Following nine fights at lightweight in the UFC, Nik Lentz is making the move down to 145lbs.
The Minnesota fighter announced to switch via his Twitter account on Friday.
“I don’t have a fight scheduled yet, but my next fight will be at 145lbs,” said Lentz.
Following a 5-0-1 record to kick off his UFC career, Lentz has fallen on tougher times of late dropping his last two fights in a row.
Lentz was defeated by Mark Bocek at UFC 140 last December, and then stepped into another bout just over a month later and lost by TKO to Evan Dunham after having a nasty cut opened during the fight.
Now Lentz will try his hand at the featherweight division when he fights next in the UFC in 2012.
A lot of guys have decided to make weight class changes in the last week, this move isn't a real big deal but I'm all for new competition in the Featherweight division.
