Van Dam was never asked to stay the extra week or two, but Vince had talked about wanting him to. The original plan for One Night Stand was actually to have RVD beat Orton to surprise the fans who knew Van Dam was leaving and thought he would lose for sure, but it appears that Vince was talked out of that.
