown months in the making since Autumn Action in Las Vegas, Homicide will face Tom Lawlor in a ‘Filthy Rules Fight’. The bout, which will see the ropes taken down from the ring, and no disqualifications, has its roots when Lawlor attacked Homicide after a six man tag in Vegas; the very six man tag that was altered when Kingston was absent for his meeting with jay White in the first place. Lawlor would then face the Notorious 187 weeks later on STRONG, a match where Homicide was victorious. After the bout, the brawler wasn’t done as he sought to stab Lawlor with a fork, only to be saved by Danny Limelight. That started a war for Homicide against the members of Team Filthy. Lawlor now has had enough, and has promised to end things against his nemesis in this brutal battle.

STRONG Tag Titles, Rocky & Volador official for Battle in the Valley! 【NJoA】

Two more matches added to loaded card

February 18 will see an incredible card in San Jose, as Battle in the Valley is loaded with personal issues and big title matchups. That card has just grown even more stacked with a pair of big time matches added.
Watch live in English on FITE!

MCMG_WCWC.jpg

The STRONG Openweight Tag Team Championships are on the line when the Motor City Machineguns face the West Coast Wrecking Crew. Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin took the STRONG Tag titles back in October in New York, and have since picked up defences over the Stray Dog Army and Roppongi Vice. Yet Jorel Nelson and Royce Isaacs tenure on STRONG outstrips that of the legendary junior tag icons. With pressure mounting on the Team Filthy duo to capture their first major league tag championships, they confronted the champs backstage at STRONG this week, and have now officially been granted their request.

8_Man.jpg

KUSHIDA, Kevin Knight, Volador Jr. and The DKC will take on Rocky Romero, Josh Alexander, Mascara Dorada and Adrian Quest in eight man action. On a very busy weekend for wrestling news, one story coming out of Mexico was Rocky Romero defeating the CMLL/NWA Historic Welterweight Champion Volador Jr to lift the gold. With NJPW just days away from the Fantasticamania series, they will be combustible elements in an eight man that also sees Kevin Knight continue his ascent, KUSHIDA on the back of AEW and IMPACT appearances, and IMPACT’s World Champion Josh Alexander to boot.
