Nigel McGuiness comments on WWE release, future

Nigel McGuinness' WWE release didn't take him by surprise.

McGuiness was let go last October after having been with the company since December 2016. He spoke with Hannibal TV about his WWE departure in an interview released on Sunday.

McGuinness said:

It wasn't a huge shock to me, I don't think so. I think with the NXT UK brand being put on hiatus and moving a lot of the guys over to NXT, I kind of wasn't being used as much as I might be and so I understood that certainly, you know, I'm not sure how much longer that role was going to be there.
I was very grateful to still be employed as long as I was, doing the smallest shows in terms of Level Up or 205, the ability to work with younger guys and stuff like that and then watch younger guys just breaking in to this industry, that was a great experience in and of itself.
But to your point, it wasn't a huge shock. Again, I just felt very grateful for everything that had happened there and very appreciative of the six years of the learning and the education and the experience.

Earlier in the conversation, McGuiness said he can't "give a definitive answer" regarding if he'll wrestle again but isn't ruling it out. However, he added that he feels his strengths are in other aspects of the industry right now.

There's always that part of you that wants to have that final moment, but sometimes cooler and smarter heads have to prevail.

McGuinness is starring in his own one-man show on Thursday, March 30, in Santa Monica, CA. He will take the stage at the Illusion Magic Lounge to perform "CELEBRATION: A Magical Homage to Pro Wrestling - by Nigel McGuinness." The show's description states that McGuiness "tell stories of the ring and share his unique brand of magic!"

Even though, at least imo, Nigel has always been kind of given raw deals where ever he has gone he always seems to just have such a great attitude about it all. I wish we were able to see more Nigel, but I definitely can understand he'd rather be as healthy as he is now instead of like Foley or Angle at their age.
